Juneiku stared at his bed, or more accurately at the things that were on his bed, his heart swirling around in turmoil as he wondered if he really dared to leave the temple of the sun without the permission of his mother and the council. Not long after he had spoken to the projection of will he had been summoned back into the council and had been told that they had decided that his ‘vision was the mere wandering of his mind’ and that ‘talk moon temple was just a reflection of his own dark feelings’. Unable to believe what he was hearing from his own mother Juneiku had failed to mention the projection again, knowing for certain that the women would believe magic would be able to break through the protections they had placed on the sun temple.
Juneiku still couldn’t believe it himself, the charms that were on the temple were some of the strongest that he had ever seen resulting in his mother losing all of her strength for a few days after casting them. For a full bodied projection to get through the charms meant that the caster must have some serious power or that the charms weren’t as powerful as Leofflaed had hoped which was probably half of the reason why she was refusing accept it as anything but his own failings and weakness of mind.
He had always known that his mother resented him. His birth was a symbol that she had gone against her vow of chastity that all the priestesses took when entering the faith of the sun, but he had also given her power…He was the one that the high priestess had said would stop the long darkness…Which was why she had never cast him from her side. Juneiku hadn’t known anything about the prophecy when he had been young though but he had known that Leofflaed had left his care to an array of wet nurses and sometimes even her own father rather than have him near her, until of course they had built the temple and she had been made high priestess because of him when he was 6 years old.
Leofflaed had used him as a prop then, always making sure that he was by her side when dealing with those that came to worship at the temple and pay for the protections that they gave. From the age of 6 he had grown to realise that his mother was a cold women with little to no maternal instinct inside her but he had never expected her to refuse to allow him to follow a lead to stopping the long darkness.
“You think that she wants to stop that?” The whispering voice of the projection asked again, its voice so close to his ear that Juneiku gave a shudder and a gasp spinning around and finding, to his horror that his face brushed against the smoke of the figure “That any of them do?”
“Of course…They are the sun priestesses…Chosen to guard against the dark…” Juneiku said instantly spouting the code that he had been taught.
“They were…” The shadow scoffed giving a bitter laugh the flowing robe shaking a little “But that was a long time ago…But now…They are bitter and twisted old hags that only care about the gold they are given…What do they care of the dark? Of the cold when they are in here…Come you must leave now…The journey is long…And I am waiting…”

A/N: I hope that this is okay ^_^
