krystalkatzficz"A royal?” Kazu hissed gripping the phone tightly his cheeks stained a deep red not even recognising the happy greeting that Ohno had given him. It was finally time for their half an hour conversation and his nerves had gotten the better of him as soon as he had been told that he was allowed to call and now he could hear the artist humming softly down the line saying sarcastically;
“Oh, hello Satoshi! I missed you too…Are you okay? I’m good thanks…”
“Sorry…How are you..? And I have…Missed you…” Kazu flushed brightly dropping like a stone into the metal seat in the far end of the kitchen where his dad could keep an eye on him. “It’s just Masa told me…And…I panicked…”
“It’s okay, I panicked a little as well…” Ohno sighed and Kazu was glad that it sounded like he was smiling again and he allowed an almost smile to fall over his lips his eyes closing as he tried to picture what his face would look like in that moment. “I was only told when we came back and yesterday I had more important things on my mind…”
“More important? What’s more important? A royal is coming to your show…” Kazu hissed against his eyes flying open as he jumped up from the chair and started to pace around the room caressing the phone as a bubble of nerves forming so quickly inside his chest as he wondered if he was going to be there as Ohno’s date or even just his model. Would the royal look at his picture? Would they like it? He still hadn’t seen it yet but now it was starting to dawn on him that in just a short week 100’s of people were going to see him dressed as a fairy situated next to the painting of his mum. “That’s going to make headlines if it’s a part of the main family…”
“You are…You are far more important to me than any royal that is coming to my show, my fairy prince…” Ohno purred in his ear sounding so genuine and honest that Kazu couldn’t help but flush and drop back down into the chair his eyes going to his dad who was sending him small, almost frustrated stares every few minutes “I am flattered that they are coming and like my work but I’d be even happier if they buy something so I don’t have to do another show for a while…If ever…”
“How can you be so…Blasé about this? Most people wait their whole lives to be recognised you’ve only ever had one show up until now…” Kazu sighed torn between exasperated and fond that his lover was so relaxed about his fame. He heard Ohno give a sigh and mentally he could see him giving that small uninterested shoulder roll that passed for a shrug before he answered with a simple;
“I paint what I like…For me…Sometimes I have to sell what I paint but I already know that most of the people that are coming to my show are coming because they like what I do…Of course there will be the critics but…You can’t please everyone and even if you could you shouldn’t because different opinions are what makes humans unique…”
“You…You are such an artist…” Kazu mumbled sighing when he saw his father’s pointed gestures at the wall telling him that they had already used fifteen of their treasured minutes. “What have you been doing today?”
“I finished your picture and the set where it is going to sit…My masterpiece…” Ohno purred again and Kazu sighed flushing brightly as he remembered their weekend and the masterpiece that had been created then. Not wanting his dad to read his emotions in his face he quickly changed the subject happily talking about anything and everything till their minutes ended.
