Jun opened the door of his apartment feeling surprisingly nervous as he flicked the switch and very lightly called out;
“I’m back…”
“You…Live with someone?” Nino asked gently from his side peering into the empty apartment and Jun flushed just a tiny bit though he wasn’t normally embarrassed about his ritual. He would never tell anyone even on pain of death that it made him feel a little less lonely to call out to the apartment even though there was nobody to say it back to him.
“No…Come on in…” Jun said propelling Nino into the apartment with a hand on the centre of his back and he stepped in behind him kicking off his shoes and motioning for his band mate to do the same. It was the work of a few moments to stack them away neatly in the cupboard and pull out his slippers. He could never understand how anyone could just leave their shoes in a heap against the door as it was the first thing that people saw when they arrived. “Make yourself at home…” He murmured to Nino who nodded and strolled deeper into the apartment looking around with an almost blank expression on his face before he turned and stood in front of him with his hands on his hips.
“Jun…Thank-you…I know that you had to say that stuff while we were at the hospital and I’m glad that you came and fixed me up but…”
Nino stalled for a moment and sucked in a long breath telling Jun what was going to come before it came out in a long hiss of breath with Nino fixing him with the hardest stare that he could manage “I have to go home…Tomorrow…After work…What do we have tomorrow?”
“VS...” Jun supplied quickly going through the mental calendar in his brain knowing that the days had become rather fluid and interchangeable for him over the last couple. Nothing but seeing Nino in the hospital had even come under important. Nino let out a hum nodding slowly before saying;
“Fine…Well after that I have to go back…”
“Nino…I know that you think you love this guy…” Jun hummed remembering what the doctor had said and forcing away his normal impatience to try and reason with him though it was clear that it wasn’t going to work.
“…That…That has nothing to do with this…” Nino groaned rolling his eyes and dropping down onto the chair fixing him with a stare before the mask crumbled away and the terrified person that Jun had seen that night in that apartment came through as he whispered “Don’t you see? If I don’t go back…He’ll tell everyone…He will out me to the whole of Japan…”
“He hasn’t said anything yet…” Jun shrugged having to admit that he had searched even the trashiest of tabloids to see if there was an article but so far there had been nothing not even a snifter.
“…He won’t do it yet…He will go away for a few days…Get sober again…Before…” Nino sank down to the chair that was near him and missed it completely landing on the floor with a bump. The switch in his personality was something that Jun hadn’t been expecting even though all his research had suggested that there would be mood swings. This was so unlike the Nino that he knew that he couldn’t help but cross the room and tug him into a hug resting his head against his chest. “…Jun…Don’t you understand? I’ve…Made such a mess over everything…The only way that I can fix it is if I go back…”
“…No…I’m sorry Nino but I can’t do that…” Jun murmured his fingers threading almost tightly in the mop of brown hair that was tickling against his chin and cheek. The image of Nino in that dark apartment sprawled out like a broken doll fixed so clearly in his mind it was like he was back there. Nino sobbed loudly his seemingly tiny body shuddering against his as his fingers clawed at his back. Only a few times in his life had he been witness to Nino genuinely crying and most of them had happened in the last few days. He couldn’t believe how much his bandmate was going through and how much he thought that he had to do so alone. “And I swear no matter what happens I’m with you okay?”
“Even if…It comes out and they fire me?”
“…They won’t but even then…I swear…I’ll be straight out the door behind you…” Jun whispered hoping his honest promise would be enough to convince Nino that he wasn’t alone with all of this. All his research had told him that most victims of domestic abuse believed that they were on their own that nobody would believe what was happening to them. He knew that words alone wouldn’t be enough but that was all he had for the time being. Nino stayed silent then holding him just a little bit tighter as the tears rolled freely down his cheeks. Jun wasn’t sure how long they stayed in that awkward position but he did feel it when Nino slumped slightly having cried himself to sleep. Pulling back Jun looked down at the pale face of the man that he had known for years but was only really starting to know and gave a smile as his eyelid fluttered for a moment and his bottom lip stuck out like a baby in sleep. He looked unbelievably cute like that and Jun felt a surge of something flood through his heart.
Smiling he braced himself the best that he could and, still hugging him tightly, picked Nino up from the chair and carried him into the spare bedroom that he had had been using as a home gym. It hadn’t taken much to convert it into a bedroom but he thought that it didn’t look exactly homely and after a half second of deliberation he changed his mind and carried him to his bedroom laying him down on the big double bed that he loved with a passion. He knew that he was going to miss it but as he knew that it was going for a good reason his heart felt a little better about it. The only problem he had now was trying to get Nino to release him. For a slim guy he had an impressive grip and when Jun finally did release him the other man let out a whimper reaching out to him. He let his hands run over the narrow face until Nino had calmed down again and then pulled the quilt up over him before heading out into the kitchen and working out what he was going to make them knowing that Nino wouldn’t sleep for long before hunger woke him.
Jun was putting the finishing touches to pork cutlets and rice when he heard footsteps heading into his way. The door to the living room opened and he looked up with a smile facing a sleep ruffled Nino looking at him sheepishly. His face was clear from any signs of the tears that he had cried before going to sleep but he looked flushed and he chewed on his lips in embarrassment for a minute or two before shuffling into the room and dropping himself down into the wooden chair near him.
“Hey…Sleep well?”
“The bed is too soft…But…Yeah…Thanks…” He mumbled slowly playing around with the napkin that had been set out on the table “You don’t have to play nursemaid…”
“I’m not, I’m being a friend…Now come on and eat…” Jun said placing the last of the dishes down on the table in front of his houseguest. Nino flashed him a very weak smile and as Jun sat down in front of him they held up their hands together. It was a strangely quiet meal, completely different from any of the others that they had every shared together, but Jun knew that that would be considered normal given everything that had happened over the last couple of days, it would take time for them to become used to each other again.

Date: 2015-02-09 11:17 am (UTC)It's hard to deal with this situation... The more you say, the more the abused person defends his agressor. It can be frustrating!
I'm happy Jun found his way through Nino, at least for now.
