Trouble in paradise part fifty-one

krystalkatzficz“Dad…Don’t you dare…” Nino growled darting over the dancefloor and grabbing a hold of his dad’s arm the moment he saw him walking towards his friend. In his heart he wanted to let them just get it on together, he didn’t mind being his friend’s date but he was tired of the little longing looks that they were sending to each other. He thought that they should just go and do whatever it was that his father had plan for after but he knew that if Sho went over to them now it would cause a shit storm of people trying to claim that Sakurai was a pervert. “Do you think that that crowd surrounding him would be happy if you went over there and pulled him away…?”
“…I…Um…I guess…You’re right…I don’t know what I was thinking, Jun he sounded pretty convincing…” Sho mumbled sounding so depressed now that Nino felt guilty that he had stopped him while also being angry at the school nurse. He looked around Sho’s arm and saw the man sat in a chair looking like a rock star who had climbed down from the stage and was mingling with the regular folks. The man caught him looking and lifted his glass with a smile before sipping the pink liquid. “...He played on my jealousy I guess…”
“Why are you so jealous? He’s only having his picture taken, most of these people he will never see again…” Nino shrugged waving his hand at his best friend while Masaki was being surrounded by the gangly members of the basketball team. They all looked like various delinquents with their hair inhuman colours but every single member smiled happily as their picture was taken “…I’m sure you and he will be seeing each other every day if Masaki gets his way…I think he’s already got plans to live with you…”
“I’m too far away from his college…” Sho mumbled in a tone of voice that indicated to Nino that the pair had already thought about it, or his father had at least, and he wasn’t sure if he felt a pang of jealousy or not. “Plus he wouldn’t want to leave his little friendship club…My apartment would be too far for that…”
“So…?” Nino questioned knowing that there was more to what his father was saying and his feelings were confirmed when Sho gave a little shrug and an awkward smile before answering;
“So…I’m thinking of getting a house closer…”
“Only thinking about it?” Nino prompted again recognising the look that was in his father’s eye as when he was lying to him and Sho gave another little sigh and admitted;
“…Doing it…I was going to show him later…I know that you will think I’m rushing…”
“Why? It’s not like you’re getting any younger and it will be nice to know that you’re not going to only eat ready meals…”
“Masaki hasn’t let me do that in months…He makes me food and freezes it…” Sho smiled his face lighting up with a happiness that Nino knew was reserved for his friend. He had gotten over his awkwardness about the pair but that didn’t change the fact that he still got little pangs of jealousy when he realised that they were so happy. “Well since I can’t dance with Masaki…What about you?"
“What?! No way!”
“Aww but you’re my darling son!” Sho laughed hugging him tightly and swaying him to the music that was being played by the band on stage and although Nino thought he should he didn’t pull away and allowed the dance to continue happier than ever when Sho told him “There is a room for you as well…More than there is in my apartment now…You can stop over whenever you want…”
“Thanks dad…” Nino whispered in response fighting his embarrassment to wrap his arms around his back moving with the music.
