Juneiku sighed as he rested back into the chair his feet submerged in water with a concoction of strange looking herbs. If he wasn’t so tired he would have questioned what was in it but Nino seemed harmless, if a little strange, and he didn’t seem to want to hurt him. The broth was warm on his lap, flavoured with ham and alcohol that had removed the coolness that he hadn’t realise was in his stomach while also taking away some of the feeling of dread. His eyes kept going to the door positive that somebody from the temple was going to come bursting through at any moment and take him back. For going against the holy mother he would be confined to his room while they debated what was going to happen to him. They could drag out the debate for weeks and then he would never get to the temple of the moon…If such a place even existed.
His eyes went to Nino who was moving through the inn collecting glasses and chatting with the few remaining people that were still in the inn. Juneiku hadn’t noticed them thinning out but he had noticed that they seemed less interested in him and far more interested in Nino which wasn’t surprising. Even in the heavy clothes the boy was wearing he moved with a grace and agility that many at the temple would have killed to possess. Juneiku had never been able to move with the grace that the dances of the sun required and the priestesses had claimed that it was because he was a man, his body would never be able to move in such ways but he was positive that Nino would be able to move in the soft ways that were needed and he would look beautiful doing so.
“Have you finished sir? Would you like me to take the bowl?” Nino asked appearing at his side as if he had been summoned to him and slowly Juneiku nodded handing over the bowl and spoon blushing just a little at the thoughts that had been moving through his mind. The servant gave him another smile “Is everything okay sir? Are you ready for bed…I have made up the room for you…”
“Have you worked here for Master Godric long, Nino?” He asked trying to not notice the warm flicks of gold that appeared to run through the eyes of the servant as the firelight hit them. He had never been so uncomfortably aware of somebody before. His skin was tingling with the warmth that was coming off of him. Nino was obviously unaware of the things that he was causing him to feel and he smiled happily saying;
“…For as long as I want to remember sir”
“So…You must have heard a lot of stories…” Juneiku said shifting his hips around in the chair trying to recoil away from him without being obvious about it “Um…Have you…Ever heard of the temple of the moon?”
“…No sir, is that where you’re going?”
“Yes...At least I…Hope so…But I…I doubt very much that it exist…”
“I think that it would make sense for it to exist somewhere sir” Nino hummed softly with a little smile on his face. “The long dark happens every year without signs of stopping…It makes sense that somewhere somebody would worship the moon instead of the sun…Even if only because they are afraid…People are predictable like that…”
“Yes…You’re right…Thank-you…”
