krystalkatzficzNino sat nervously on the sofa wondering how a five year old had seen straight through him. Of course if he thought about it rationally he knew that it was just the innocence of a confused child speaking. Aiba had said the same thing yesterday, he had been acting like a mother so it was only natural for Riku to be confused. It was completely possible now though that Ohno would want to start to distance them so that they could have a clearly defined line between business and his home life. Nino would understand completely if that was the case but it was going to break his heart.
“Are you okay?” Ohno asked coming back from the bedroom and Nino nodded his head slowly biting hard on his lower lip “Riku was talking about mummies and daddies at school and he got a little confused because we are like a family…And…He…He figured out that I have feelings for you…I’m sorry…”
“You…Have…Feelings…For…Me?” Nino stammered deciding that he was imagining things his eyes went to the little boy who was standing just behind his father’s legs. His little chubby face a warm red as his eyes were shining brightly and there was a bright smile on his face. Ohno was looking just as nervous as his son and Nino realised that this was real. That Ohno was saying the thing that he had dreamt about since he was a kid. Slowly he ran his hand down his leg and pinched it tightly. “Ohno-san…You…You don’t have to say…I…”
“Riku will you go and get your school clothes ready please while Nino and I talk?” Ohno asked sounding almost as confident as he was when in court but there was a nervous tick in his eye that Nino had never seen before.
“Okay, Daddy…” Riku said brightly hurrying back to his bedroom and clicking the door shut while Nino and Ohno stared at each other both their hearts pounding against his ribs. Nino huffed slowly trying to get rid of the butterflies from his stomach not knowing what was going to happen.
“Ohno-san, I’m sorry that Riku-kun got confused but you don’t have to confess…” He said slowly not wanting to drag this out any longer knowing that the hope was almost crippling “I will understand…”
“Nino-chan, this is probably not best time and to be honest I never thought that I would confess to you…Um but my son decided that I was going to and I’m sorry but he was right I do have feelings for you and I hope that this doesn’t change anything between us as…”
“You…Have feelings for me?” Nino said again desperate to wrap his head around that as he blinked at Ohno with his heart now located in his throat crushing against his Adam’s apple and pulsing gently. It was not a good feeling and he wished with everything that he had that it would just go away and allow him some time to breathe again. “Why?”
“Why? Because…You’re cute, funny, smart, and efficient…You love Riku like he was your own…You understand me better than anyone I’ve ever met…” Ohno whispered letting out a strained little laugh “I can’t think of a single reason why I wouldn’t have feelings for you…But I understand that you couldn’t possibly have them for me in return but I promised Riku that I would tell you…”
“I do…I…Have feelings…Too…You…I do…”
