Keep the Faith part 7
Feb. 18th, 2016 11:05 am“Tell me why I wanted to be a lawyer?” Sakurai Sho growled loudly when they had finally found him. He was of course sitting in the cafeteria eating a large portion of cheese cake with a silver fork and a mournful expression on his face. His large brown eyes looking up beseechingly at him and Nino rolled his eyes slowly and sharply “C’mon, tell me? I’m never going to understand it!”
“Because both of your parents are lawyers and they threatened to throw you out onto your arse if you didn’t follow in their glorious footsteps?” Nino said happily dropping down onto the stool beside Sho happy that Jun chose to sit beside him, so close that his arm and his le were pressed up against his. There were butterflies in his stomach but he squished it down looking at the book on the table. “Besides aren’t you studying criminal law? Why do you have a book on corporate?”
“Because before I get to my main field I have to study all types…Look do I ask you why you find so much interest washing down old bones?” Sho asked snapping the book closed and forking more cheese cake into his mouth. Nino rolled his eyes slowly and sharply, so slowly that he could feel the muscles straining in his eyes.
“You know I don’t actually wash bones right…I worked on them…But I only brushed them down…” He said a giddy feeling growing inside of him as he thought about the one and only skeleton that he had been allowed to work on so far. So what if had broken a rib bon while had been so nervous or that he had accidently confused two dog femur bones for the humerus of the body that he had been working on. It had been an innocent mistake and one that Takenaka had forgiven him when he had stopped laughing at him. “And it was actually interesting…”
“More interesting than maths that’s for sure…If I ever see anything but numbers again I’m a Dutchman!” Jun moaned slamming his head down on the table so sharply that Nino was positive that he was going to smash the cute little glasses he wore. He half wanted to pull the man to his chest and hug him tight but he knew that he couldn’t do that and instead he ran his hand up and down his back. “I need to change careers…It’s not too late right?”
“Considering that you’re almost already two years into it, it would be a waste...More so since we all know how much you are actually going to love being an accountant…” Nino laughed trying hard to reassure his friend. It was the truth after all. In spite of all his weakness of character Jun was the best type of person who liked to be deeply in control of all things and all times and accountancy was perfect for his well-ordered mind but he had to get through the bad and boring bits first. The same as all of them. “Just think of all that money you’ll be making!”
“All you care about is money” Jun pointed out with a weak smile and Nino shrugged poking his nose as he settled back into his chair. He was tempted to say something about them always having had money so they wouldn’t know what it was like to actually struggle for money and then they would learn why he was so predisposed to have it. But he refused to bring that up in front of his friends and he gave a lazy shrug brushing his hair away from his face with his fingers.
“I like money...”
“Just not spending it…We know Ebenezer...” Jun laughed and Nino smirked trying hard not to be hurt by the comparison to the miser from the Charles Dickens novel.

Date: 2016-02-19 05:13 am (UTC)Poor Nino! He couldn't tell any of his friends that was struggling for money :(
I just reread the first chapter again and wonder what did Nino do after he graduated (or did he graduate?). He didn't seem to enjoy his job.
Thanks for sharing!
