krystalkatzficz“Masaki?” Nino breathed knocking softly on the innkeeper’s bedroom door, before carefully sliding it open and peering inside. He had been expecting Masaki to be asleep or laid down at least but the man was pacing around the room with his hands behind his back and a concerned expression in his eyes. He paused when he saw him the blood leaving his face so quickly Nino was almost sure that he was about to faint. His mouth was drawn into a thin gash across his face and his eyes were gently pleading with him seemingly asking him not to be bringing him bad news and Nino managed a smile which caused his shoulders to relax “He woke up and he wants to see you…”
“…Me? Why would he want to see me?” Masaki whispered in a choked voice that caused Nino’s smile to relax into a less plastic one as he murmured;
“Probably the same reason that you begged our lord to let you stay here…You and he care about each other…More than either of you want to admit but I think that you should see him now…”
“I am in love with Sho…I shouldn’t feel this way…But when I heard that Jun had fainted…” Masaki whispered and Nino nodded remembering that day. It was only two days ago but it felt like a lifetime ago now.
He had been in Ohno’s garden wrapped in a cloak admiring the flowers with a coat of snow on them when Sho had run in telling him to come quick. For a moment he had been convinced that something had happened to Ohno when then he had been told that Jun had collapsed. He felt guilty at the relief he had felt in that moment but he was trying as hard as he could to make sure he survived. He could understand Masaki’s turmoil.
The innkeeper had started crying and then pretty much collapsed himself when it became apparent that it was something very wrong. All of the emotions that he must have been keeping inside all came bubbling to the surface and Nino was sure that even Masaki was surprised at how much he truly cared about him. It put things in an awkward position with Sho though who had been confused and dismayed by the reaction that was coming from the man that he had hoped to woo.
“You and Jun have a lot of history and you are bound to have a lot of emotions running around inside of you…And I know that it’s hard but I do think that you should come and see him…” Nino told his friend gently and Masaki blanched quickly his eyes becoming shiny with tears.
“You think that he won’t survive…?”
“I…Don’t know…” Nino answered with as much honesty as he could muster while trying to remain positive for his friend “But having you come to visit might give him some reason to fight through what he has…”
“I can try…But you have to promise that you’ll stay with me…” Masaki nodded sniffing as he wiped his eyes with his balled up fists and Nino smiled nodding again as he squeezed his friend’s hand tightly.
“Of course I will…Come on my friend…”
