Finding Happiness part 19

Satoshi sang happily as he walked into his home and found Nino and Riku sat crossed legged in front of the television playing a racing game. It was the Saturday of the promised date and he had been reluctantly called into work. It was only for half an hour though and finally he was able to take Nino on the promised date. He supposed that some people might find it strange that they were taking his son with them and everything had been centred on the boy but he was always going to be a big part of their lives together and Nino had said that it didn’t matter that instead of restaurants and fine dining they were going to a zoo and would probably end up at a fast food place. Nino deserved better though and he was hoping that he could treat him to something amazing later on.

“Welcome home…” Nino and Riku said together not looking away from the game as both of their bodies moved together as if they were really going around the bend that appeared on the screen. The wheels of their pixelated cars screeched loudly and Satoshi tried to not laugh too loudly at the little symmetries between the two. Riku had been copying Nino more and more since he had been looking after him and Satoshi took it as a sign of how much the boy liked him.

Before Nino had come into their lives Riku had been introverted and shy rarely putting himself forward or allowing himself to shine too brightly. The teacher’s had all but stated that it was because of him. He hated it but he knew that it was true. His life had become so hectic since he had been made a judge that he hadn’t had time to be with Riku. His son hadn’t wanted to cause him any trouble and had never said anything but now with Nino consistently encouraging him in all his school work Riku had come on in leaps and bounds.

It was a reason that dating was so awkward for them, if things went wrong it wasn’t only them that would be hurt. Riku would be devastated too. Satoshi shook himself refusing to think about such gloomy things. Nothing was going to go wrong, he and Nino had already established a relationship that worked well and they both had feelings for the other.

“I’m home…Are you ready?”

“Yep, just a second…Done! Wow, big little man you almost beat me that time!” Nino said with a huge proud smile reaching over and ruffling Riku’s hair. Riku’s disappointed face quickly became a pleased and happy grin his eyes shining happily as he chirped;

“You really think so, Nino-chan?!”

“Yup, you almost had me at the end there…Just a little more and you would have won…You’re brilliant Riku…” Nino laughed as Riku stood up and did a strange little dance of victory looking like he had just won instead of coming close but Satoshi supposed that just coming close to his idol was enough to please his son.

“Well done, Riku…” He said and the boy happily gave him a peace sign before running off, saying something about a coat. Nino chuckled pressing a few buttons on the control pad and the TV went blank the air crackling with the silence that now filled the room. The silences were becoming a set feature of their lives at the moment with them both filling them with awkward small talk and blushing but Satoshi was determined that that would be a thing of the past after their date today.

I'm sure being affecionate will come sooner than you might think!!

I do hope Riku is more happy and amused rather than acting like a brat (even though he is a brat age) and saying the typical 'Ewwww'. I mean rather than that I prefer Riku which will be extremely happy to have his two greatest person in his life being happy with each other. :)
