Masaki hugged his knees looking out at the river that was curved out in front of him like a silvery black serpent. The last time he had sat here was ten years ago just after his confrontation with the Sakurai’s. He had thought that would be the last time he would look at this river and just stare at its beauty but he had come back his twins at his side with a new found sense of importance, he was a daddy that was his job as well as his title and no matter what he would make sure his babies were fed and that they would never have to feel the way he did. Now, now he couldn't find even a cleaning job as the only company that hadn't cared about his grades, or lack thereof, had been turned against him. He had managed to find some construction work but as most of it was done at night when he was needed at home it had served only to make sure that he could afford to pay his electric and water bills. At this rate he would be forced to move away and that thought wasn't a welcome one.

“Masa?” A voice that he really didn't want to hear called out to him and he gave a sob holding himself ever more tightly.

“Go ‘way…” he grumbled somehow knowing that it wouldn't work and sure enough Sho was coming to sit beside him his white coat catching the light. His face had a flushed and sweaty sheen to it telling him that he had ran out of his office without another thought.

“I can't…if I go back without you you'll have three children frantic and your best friend going into labour before you can blink…” Sho sighed his arm sliding around his back and tugging him close. The first instinct Masaki had was to lean into it and let his boyfriend share some of the burden but sense nudged it's way into his mind and he shifted away growling;

“They know that I'd come back…I wouldn't do anything stupid…I'd never leave the twins like that…I just wanted some time to think…”

“I know that, and Nino does…but the children…I suspect that until tonight they had never seen you cry before…I'm sure they've heard you…but they've never seen it and they're scared…”

“They're disappointed! I can't do the things that they want…Ko she is always talking about travelling and being a doctor and Jun he wants to be a writer…” Masaki whispered he was so proud of his children and their dreams but he had to face the reality that he would never be able to afford to send them “but they want to go to these schools and they deserve it but I can't even afford to buy them new clothes and they're growing up so fast!”

“Masaki they are not disappointed…” Sho said when he had finished his rant once again pulling him back against his body “they would wear a sack and be happy because that is the way you raised them and as for schools that is still a long time away…they're still only in 5th grade…”

“I know but I can't even afford to send them to high school…”

“Masaki…I'm hoping that by then we'll be married…”

“You still want to marry me?” Masaki asked in surprise, he thought that their dating was going well but he hadn't been positive.

“All I've ever wanted was to marry you…I'm not giving up now…but first things first…let’s go home and reassure our family…and then we can figure out what to do about your job….”

Sho-chan is pretty sensible, right? I think that's why they make such a good couple, they complement each other!
