Ohno growled as a knock sounded on his bedroom door, it was soft and hesitant, like the one knocking didn’t actually want to be heard. All day he had been staring after Nino wondering what she had wanted to say. It was hard not to be irritated by Bunni’s interruption he felt like Nino was going to reveal a big secret, maybe the reason that he found Nino so mystifying and Ohno was irritated that chance gad been pulled away from him. The knock sounded out again and Ohno gave another growl scrapping his fingers over the top of his head before marching to door and pulling it open snapping
“Yes?” In a terse voice before he realised that it was Nino that was standing there her fist clenched tightly lifted to eye level, her face paper white and her eyes were wide with fear but there was a determined glint in the chocolate brown depths. “Nino...Is everything okay?”
“Sensei…I…May I speak with you?” She asked softly and Ohno immediately moved away from door to let her in looking around to make sure that nobody saw them before closing the door and turning to look at the teenager who was looking around his room with a curious look on her face her pink tongue running over her lips and Ohno had to suppress a moan as he watched it.
Nino ran his tongue over his lips, his heart doing a funny little dance as he looked around the teacher’s room. It was just as he imagined that it would be with plain pale blue walls and dark blue covers. It was neat enough or it would have been without sketching paper, canvas and little tubes of paint scattered around the floor and on every available flat surface. Some were full doodles and he stepped forwards without thinking and reached out to the top couple of pages nearest to him his mouth falling open and a gasp leaving his throat. The first was full of the girls in Lotus Lodge there was Bunni in one of her colourful creations a bright happy smile on her face and Shika sitting on the window seat her legs curled up into her chest her nose buried in the depths of a book a secret smile playing on her lips.
He smiled when he saw that the next one was of Rika, her rabbit teeth clearly on display her eyes bugged out in what was a half laugh, the twins were next their painted faces easily recognisable under the cartoonish make-up Ohno had given them. He was disappointed when he didn’t see himself but he tried not to let it bother him and looked at the next sheet his mouth dropping open when he saw the P.E teacher and the headmaster locked in a tight embrace their mouths together in what had to be a breath taking kiss. Matsumoto was next his every detail of his face captured by the artist and Nino was amazed by the wide lopsided smile on his face.
There was another sheet below that one and tilting his head he pulled it out gasping audibly when he saw himself, dozens of sketches, each one showing different expressions on his face. The first was a barely there smile, just the hint of his lips curving at the corners, his eyes dancing under his eye long eyelashes. Next was of him laughing one of his ugly hands covering his mouth as his head was thrown back, leg curled up over him, the skirt riding up his leg a little. In the third he was playing on a game his eyes sharp and focused, his mouth a thin line just the hint of a tooth as he chewed his bottom lip, his hands were on the controller thumbs straining on the joysticks. The fourth was only half finished it looked like he was crying his eyes watery and bottom lip sticking out in a half pout. The fifth and last surprised him it had to have been drawn today, his lips were swollen and his face flushed as his eyes were glazed lost in the pleasure that they had been doing. He noticed that in each one of the pictures his hair was cropped to the point just below his ear. He was surprised by that but he guessed that Ohno didn’t want to draw the knot or ponytail he kept his hair in.
A hand slid over his, fingers brushing at his before covering up the page of him with the one of Aiba and Sakurai his breath coming to tickle his cheek and ear
“…Nino…What is it you wanted to talk about?” Ohno asked and Nino jumped moving away from the warmth of the older man’s body his heart thumping against his ribs as a shiver of excitement ran over his body.
“Sensei…I…I want to request a transfer from Lotus Lodge” Nino whispered his words catching in his throat which only grew when he saw the surprised and hurt on the teachers face.
“…I understand…” Ohno nodded with a hum folding his arms across his chest tilting his head to one side and looking at him “But first tell me what you wanted to earlier…When Bunni-chan interrupted us…What were you going to say?”
“…Does it matter…?” Nino asked his heart thumping as his mouth went dry. He had hoped to avoid talking about that. It was a moment of weakness earlier he dreaded to think what his parents would say if he told anybody the truth.
“It seemed important to you earlier…” Ohno answered in an almost stiff voice and Nino flinched biting his lip at the tone having never heard it directed at him before, though there were times it had been used on the other girls in the house.
“Sensei...Please…” Nino begged turning around wanting to leave but Ohno grabbed her arm fingers gripping her tightly not prepared to let her leave until he had heard her out.
“Nino…I told you that I liked you, I wasn’t lying or joking…” He said keeping his voice calm and steady wanting to convey how sincere he was. Every single word out of his mouth would get him into trouble but he didn’t seem to care he just wanted some light to return to the girl’s eyes and he wanted to kiss her again, wanting to feel the lips pressed against his.
“But…That’s it sensei you don’t know me…” Nino’s voice was shaking again and Ohno gripped his hand holding it up and showing how much they seemed to fit together. He knew that Nino noticed it too and the girl gave him a surprised but happy half smile that filled Ohno with a little more confidence
“But that’s the point, Nino…You don’t know me either but we know enough about each other to know that we like each other so we can learn the rest from there…”
Nino stared at the teacher’s chubby face, his heart doing a dance against his ribs now, he wished so much that he could just agree with him and let him show him how they could get to know each other but he knew that wasn’t possible once Ohno knew the truth he wouldn’t want to get to know him in anyway
“I’m not a girl…” He muttered pulling his hand away tugging at the ribbon at his throat his cheeks flushing when he heard Ohno make a gurgled sound his fingers and nails sinking into the flesh of his arm painfully now.
“You…You’re a boy…?” The teacher whispered and Nino gave a funny half nod, shake of his head “Then…”
“I’m both...I have both sexes…I’m a dirty little freak…” Tears spilled out of his eyes as he forced the last word out his arms circled around himself when Ohno took a step towards him
“You’re a hermaphrodite?” Ohno asked in a soft voice and Nino gave a half nod keeping his eyes fixed on the floor not daring to look up at the older man “You have both…”
“Yes do you want to see…?” Nino spat, more out of fear than any real anger ashamed of what he was admitting too
“No thank-you Nino…But I would like you to tell me everything…Now please…”
