One Year Later…
Satoshi opened his eyes and looked down at the man and boy who were still sleeping peacefully beside him. It was a year since Riku had forced him into confessing to Nino and then into asking the younger man to move in with them. It hadn’t all been smooth sailing. The press had gotten hold of it fairly quickly and they still tried to use it against him when he was sitting on a big case but the general public didn’t really care and in their eyes he was still a fair and just man. Nino’s charity was more like a company of its own now with them having several offices all over Japan handling the affairs of the children affected by crime. In fact, it had gotten so big that Sakurai Sho and Matsumoto Jun had quit whatever jobs they had had before and were focused solely on the work that they were doing within the charity along with Nino.
Satoshi could honestly say that he missed him in the office but knowing that it was something that Nino had been striving towards since being a child and having him at home more than made up for it. Nino was still the person that drove Riku to school and collected him in the evening making sure that there was food on the table for when he got home and somehow he still efficiently ran his life so that his new assistant just had to be there and take notes during meetings.
Satoshi couldn’t really put into words how much happiness and delight he had received over this last year with Nino and he knew that it would continue on into this next year and the year after that. For a very long time, he had been convinced that he only needed Riku to be happy and content he was happy that he had been proven wrong in such a big way. His life as a whole had been improved since Nino had found his way into it.
He had been deeply surprised that Nino was the child that he had comforted in the police station and convinced his father to help. It was strange that somebody that young had remembered him so vividly while he had all but forgotten the details about him such as his name and almost what he had looked like. He’d thought of him over the years when things had gotten tough and he had felt like he was just banging his head against a brick wall. He’d thought of the little boy and remembered why he was doing it making it all worthwhile and now…Now he had that reason in his bed, smiling at him whenever he felt down and he had to admit that it made him work just that little bit harder.
Riku had thankfully stopped calling Nino mummy in the intervening year preferring to call him Kazu-Papa. Things had been difficult at the school with the boy on the receiving end of some nasty comments about his two fathers but Riku hadn’t let it get him down even though it had gotten to Nino more than once. They had gotten through it though and he believed that people accepted them and their happiness.
“Old man? What’s up? It’s early?” Nino whispered groggily an eye open looking at him and Ohno smiled moving closer so he could lean over Riku and press his lips to Nino’s.
“Just thinking about how happy I am…Thank-you for helping me find my happiness…”
THE END
A/N: Cheesy ending is Cheesy but I hope that you liked it ^_^
