Life Changing part 15

krystalkatzficzSatoshi stalked into the flower shop, the money that Kenta had given him firmly in his hand, desperately trying not to replay the image of Nino with his boyfriend. The man was like an angel with his soft halo of hair and handsome, almost beautiful, face. He should have asked who he was but there didn’t seem to be any point Nino might have been growling and snapping at him but it was clear that they had a good relationship. Nino had been smiling almost as brightly as it did when he was looking at him, or he had…He hadn’t looked at him that way for the last few weeks now, even though yesterday had been the first time that he had acted out on whatever it was that was bothering him.
There was so much confusion and anger going around inside of him that he was tempted to kick something. A minute or two ago he had been happy that Nino had defended him and was seemingly back to his regular self but now he was swimming around with so much doubt that he was tempted to cry.
“Is there something that I can help you with?” A friendly voice asked and Satoshi jolted turning to look at the friendly faced woman that he had seen a few times in the church. She was the one that decorated the church with all of the beautiful flowers on Sunday’s. “At Satoshi from the vicarage here for Julia’s birthday?”
“I…Have money…Um…This much…” He said trying to keep the embarrassed growl out of his voice as he held up the coins that had been digging into his rather sweaty palm. The woman gave a smile nodding here head as she said kindly;
“I think that we can sort you out something special for this much, ne…Julia isn’t keen on cut flowers…She much prefers them alive so that she can grow them…Ah I know…” The woman moved out from around her counter and hobbled over to a potted plant that had a minute version of the flowers in Julia’s garden inside. The pot was rather pretty as well with a blood red rose in the middle. “How about this…A miniature rose for her windowsill I am sure that she would like it…I will even give you a card free of charge…”
“Um…Thank-you…” Satoshi mumbled nodding deciding that the plant was better than nothing. The woman gave him a smile and then picked up the plant and carried it over to her counter wrapping it in pretty paper and adding a tiny card that seemed to be hand painted. “You…Did you paint that?”
“No…Not me...Do you like to paint, Satoshi?” She asked gently and Satoshi shook his head while at the same time giving a shrug his eyes never leaving the painted card. It was beautiful with a picture of a boy standing in front of a group of flowers. Mentally he wished that he could paint Nino like that in Julia’s garden before stopping himself and pushing away such thoughts as he gave his answer of;
“Don’t know…Never done it…”
“Maybe you should try it…I still have my things…I’ll give them to you…Hang on a moment…” The woman darted away rather spritely for a woman of her advancing years leaving Satoshi standing in the middle of the shop with an overwhelming sense of confusion that didn’t get any better when he saw Nino peering at him through the window.
