Never comes the day part 15

Sho stared at his sister in shocked silence before sighing and shaking his head knowing that he couldn’t agree to her request. It was much too troublesome for them to do something like that here. His parents had gone out it was true but he didn’t think that he would be able to perform knowing that Masuyo and Ohno were downstairs knowing what they were doing. He knew that they were accepting of them but it was still an awkward situation for them all.
“I’m sorry, Kazuko…I can’t do that…” He whispered his arms wrapping around her shaking form and kissing the top of her silky head his heart slicing open when she gave a heart wrenching sob her fingernails clawing at his front. Hot tears soaked into his t-shirt until eventually she sagged falling into a deep sleep from the stress and strain of the day. He continued to hold her on the floor for a while before picking her up in his arms and carrying her to the bed. It gently lay her down covering her with a soft downy blanket. He sat on the edge of the bed and then very lightly stroked her hair away from her face. His fingertips caressed the pale tear stained face tears coming into his own eyes as he thought about how much of a mess his life was. “I am so sorry, Kazuko…”
He continued to sit beside his lover and sister until his eyes grew heavy with his own tiredness. He yawned loudly his jaw cracking a little as his ears popped wishing that he could curl up beside his Kazuko but something was something telling him that he should leave her alone for now. He got up from the bed and stretched out his back heading to the door. He was just walking down the stairs when he saw his mother walking up the stairs.
“Mo-Mother? What…Are you doing here?” He spluttered in shock his eyes bulging out of his face. He hadn’t been expecting her back this early and now he was very glad that he hadn’t given in to temptation and either slept with his sister or with actually slept with her. “Mother what are you doing here…?”
“You have asked that question twice…But it only requires one answer I am here because my teen age daughter has gotten herself pregnant…” The woman said slowly her lips twisted into a smile that told him that she was almost amused though the glint in her eyes told her that she was a little frustrated by all of this. “Ohno-kun and Masuyo-chan told me that Kazuko wanted to speak to you…I am glad that you and she are on speaking terms again…You have always been close…”
“Yeah…I suppose that it was time that we sorted ourselves out...She’s asleep now…” He murmured looking back up the stairs to the bedroom and Gina gave a nod as she side stepped around him and carried on up the stairs leaving Sho to stare after her knowing that this was probably the first time his mother had ever truly acted like a mother. Stirring himself into action he headed down the rest of the stairs smiling at Ohno and Masuyo who were sitting on opposite ends of the room. The air around them was tense and Sho wondered if something had been happening between them before his mother had come back.
“Sorry Sho-chan…I was going to call you and warn you but I realised that your phone was down here…” Masuyo told him in a theatrical whisper and Sho smiled slightly “Um…Is Kazuko okay?”
“Yeah…Fatigued I think…She’s asleep now…” Sho answered with a tired nod dropping himself down into a chair and rubbing his eyes. His eyes were itching with the tears that he had cried earlier and he hoped that his mother hadn’t noticed the red eyes of the marks that were more than likely on his cheeks. It was so happy a few hours ago looking at the baby on the scan but that was just a temporary respite. The seriousness of the situation kept overriding any or all happiness.
“I’ll make you a drink!” The girl announced jumping up and hurrying out of the room into the kitchen. Sho smiled at her thankfully and then sank even deeper into the chair until he became aware that he was being watched he turned to find Ohno staring at him with a smile on his face. It was the kind of smile that a cat might have when he had got the cream and Sho was even more positive that his friends had found their way to each other already.

Kazuko opened her eyes slowly and let out a long and steady groan. Her throat felt sore and her eyes ached. Things were slowly slipping into place for her…She was had two incredible friends that were helping her and her brother when in reality they should have ran away screaming at the very sight of her and Sho and her parents had even forgiven her for getting pregnant but nothing felt like it would be right again. She gave another sob and placed her hand over her stomach. There still wasn’t any signs of even a bump yet and she was almost thankful as that would make everything all too
“Crying won’t make things better, girl…” Gina told her stiffly looking away from the window to fix her with a stare and Kazuko found a sob dying in her throat. She chewed on her bottom lip her eyes fixed on the bottom of her bed her cheeks burning. “…You made your bed you have to lie in it now…”
“I know mother…” Kazuko said with just the trace of hurt in her voice. She was actually glad that her mother was acting this why. It added a sense normalcy to the whole situation. “I’m sorry that I have disappointed you and dad…”
“…We’re not disappointed Kazu…Or at least not really…” Gina told her coming over to the bed and sitting down beside her and taking her hand that was still resting over her stomach “It might not have been what we wanted for you…I suppose that we always imagined that Sho would be the first…He did become a little wild when he started college…Refusing to visit unless he absolutely had to…” Gina sighed and Kazu swallowed nodding numbly knowing that the only reason that Sho had stayed away was because of her and he growing attachment to her. She was tempted to both laugh and cry at her mother’s unfair but accurate view on her son, Sho had gotten somebody pregnant like they had feared but it was even worse than they could ever had thought. “But I suppose that that is normal for a young man…You…We thought that we were safe with you…You barely seemed to leave the house…There didn’t seem to be any threat or even a hint of a boyfriend…”
“…Oh-…” Kazu stopped biting harshly on her bottom lip knowing that it would be weird for her to call the man that she had been supposedly intimate with by his last name. It was still weird for her to use his first though so she was very glad that she was already well known for giving nicknames as she corrected herself a little after swallowing down a thick and painful lump from her throat “Oh-chan is a nice guy…”
“He appears to be…But if he was a respectable one he would have waited until you had both had the opportunity to live your lives…” Gina scowled with a little irritation and Kazuko could easily understand her frustration with that. Her mother had worked hard to break away from the stereotypes that often followed women. She had fought and beaten more than a dozen men to earn her place as the top of her class in college and had still lost out when it came to a graduate programme but even that hadn’t stopped her from being the best that she could be and now she was deeply troubled that Kazuko was going to be stuck at home like a traditional housewife. Again Kazuko wanted to snort with painful laughter when she thought about how untraditional she was. She did manage to smile though and squeeze at her mother’s hand whispering;
“It takes two to tango…I am just as responsible…”
“Then…That is why I refuse to allow you to sit here and wallow…It’s not good for you and it’s not good for the baby…” Gina smiled back weakly squeezing at her fingers “You have to get up and face the world…”
“Yes mum…”

A/N: I’m sorry for how long it has been since I last posted this story >.< I understand if you have forgotten all about it and that this chapter is different >.< I have to admit that it has been so long that I have lost all of my original notes for it and the characterisation might be different…At some point I will go back over the last fourteen chapters to clean them up and make them fit better with this one. ^_^
