“Tell me what these threats were…” Ohno growled looking at the new bodyguard with distrust. He had run checks on him as soon as Masaki had told him that he had a new bodyguard and his boss had helpfully provided him with a photo which matched the man in front of him but he was not a man that trusted easily more so when it somebody that would be coming into regular contact with his prince.
“Threat…Singular…It arrived in the form of a birthday card…” Sho answered pulling the card from a black envelope which Ohno recognised as being from the company as Nino tended to call it. “…It was a particularly nasty threat though…” Ohno remained impassive as he read the note. It was printed, indicating that the entire card had been homemade and not brought and threatened to peel all of Masaki’s skin from his bones and feed his eyes to a dog. If Nino had been the one to receive such a letter Ohno would track the person down and make them wish they were never born before ending their life. Even now he felt anger on Masaki’s behalf and he could see why Sho had been so frustrated that the young talent had tried to play it off as a prank. Nino played pranks all the time on his relatives and not once had he claimed he wanted to remove their eyes with a rusty spoon. “I’m thinking that it is an admirer turned sour…Maybe Aiba said something they didn’t like in an interview…”
“You think a girl sent this?”
“I doubt that girls would be Aiba’s only fans…” Sho said shaking his head as he took the card back placing it into the envelope again “Almost everybody in the country has watched him grow up, his entire life has been broadcast…I’m surprised that there aren’t any other sickos…”
“…I see…I think that Masaki should be removed from here…” Ohno hummed not caring that he was telling Sho how to do his job. Masaki was Nino’s only friend if anything happened to him he doubted that anyone would be able to comfort him and Ohno refused to see Nino with any kind of tears in his eyes “The Aiba’s are good people but the house is unsafe…”
“Agreed…I had already intended on taking him to a safe house…”
“The prince’s home…” Ohno rubbed his chin softly with his fingertips as he looked at the closed door that separated him from his charge. It wasn’t his place to suggest such a thing but he was sure that Nino would already be saying the same thing. “I have installed my own security system…”
“Wouldn’t that put the prince in danger? Surely he is more important…”
“Masaki is Prince Kazunari’s only friend, you have blurted out to him there has been a threat on Masaki’s life…” The older bodyguard growled realising that he was angry with the cold and near unfeeling way Sho was talking. He knew that was because it was the same way he had spoken five years ago. A robot to be programmed at will free from thoughts or desires. “Besides Masaki is your charge…On this planet nothing is more important…The emperor himself could be here but it is not your job to protect him…The little prince is my job and I would gladly remove the head of anybody that sought to harm him…”
