Ohno stared at the painting trying to take in as many details as he could while still trying to take it all in wondering how anyone couldn’t see how fantastic the work was. The details of the daisies, the little characters and the larger characters…They were beautiful. He had seen prints of the painting numerous times but he had never dreamed that he would be this close to the actual painting.
“You really like it, ne?” The boy that had gotten him in chuckled lightly at his side and Ohno almost flushed as he nodded almost frantically his hand pointing at that was in front of them murmuring;
“He worked on it for nine years, but he still said it wasn’t finished…”
“Not finished…What the hell wasn’t finished…?”
“Yeah that part there was only sketched in…Not painted…” Ohno hummed pointing to a small section of the painting. “But that doesn’t matter…Can’t you see how it looks almost 3D…?”
“I suppose…” Nino agreed reluctantly, clearly not sharing his enthusiasm for the painting “…Is that a dragon fly playing a musical instrument?”
“Yup…” Ohno chuckled his eyes going to the creature on the left hand side that was indeed a dragonfly playing a trumpet showing how small the fairy folk were meant to be.
“…It is a beautiful painting, I agree…But I think that the expressions on your face are a lot more attractive…” Nino chuckled and now Ohno did flush brightly giving an embarrassed smile as he turned to look at the boy. He was positive that Nino was making a joke but to his surprise he could see only honesty in the thin expression. Around them there were more people clamouring to look at the painting and reluctantly Ohno moved away hoping he would be able to get another look before they had to leave though he was now just as interested in the boy that was in front of him. “Sorry…I guess I made you uncomfortable…I have a habit of being too blunt…Um…They gave my family a bunch of stuff to come to this thing, cups, books, and other stuff…Do you want it? I’m sure you can find more use for it than we ever would…”
“Who are you?” Ohno asked suddenly as he was again struck with a familiar sensation of knowing this person. It had become clear to him that almost everyone there was famous, he had already recognised one or two of the people around him. The boy smiled rolling his shoulders a little as he ruffled up his own hair with his fingertips.
“Me…I’m nobody…My parents are somebody...” He mumbled looking so troubled by it that Ohno didn’t press any further for an explanation. “…Come on I’ll get you that stuff…”
*~*~*~*~*~*~*
“Would you like a drink?” Ohno asked ignoring the question that Nino had given him, sighing to himself as he wondered how he could ever have believed it. Of course Nino wouldn’t have a girlfriend. The boy was gay…Gay and in love with him…Or at least so he said. According to Nino he had been in love with him since they had first met. Ohno wasn’t as romantic as all that, he didn’t believe in love at first sight and now it was impossible for them. He was his teacher and that was the way that it had to stay even if there were days when he wanted more. Pushing that thought aside he went to the small supply closet/office that he had in the far corner of the room leaving Nino to follow behind after him.
