krystalkatzficzSho felt a sense of pride as he led Masaki into the apartment that belonged to Nino and Ohno. It was completely different from Masaki’s comfortable home. Everything was light colours, with sandy coloured walls and a main central wall in an ocean blue colour. On this wall was a large TV that was currently showing a programme about cats though he doubted that any of the occupants was bothering to watch it. On the walls were slightly abstract paintings that Sho supposed had been painted by Ohno and he had to admit that he could see why Nino would have seen potential. They were amazingly detailed even though they were abstract with one or two being of the twins and then a main one of what he supposed was Nino and Ohno’s wedding day.
“Daddy! Papa! Uncle Sho!” The three children shouted running over to them and throwing their arms around them both while a high pitched scream sounded from down the hall from where Sho guessed Nino was being forced to stay.
“Aiba Masaki get your arse in here now before I have to come out there!”
“…Uh-oh! You’re in trouble!” The twins said and Masaki gave a nod hugging them again tightly before kissing their cheeks and getting back to his feet. Sho felt him squeeze his hand and then headed off down the hall leaving him in the living room with the twins, Katrina, and Ohno who appeared to be holding up a box of iced cakes.
“He’ll only shout a little…” Ohno hummed softly walking forward and putting the cakes down onto the table and Sho was embarrassed when his stomach let out a healthy grumble that caused the painter to let out a laugh “Help yourself…Would you like a drink…Tea…Or coffee?”
“Um…Tea…Tea will be fine…” Sho sighed ruffling the children’s head sinking down into the chair and allowing them to climb on top of him cuddling into his body. Even Katrina seemed to be needing reassurance and he supposed that that wasn’t all that surprising since she had already lost her parents and was now confused and scared that she might be losing Masaki as well. “You know he’s fine right? He was just a little upset…He would have come back…” He said trying hard to make sure that they understood him “Things happened…”
“Grandfather and grandmother…They made him lose his jobs…Didn’t they?” Katrina asked in an almost whisper and Sho guessed that he had heard Nino’s earlier ranting and knowing that it was pointless to deny it he nodded slowly saying in the same kind of quiet voice;
“Yes…”
“Why? Do they hate us?” The twins asked and Sho knew that there was no way that he could answer that without either lying or telling them the truth and he wasn’t sure which was the lesser of the two evils. Sho gave a sigh cuddling the overly warm bodies ever more tightly dropping kisses onto all three of their heads thankfully saved from either by Ohno coming over to them to place a cup down onto the glass table stopping as he muttered;
“Coasters” In such a defeated way that Sho was left with the impression that he had been shouted at for his lack of using them in the past.
“What is going to happen now? Daddy needs a job…”
“I already have one…” Masaki whispered from the doorway sounding like he had been crying “Uncle Nino has given me a job with him and Uncle Satoshi...I’m sorry that I worried you…But everything will be okay”
