Nino looked out over the wedding feast from his position at the top table. His husband was sat beside him eating very little and speaking even less. In fact there hadn’t been more than a word shared between them since the wedding and the silence was driving him crazy but he didn’t think that it was his place to start talking first. He let out a sigh his eyes going to the food on the table in front of him. No expense had been spared on any of it, imported wines and fruits, and Nino was almost sure that even his brother’s wedding feast hadn’t been this lavish but he couldn’t enjoy any of it. After placed a candid fruit in his mouth he glanced at his husband again a jolt running through him as he wondered yet again why this beautiful man hadn’t had a horde of suitors falling at his feet. It was impossible that he had had to rely on an arranged marriage even with a sour personality he was beautiful and a prince.
“Is there something on my face, husband?” Jun asked turning to look at him from the corner of his eye a smirk twisting on his lips.
“No! I am sorry…” Nino gasped his cheeks burning as he let his eyes fall away again uncomfortable all over again. On the table beside him he could feel his father glaring at him as if waiting for him to make a mistake. "Your highness...would you care for more wine?" Nino asked nervously holding up the flagon of wine the servant had brought noting that his husband's glass was empty. The prince pulled a face like he had been personally offended and waved his hand in a brisk manner his head shaking as he snapped;
"I would not..."
"Sorry, sire" Nino fell into a tense silence feeling as though he had been physically slapped by the harsh words. For a pretty guy he had a rotten personality, Nino decided mournfully chewing on the corner of his mouth as he watched his friend darting around the dance floor without a care in the world. He smiled a little as he watched the pair gadding around the dance floor ungracefully and out of step with everybody else. They were really a match made in the heavens he thought envying his friend's happiness just a little. He let out a sigh pulling his gaze from the to look at his husband a jolt running down his spine when he realised that the prince was looking at him with an amused expression in his eyes. "Your highness is there something that I can do for you?"
"Water I would have...if you would be so kind..."
"Ah yes of course..." Nino scrambled to his feet reaching over the table for the water and somehow managing to knock the wine over sending it rushing over the table and his new husband. “I…Please forgive me!” The lord cried horrified as the prince jumped to his feet looking almost murderous his purple tunic soaked with ruby red wine.
“…A clumsy husband I have found myself…” Jun ground out slowly letting out a deep breath from his nose and Nino blushed an even darker shade of red aware that the music in the hall had stopped and everybody was watching them. “Will you show me where I may wash myself, husband?”
“…Yes…” Nino nodded biting the corner of his mouth and leading his husband through the hall and out into the hallway.

Masaki watched his friend leave with sympathy, he had been watching the pair since the feast had started and it appeared that Nino was going to have a difficult time of it. His friend was normally so bratty and playful that people forgot that he was actually a shy person that found it difficult to make friends or even talk to people. The prince wasn’t helping matters by being to stoic and distant.
“Husband…” Sakurai called to him softly his voice sounding as if it was coming from far away but it was enough to pull Masaki away from his thoughts.
“Un?” He mumbled blinking when he realised that he was staring at a closed door and not at Sakurai who still had his arms around him. The music had started up again but it was barely audible over the sound of laughter and whispers that had broken out after the departure of Nino and Jun. He looked at his husband…His husband…Sakurai was finally his husband, he thought grinning again while his heart skipped a few beats. He felt a touch of guilt that he wasn’t more worried about his friend but he had been dreaming of this day for so long now that he couldn’t believe that it was finally here as of today he was no longer Aiba Masaki but Sakurai Masaki. His husband reached out and cupped his cheek lightly his fingertips warm against his face and Masaki couldn’t help but smile as Sakurai asked;
“Have you had enough dancing? I think that some food will do us good…”
“Yes…” Masaki agreed allowing himself to be led to the top table his stomach rumbling just a little as his eyes swept over the food, some of it things that he had never even heard of before, the Ninomiya’s had certainly been out to impress with this wedding he thought carefully taking a few slices of beef and some potatoes.
“Masaki, will you miss this when we leave tomorrow?” Sakurai asked softly surprising and confusing him as he looked up into his face his eyebrow raised. “My house is not as lavish…I do keep servants but not many…Nor is my house as grand…”
“But it is your house, my husband…We could live in a barn and I would be happy!” Masaki replied honestly delighted when Sakurai smiled and reached out to take his hand playing with the ring that was now of his finger. It still felt foreign against his skin and heavy but it was a good kind of heavy, a constant reminder of the promises that they had made today.
“…You are incredible…My Masaki…My husband…” The solider purred bringing the hand to his lips and kissing the palm. “You deserve much more than I can give you…I promise though that I will spend my life dedicated to making you happy…”
“...Mine too…I promise, my husband!” Masaki replied quickly giggling when his palm was kissed again before his hand was let go. They ate in a happy silence watching the dancers on the floor until Nino and Jun returned.
