“It’s a date!”
“It’s not a date…” Ninomiya ‘Nino’ Kazunari said with a sigh fed up with having the same argument over and over again. “It’s a business meeting…”
“On Valentine’s Day?” Aiba Masaki his quickly becoming ex-best friend smirked rolling his eyes sarcastically as he jumped up and down on Nino’s double bed his arms folding over his chest and his eyes running over him. Nino blinked at that his eyes going to the calendar on his wall seeing that it was indeed the fourteenth of February, otherwise known as Valentine’s Day. He hadn’t realised that when he had agreed to the meeting and now Nino was having a not so mild freak out in front of the mirror. It took a long time to calm down again. It wasn’t a date, no matter what his irritatingly annoying best friend was saying…But it was with a guy that he had fancied for as long as he had known him…Who also happened to be his boss…Matsumoto Jun. The man was incredible to look at but Nino knew from experience that he had a sour personality and waspish tongue that he had had been on the receiving end more than once. “Okay…if it’s not a date…What is it that you are meant to be working on?”
“I…Don’t know…” Nino admitted honestly, as far as he could remember he had just been sitting at his desk and Jun had come over to him asking if he was free on Saturday and if he was he would come for him at 8o’clock…When it was said like that…It could almost be interpreted as a date invitation but Nino was sure that it wouldn’t be “There’s bound to be other people there…” He muttered the nerves in his stomach getting stronger while Masaki just continued to laugh “What about you? What are your plans with the great lover?”
“Hmm…Sho-chan already gave me chocolates this morning!” Masaki grinned happily his face taking on the happy glow that it always did when he was thinking about his lover and Nino couldn’t say he blamed him. Sakurai Sho was a local TV anchor man and he was gorgeous with a fantastic body that was well hidden under expensive suits. “But he’s stopping by soon so I can cook him dinner and he can eat his dessert from my body…”
“Too much information…” Nino whined though he knew that it was mostly from jealously he hadn’t had anyone near his body for so long his cock was positive that they had joined a monastery or something. It didn’t help having Masaki’s cries of pleasure floating through the wall every night. He was about to tell his friend to keep the noise down tonight when the doorbell rang sharply and he knew that his not date had arrived.

Matsumoto Jun studied himself carefully in the mirror, making sure that not a hair on his head or eyebrows was out of place before tasting his smile a few times. It was an almost unfamiliar expression on his mouth and it appeared that his muscles need a few moments to remember how to form it correctly. He was a little nervous about tonight if he were honest…It had been so long since he had been on a date that he was positive that there were going to be a few mistakes that he would make, he had already started by asking the man out in the middle of their working day but he knew that if didn’t he would have lost his chance. He worked a lot longer hours than the support staff and he knew that it wasn’t fair to ask the man to wait behind for something so personal. He was surprised that Nino had no other engagements planned for Valentine’s Day, he had been sure that there would be somebody that he would have tucked away.
He had taken an interest in Nino since his first interview…He was sorry to say he had even hired the man over a much more qualified applicant because of his less than professional interest but he was happy to say that not once had Nino let him down. He worked hard at his job and Jun had begun to treasure the moments that he walked passed the man’s cubicle and he would be there smiling at him. It was that that had given him the courage needed to ask him out on a date in the first place…He had been expecting a muffled apology but instead Nino had grinned and nodded happily.
Sighing just enough to flutter a few unruly strands of hair away from his eyes Jun sprayed himself with just a hint of cologne before nodding knowing that there was nothing else he could do. Walking to the door of his apartment he collected the box of expensive chocolates from the side and then seemingly wrapped his confidence around himself like a second set of clothes refusing to let anyone see the insecure side of him that had been there since school.
The drive to his date’s apartment was surprisingly long as the road took him out of the main area of town to little houses that he had read about them being turned into apartments a few years ago. They cost a little less than his own apartment and they offered a more homely feel than his sleek penthouse apartment but he knew that he wouldn’t change his apartment for anything as it was his symbol of how hard he had worked. Parking up outside the correct number he cast another look in the rear-view mirror and then nodded clearing his throat as he grabbed the box of chocolates and got out of the car. As he was walking up the five steps to the door he was completely surprised by the fact that a local celebrity was standing beside him a large bouquet of flowers, Jun was sure that there were a 100 red roses and a 100 white ones in his arms. The man nodded at him with a smile and then rang the bell. Jun clutched at his box of chocolates looking both confused and angry at the man wondering if he had gotten the wrong end of the stick.

“Matsumoto-san…” Nino stopped his eyes growing wide as was met by a giant rose bush and not his boss like he had been expecting. For a moment his heart soared thinking that maybe Masaki had been right before plummeting again when he heard the familiar but muffled voice of Sho behind the flowers.
“Let us in Nino…” The man asked breathing deep as he peered out from behind the flowers and Nino moved to the said allowing the gift bearer into the apartment about to close the door again when he saw his boss standing to one side looking confused, hurt, and furious all at one.
“Matsumoto-san…Sorry! I didn’t see you there!” He gasped stepping forward and stopping again when he saw a deep red heart shaped box in the man’s hands. His mouth went dry and desperately he tried to bring it back by licking nervously at his lips shocked when Jun turned on his heel and started walking away again muttering vague apologises in his breath about disturbing his date. “Date? What…Me? No!” Nino shouted hurrying after the man glad when he managed to grab a tight hold of the back of the purple shirt his was wearing “Not me…Him…He…He’s there for Masaki…My roommate…”
“Roommate…You…You have a roommate…” Jun whispered turning around again looking less scary than he did in the office as his eyes searched his face trying to read the truth there.
“Yup…Roommate…I…Um…Are they for me?” Nino asked cheekily smiling a little as Jun seemed to recover himself and gave a nod pushing the chocolates towards him muttering;
“Of course…I thought chocolates were appropriate for the day…But now I think they must be inadequate against such a display…”
“Ah those two…They think every day is Valentine’s Day…They don’t need a reason to be sappy…” Nino sighed rolling his eyes as he heard the squeal coming from inside the apartment “Honestly though…I thought…I didn’t realise that this was a date so I didn’t get you anything…”
“You didn’t? I thought I made myself clear…What did you think it was?” Jun asked with genuine confusion in his face as he bit on his bottom lip and Nino gave a smile and a shrug fingering the velvet box that the chocolates were in before answering;
“I…Um…A business meal…”

“On Valentine’s Day? That would have been too cruel…” Jun hummed thoughtfully casting his mind back as he wondered if he had really made it seem that way. It was possible but only because he had felt his own embarrassment at asking. He watched as Nino gave another shrug clearly growing defensive as he snapped;
“Well I didn’t know that you even liked me! How would I think that it was a date?”
“So why would you agree to go with me…If…You didn’t know…?” Jun asked hope flaring anew inside of him. For a moment it had dimmed but now it was back and he was hoping that it wasn’t a mistake to hope.
“I didn’t know…I didn’t even remember that it was Valentine’s Day…But I was happy enough to have any excuse to see you more often…” Nino admitted with a faint blush in his cheeks his fingers moving over the plush box “This confusion could have been avoided you know? You don’t treat me any differently than you would anyone else…”
“And…At work I never will…” Jun answered softly taking a step forward and grabbing a hold of the hand that wasn’t holding the box and whispered “But…If you agree to go on this Valentine’s Day date with me…I promise that I’ll treat you differently outside of work…”
“Fine…But next year…You tell me it’s a real date…”
“Deal…”
*~*~*~One Year later~*~*~*
Nino hummed as he got ready trying his hardest to look passed the forest of roses that he had received that morning from his lover. There were 100’s of them in more colours than he had ever known roses to come in as it was clear Jun was out to outdo Sakurai’s 200 from last year. His favourites were the ones on his dressing table…They were mostly white but each of the delicate petals was coloured with a purplish red and they gave off an almost dazzling scent. He smiled happily as he thought about his past year, Jun had been truthful when he said that he wouldn’t treat him any differently at work but he more than made up for it when they were alone.
“It’s a date!” Masaki laughed coming into his bedroom dressed in an open shirt and with a smile that would kill a lessor man and Nino gave a chuckle nodding happily.
“Yup it is…What are your plans?”
“Sho-chan’s tied up in my bedroom blind folded…”
“Too much information…” Nino sighed though it was only half hearted now, he and Jun did their fair share of moaning and grunting when they were together and he made a mental note to ask his lover what his feelings were about being blindfolded. Just as he was grinning to himself the doorbell rang and he almost tripped over his own bed and then sofa in his mad rush to answer it. Jun stood in his doorway with a large red velvet box of chocolates wearing a seductive smile whispering;
“I’m here for our date…Happy Valentine’s Day…”
