"Have you thought about...More surgery on your face?”
“Pi!” Toma hissed before Aiba could but he did manage to glare at his friend’s partner while Toma’s hand connected with the back of Yamapi’s head. They had been working in the garden for the day and Aiba had sensed there was something the man had wanted to say from the way that he had been looking at him but he had never expected that. Aiba’s eyes moved over to Sakurai glad that his lover hadn’t stiffened or stopped working before looking back at Yamapi again as the man was rubbing the spot that has been hit as well as giving a shrug and mumbling;
“I was just asking, jeez…”
“Sometimes…You can be so blunt…” Toma growled again but Yamapi just gave another uncaring shrug as he replied;
“I was just making conversation…I can’t pretend I’m not curious…But as I’m studying to be a doctor I think it’s a valid question…”
“Only if you’re going to be a plastic surgeon…The last time I checked you weren’t…”
“I worked with a plastic surgeon last year though…The stuff he could do was incredible…”
“So were the ones that worked on me before…” Sakurai said quietly not looking up from the ground that he was breaking up to all it to aerate. Aiba gave his lover a reassuring smile which was returned, all be it weakly before he continued in a soft voice “They did the best that they could…There was too much damage…”
“But…That was a while ago now right?” Yamapi continued in an almost annoyingly persistent voice and Aiba was slowly getting closer to actually wanting to punch the man. Sakurai sighed lifting himself up stretching out his back and looking at the man with a half-smile behind his mask saying in a bland voice;
“Almost ten years…”
“Well, no offense, a lot has changed in ten years…You should give it a chance...I’ll tell you what…I’ll give you the number of my friend…I’m positive that he can give you a better idea…Even if Masaki isn’t bothered...You…”
“Not everybody cares about looks, Pi, but I happen to think that Sho-chan is the most handsome man that I have ever met…And he has the best personality…” Aiba told them, somehow managing to keep his voice calm though anyone that really knew him would know that he was getting angry. Toma sensed this and quickly tried to stem the flow of words that were coming out of the trainee doctor’s mouth. It wasn’t as if he had been saying anything bad, in fact it was things that he had wondered but never asked, but it was the fact that he didn’t seem to realise that Sakurai was growing more uncomfortable and looking like he wanted to run into his house with every new word that was coming out of his mouth. “Sho-chan…Ohn…Satoshi said that he would go over what was needed for the house…Do you want to talk to him now…”
“I…yes…” Sakurai agreed with a nod, a very small tremble running through his hands, and Aiba smiled taking his hand and leading him away from Toma and Yamapi, leaving his friend to deal with his lover.
“I’m sorry about that Sho-chan, Pi isn’t a bad guy…But he says things that come to his head without thinking about it…” Aiba said over the sounds of Toma grumbling at his lover. Sakurai gave a long and loud sigh fidgeting around with the mask on his face and Aiba could only guess how much sweat must be irritating to him under it.
“He’s right though…” Sakurai mumbled after a long time “I should look into more surgery…I know that things have improved and that they may be able to help me now…But…I think about it…And all I can remember is the pain…And the way that may body rejected the grafts…It hurt more than the fire because unlike then I wasn’t aware until I woke up…”
“Sho-chan…No matter what I am with you…” Aiba said squeezing at his hand and Sakurai squeezed back giving him a nod as he replied with an almost happy;
“I know and that means a lot to me…”
“You don’t have to think about it now Sho-chan, you are starting to gain more confidence in yourself and I think that you should focus on that…”
“I…Think so to…Though I’m not as confident in myself as you are in me…”
“I know but you’ll get there…When we are sitting in our beautiful garden watching our doggie and kitty running around with each other…” Aiba paused in his walk to the house where Ohno and Nino were bagging and boxing things up to take to his apartment so they could get started on ripping out the old and rotten wood. Sakurai had mentioned something about changing the internal layout to give Aiba a larger kitchen area and himself a proper office but for the time being they were happy enough to focus on the essentials that were needed, like making sure the floor was fit to walk on without them finishing into the small crawl space that would be under them. “…Hmmm…Would you like an herb garden? Just a small one in a raised part with a meshing over it to stop the cat…”
“Masaki, I am happy that you are trying to involve me in everything that you want to do but this is going to be your house as well, if you want an herb garden then…Have one…” Sakurai told him gently tugging at his hand so he was facing him and Aiba wished that there was the barrier of his mask so he could kiss him as excitement bubbled its way over his body as he pictured a stone tub filled with amazing looking herbs.
“Then…We will! I can make lots of lovely meals with them!” He said happily throwing his arms around Sakurai’s neck and swaying him from side to side for a minute pressing his lips to the part of the face he could reach before letting him go again “This house is going to be so perfect! Right let’s see what Ohno and Nino are doing…”
Aiba found his friends in what he supposed was Sakurai’s bedroom studying a wall like they had found something rare and endangered. This had to be the worst room in the house in Aiba’s opinion, and that was saying something, in the centre of the room was a bed that contained only a mattress with no sheets and a quilt that had holes in it that he suspected was from either rats or mice. It was surprising that his lover hadn’t died one day in his sleep living like this but he supposed that some part of Sakurai had hoped that he wouldn’t. It was like he had been too scared to his own life so he had been attempting to let nature do it for him. Aiba smiled deciding that of all the rooms in the house this was going to be their best. He was going to make it cheerful and colourful to make sure that his lover would always want to wake up.
“This whole wall should just go…” Ohno hummed thoughtfully pointing that the mould infested wall, which looked like it was about to save them all the trouble and fall down on its own, “We could try to save it but the mould would just come back…”
“Sorry…” Sakurai whispered sounding mortified and embarrassed about the state of his house but Ohno just gave him a smile his head shaking from side to side.
“Not your fault, the mould was probably here before you…It looks like whoever sold you the house did a good job of hiding it but it would have come through no matter what…I have no doubt that you gave it room to thrive though...” The former gangster said with so much confidence that they were all surprised and he gave a shrug “I own buildings…It is my job to know what could go wrong with them…I think that once we get your stuff out and safely at Aiba-chan’s we can get started…”

Date: 2015-03-29 12:33 pm (UTC)Seeing Sho so madly in love with Aiba-chan, I wondered if it was a sacrifice he would be willing to make.
I'm happy Pi insisted!

Date: 2015-03-29 04:54 pm (UTC)In the medical field, a lot of things can develop in 10 years (especially now, plastic surgery is incredible)
But I agree, Sho needs to be comfortable with himself and build up more confidence before looking into surgery options...
