krystalkatzficz“And how would such a building be built?” Jun asked looking mildly uncomfortable at having to be civil to Nino in the presence of their lord and Nino was sure that having Masaki there beside him as well was doing very little for his mood. The former courtesan/spy had been summoned by Ohno and collected gladly by Sho and was standing as close to Nino as he could manage looking troubled at the advisor who was all but glaring at Nino. Nino had tried his best to explain what an ice house was and what it would be used for but he was beginning to feel that his explanation left something to be desired. “You have explained the usefulness of such a building and one would agree that if you are accurate then it would be useful but how do you expect use to actually build such a thing?”
“I…I…The first thing that we would need to build in the hole…In the ground as deep as possible and I think that it should be built as near to a lake or a stream…” Nino paused his eyes widening just a little as he realised that he had visited the remains of the ice house on the tour. The guide had thought that it was sort of like an oubliette to hold serious prisoners but Nino now knew differently. The sudden reminder that all of this was taking place in his past was something that had almost knocked the air out of his lungs and he breathed deep a few times before trying to speak again “…So we might transport the ice and snow easier…We would need some insulation…Sawdust and straw for the bottom and around the sides…”
“Both of things that we have in short supply…” Jun cut in with a growl his scarred face twisting in an ugly way around his eyes and his lips “Should we be wasting things…”
“It will work…I promise…” Nino said not completely sure if it would, he had seen the ice house but who was to say that it had actually worked? Maybe it was just a folly and he would be wasting every body’s time. After all the fire would happen soon, ripping through the castle and destroying almost everything that it touched. The thought was so terrifying that he pressed himself closer to Ohno seeking the warmth and reassurance of his body. To almost everybody’s surprise, Ohno’s arm slipped around his waist holding him gently before he hummed;
“I agree with N…Take-kun…At the very least we should try to do such a thing…”
“Of course my lord…If that is your will…” Jun simpered his whole expression changing as he bobbed his head and Nino wondered yet again if Jun was in love with his lord or if there was something else behind the unwavering loyalty. It didn’t seem as though Ohno himself replicated any kind of feeling but friendship though and he allowed himself to relax before feeling slight pain when he noticed the look that he sent in Masaki’s direction. It was admiration mixed with pain and Nino knew that the man hadn’t let go of his feelings for Masaki, no matter how painful it may have been. “Then when are we to begin?”
“I think we should start as soon as possible…Loyal men only should be informed and nobody is to know that it was Take’s idea…”
