By the time she was ready to face the world again, Kazuko had bathed washing all the grime from her body and hair and the sun had started to go down behind the buildings. There was a sweet scent of food in the air and for a moment she was sure that she was imagining it. She was the only one that ever made use of the spacious kitchen and that was only when Sho came home. She supposed that either her mother or father had ordered a takeaway. Making sure that she looked a least vaguely human in the mirror she headed out onto the landing almost colliding into Masayo who was standing on the landing with her hand raised into a knock. The older girl looked at her for a minute and then gave a bright laugh lowering her hand.

“Sorry about that I thought that I should come and get you…I made dinner…” She said brightly and Kazuko had to blink in surprise as she processed that statement before asking;

“You made dinner?”

“Yup…Oh-chan and I went and got some stuff…Come on I promise that it will taste good! I’m pretty good cook…” Masayo laughed again and putting her arm around his shoulders and guiding her out of the room and down the landing. Kazuko had to wonder if there was anything that she couldn’t do. She would have been the perfect girl for Sho if she hadn’t come along and ruined everything. She forced away the feeling of self-hate though remembering her mother’s words about having to face up to her actions.

It was a strange sight to see her parents both sat at the table with Sho and Ohno and it was an even stranger sensation to see the table so full with obviously homemade food. It all looked incredible though with soups and fluffy rice sprinkled with flavouring. Her seat was next to next to Sho and she was glad of his comforting warmth against his arm and leg more so when he pressed it against hers and his hand brushed against her arm.

“Everything okay?” He asked in a whisper pouring her out a glass of cool green tea and pushing more vitamins at her. Kazuko gave a nod and weak smile hoping that it reached her eyes.

“Yes thanks, Nii-chan…” She whispered hating that term but knowing that it was required in front of her parents. She looked up and saw her father beaming happily and Masayo and she wondered if he even realised that he was doing it. She was in no illusion that her parents were a happy couple but she thought that he could at least keep his eyes in his head instead of bulging out of his face every time the girl moved.

“Good…Masayo-chan cooked all this food…And I am sure that it tastes as good as it looks” He purred and Kazuko saw the girl flush happily as she sat down next to Ohno her fingers brushing his cheek lightly in a way that nobody else noticed.

“Thanks I hope that you all enjoy…” She grinned and together they all put their hands together and said their gratitude for the meal before beginning to eat. The food was as nice as it looked and although she had thought that she wouldn’t have an appetite it wasn’t long before her stomach was full and she was patting it happily.

“That was great thanks, Masayo-chan…” She said and the girl beamed at her from the other side of the table her own cheeks puffed out like a puffer fish filled with all the food she could manage.

“Sho-kun is a lucky man, ne?” Shu said and Kazuko nodded turning to look at her brother who gave a small smile that didn’t really reach his eyes and Kazuko allowed her hands to run up and down his leg under the table thankful when he took her hand giving it a small squeeze and nobody noticed.

Sho sighed softly his fingers running around in circles around the palm of his sister. He knew that they were being far too open but he also knew that Kazuko needed comfort and so did he. Ohno and Masayo had already arranged it so they could go out on a double date but so far Kazuko seemed to have had no idea. The meal ended and he was glad that his father seemed determined to impress Masayo.

“You young people should go out and enjoy yourselves…Wasn’t there a film that you wanted to watch?” He asked getting to his feet and happily stacking the dishes. Sho noticed that his sister stiffened and there was a flash of panic in her face as he mumbled in a faintly deadpan voice;

“A film? I…”

“You’re going…You can’t just sit moping around in here…” Gina muttered in a harsh tone and Sho was very tempted to clench his fists and growl at his mother thinking that she was being far too harsh on Kazuko. Just when he was about to say something though Kazuko let out a low laugh squeezing at his fingers to stop him from speaking.

“Okay mum…I guess that you’re right…A date will be fun…” She said her eyes on Ohno but Sho saw that she very briefly glance at him and Sho risked giving her hand another squeeze before letting it go and resting it on the table.

“There that’s settled then…You had better get going…Be careful and try not to eat too much junk food…” Shu smiled and almost as one unit the four teens got to their feet and left the dining room to get their coats. In silence they got ready with Ohno helping Kazuko into her coat while Sho did the same for Masayo. It felt for a moment that this was the way that they were meant to be and he knew that if he and Kazuko were normal this was probably the way that it would have been but he also knew that he didn’t get the same pleasure or excitement when he touched or even looked at Masayo. He felt a sting of jealousy in his heart when he saw his friend take a hold of Kazuko’s hand and lead her out of the house. Masayo patted him gently on the shoulder and then grinned holding out her own hand to him.

“Come on Sho-chan…Let’s get going…”

“Yeah, sure…” Sho took the hand that felt too large in his. Masayo’s fingers felt odd as they curled their way around his in a completely different way than Kazuko’s did.

“It’s only for a little while ne?” Masayo whispered against his ear and Sho tried to smile knowing that the girl and Ohno were just trying to help after all. “I’ve been thinking that we should go on a long holiday together…”

“What?” Sho asked in surprise and the girl gave a shrug and another happy smile almost skipping at his side as they walked down the street. The street lamps were only just starting to come on casting everything in a warm translucent orange glow. Sho let his eyes fall on Kazuko who was walking a few feet a head her hand still locked with Ohno’s and they seemed to be enjoying a pleasant conversation. Sho smiled glad that her head was once again high he had been walking around like the whole world was on her shoulders for much too long.

“Well…Kazuko-chan will be okay to travel for a while yet but we could all ditch school and college for a while…It will do you go to get away…If we go far enough nobody will know about you and Kazuko-chan so you could be a couple…” Masayo explained sounding troubled when he didn’t speak for a while and Sho quickly flashed her a smile squeezing the uncomfortable hand that was in his.

“I think that it sounds great…I guess that I should have thought about it…” He mumbled realising that he had to stop walking around with his head in the clouds now. Kazuko was pregnant and he had to figure things out now “I suppose…It would all depend on if I could get my parents to agree…”

“Don’t worry about that, Sho-chan…” Masayo giggled saucily giving a broad wink that Sho should have guessed meant she was going to be having fun “I’ll get your dad to agree…

I really like this series. I hope you can continue and finish the fic.
I never into incest plot but this fic somehow heartbreaking.. I really hope that Sho and Kazuko aren't real siblings, a secret never been told by their parents!
