Ohno smiled to himself as he sipped the fruit drink one of the younger elves had given to him his eyes on Nino and Aiba who were sitting a little away from the camp with Fee and Swift who appeared to be dancing. At the very least they were both standing on their back legs and walking around in circles facing each other. It was a sight not seen in dune foxes and he made a mental note to ask Aiba why he had taught them such a thing at the moment though he was happy enough to watch Nino and see him smile and laugh like he hadn’t a care in the world. He looked younger like this and far less careworn.

>As always Aiba proves that he can get even the most stubborn or shy to smile and laugh…< Jun hummed coming up behind him and Ohno gave a nod turning to his second, glad to see that some rest had taken the shadows from around his eyes and the pinched look out of his cheeks. He had been forced by a fiercely determined Arianna to sleep inside the cart with her and her nanny and he looked better for it even if his pride might have been damaged.

>Yes…Not for nothing did I bring him with me…There’s will be an amazing friendship I believe…< Ohno hummed in answer to the statement before smiling a little wider and looking his second over again slowly before adding >You are looking well rested now my friend…<

>Then I request that you say the same to my lady Arianna, she is insisting that I ride in the wagon until tomorrow…< Jun said pulling a face that distorted his handsome features as his arms folded over his chest. Ohno laughed loudly surprised by the change that he could see in his friend. Many years lay between them and more often than not it felt as if Jun was trying far too hard to impress him and the others in the clan even when it wasn’t needed. Jun was a capable second, more than Yurrin had been in many ways but the elf never seemed to have realised that now though it was startlingly clear that Jun was developing a better opinion of himself and it helped that Arianna was a sensible girl with a good head on her shoulders, she would serve him well as a partner though in reality she would not be with him for many years.

>It is not my place to come between partners…< Ohno chuckled shaking away the morbid image that had come unbidden to his mind and Jun’s eyes narrowed a little his mouth losing the proud twist that he almost always had before as he almost pleaded with him;

>But as the high king you could say that I am needed…It is embarrassing to ride in the wagon…<

>Your good lady is worried about you, that is all and I share her concern you must have ridden hard and fast to return to us so quickly not to mention any resistance that they might have given you…< Ohno told his second gently his hand patting him on the shoulder in a comforting way >You and your Shire need your rest…Fear not my friend I will not allow you to enter the camp in the wagon…But until we are there you must use the time and rest…<

>You promise that I will enter the clan camp on the back of my Shire?<

>Indeed…For now enjoy what comforts the lady Arianna will give you I imagine she will not stay soft for long…Now I will speak with Masaki and my beloved…<
