“Are you sure Ohno-san is willing to help?” Sakurai asked when they were back in Aiba’s apartment later that night. Every bone and muscle in his body was aching from the constant bending and weeding while his hands were sore from the fighting with the weeds. He would have rather put weed killer down and left it at that but his lover had insisted that that was the worst possible thing that they could do as it would not only kill the flowers that were already there clinging to life in the depths of the garden but also make it unlikely that any new flowers they plant would grow and thrive.
“Yes! He seems to be looking forward to it! I told you he likes building things!” Aiba replied happily skipping over the room looking completely fine even though he had been doing as much as he had. “Do you want a bath Sho-chan…And we should rub some cream into your back…I am sure that it was tense today…”
At the mention of his back Sakurai froze for just a fraction knowing that his lover was right, he could feel the short sharp stinging pain that was there every time he moved but he was in so much pain everywhere else it seemed unimportant. It was typical that Aiba would think of it though and he gave his lover a smile glad to be rid of his mask again. It had grown uncomfortable throughout the busy day and more than once he had wanted to remove it but he had felt uncomfortable exposing himself like that to all those people even if most of them had already proved that they didn’t care about the scars. His problem ran deeper than that though and even though he had been told by almost everyone to remove it he only felt comfortable doing so now in the apartment with Aiba.
“Thank-you…” He whispered watching his lover go to the bathroom to put on the taps to fill up the bath as he sorted out the shower head and soap against the small stool “But what about you?”
“I’ll have a shower in the bedroom…It will be quicker that way!” Aiba answered coming out of the bathroom and picking up the pink and glitter covered book from the side where he had put after coming in “I want to start reading the book! I can’t believe that you made me a character in the pretty princess stories!”
“It was before I knew you properly…So your character is flawed…” Sakurai mumbled embarrassed by it all now. When he had been writing that story Aiba was something like an angel to him, he still was, but he had been less human. In his book Aiba’s character was now an angel prince that had been sent to Aeromantia to help the princesses to defeat the bad guy. He was wise and thoughtful, nothing like the easily overly excited man that was bouncing up and down in front of him.
“I’m still excited! I can’t believe that you came up with them!” Aiba said his tone as bright as ever turning the book over and reading the blurb on the back “They are so beautiful…I love Samson the cat…Why can he talk? Ah! I know! He was once a human who got trapped in the mind of a cat right?!”
“…You’ll have to read it and see…” Sakurai chuckled knowing that his lover had hit the nail on the head. His stories didn’t follow a linier storyline…Not as such…He had a plot in the back of his mind while he worked but each of the chapters were written based on his moods. It was why they were written in so many different perspectives as each of the princesses had different personalities…It also made the plot pretty fluid and easily changed…He supposed that it didn’t matter the goal was the same, they had to defeat the bad guy at the end.
“Eh!” Aiba cried out causing him to fall out of his thoughts with a bump as he looked at him realising that he had opened the book and was looking at the title page. “You haven’t signed it!”
“What?” He asked blinking slowly as the book was suddenly thrust against his chest and Aiba was running around the room looking for a pen gasping out loudly;
“You said that you would give me your autograph! Please Sho-chan!”
“But…Why would you want my autograph? Um…We’re dating…” Sakurai rolled his eyes slowly knowing that no matter how long he was with his lover he would probably never completely understand the way that his mind worked. He supposed that it was a strange and happy place, rather like the world he himself had created.
“I still want your autograph! More so now I know you wrote this!” Aiba said flourishing the pen at him happily and Sakurai gave another eye roll but smiled as he took it folding open the front panel and frowning. He had never written an autograph before, the company had employed a woman to pretend to be the writer and to go to all of the events in his place. It was a strange sort of contract but there was no way that he could go and terrify the kids with his face. Shaking away that thought from his mind he looked at the book again still not sure what he was meant to write until he gave a hum bit on his lip writing simply;
“Thank-you for being you and for always smiling at me…I love you with all of my heart, Sakurai Sho”
“Sho-chan…The bath is ready!” Aiba hummed as he was snapping the book closed and he turned with a smile handing it over to him. “You did it!”
“Yup…” Embarrassment and fear clawed its way through him as his heart pounded uncomfortably against his ribs as he watched Aiba reading the hastily scrawled inscription “I’ll go bathe…”
“…Sho-chan…Forever…I’ll smile at you forever…”
“Um…Thank-you…” Sakurai replied not sure what else to say before he made his way out of the room and into the bathroom that smelled of flowers. He knew that it was from whatever Aiba had put in his bath water but it was becoming a scent that he associated with his lover. From his garden to his hair, it was flowers…The most beautiful scent of flowers and he was smiling as he stripped out of his dirty clothes and dropped them into the wicker basket, sitting on the stool he washed the sweat from his body and hair before getting into the perfumed bath and letting out a long sigh as the ache and tension from his limbs seeped away.
He was in the bath for longer than he had intended to be and it was only when he was wrapping a towel around himself that he realised that he hadn’t brought any more clothes in with him. Reluctantly he headed out into the apartment and found his lover curled up in a chair reading the first chapter of his book. He looked up with a smile when he saw him and Sakurai found himself smiling back not uncomfortable when his eyes moved over his body.
“Ready for your cream Sho-chan?”
“Yes…”
“Sho-chan…In your story…Are you the bad guy? The Snarl? I never realised before today but he is heavily scared to…Living in a cave even without even a henchmen…” Aiba whispered as he gently started to rub the cream into his back. His hands were much more confident at touching him on his back now and Sakurai had to refocus his mind to be able to answer, though it was pretty clear that the answer was a resounding yes.
“A little…I don’t actually kidnap princess though…” He joked weakly and wasn’t surprised when Aiba leaned forward and kissed him on the centre of his back whispering;
“…One day I will manage to convince you that you are not an evil creature from a fairy story…But…At least you will never be alone now…You are mine and I will love you with all of my heart for the rest of my life…”
