“Dadda!”
“Ouch” Matsumoto-Ninomiya Kazunari grunted loudly as his four year old son ran into him, his little head hitting him square in the groin as his hands came up and clutched at his t-shirt “Kohaku…What…”
“I missed you…You is gone away forever!” Kohaku slurred his face tilting up revealing a snotty nose and a drool running down his chin where it mingled with the chocolate goatee that he was sporting. Nino groaned realising that his son’s hands were also coated in the brown sticky stuff or they hand been until he had wiped them on the very light blue jeans that he was wearing. In another life that would have bothered him but at that moment the sticky prints were symbols of love and he dipped down sitting in front of his son and looking into his beautiful little face and smiling at him.
“I didn’t go away forever…” He said taking a handkerchief out of his pocket and wiping his face taking away the drool and the chocolate while his son stomped his feet and whined;
“You did I counted!”
“Really? You counted?” Nino chuckled stroking away the loose bit of hair “…So…Count for me…”
“Ah?! I canna do it! It’s me! I canna do it!” Kohaku said proudly pulling out of his grip and holding up his hands “Una…ana..Hoo…ana…our…Lots…Ana then a…Many…And then forever!”
“Oh…Well when you put it like that I was gone away forever…I’m sorry, sweetheart” Nino grabbed his son crushing him towards his chest burying his mouth against the top of his head. He had never realised that his son was so clingy but then again he had never been away from him for so long. He had always been a stay at home dad but today he’d started a new part time job and his husband had stayed home.
“Where’s papa?”
“In the sleepy room…” Kohaku answered jumping onto him his little arms wrapping around his waist and his little nose pressing to his neck.
“Oh and what is he doing there while you’re out here?” Nino asked with a slight frown his eyebrows knitting together doubting that his husband would just leave their child to run around as he pleased.
“I was getting little man’s clothes…” Jun answered coming out of the bedroom carrying a pair of Kamen rider pyjamas “He’s going to be having a bath and then bed…Hey…How did it go?”
“Hmm…Okay…I missed Mister Man here…” Nino answered tickling his son’s sides until he started giggling and wriggling around. “But…It was nice…I got hit on twice…”
“Really?” Jun asked trying to look like he wasn’t bothered but Nino could see that his jaw had clenched tightly and there was a muscle twitching above his right eye. Kohaku frowned pulling on his and drawing his attention back onto him so that he could ask;
“Whatasa hit on, Dadda..?”
“It’s something that people who like you do…They tell you you’re cute and that then they sometimes ask you to go for a drink with them…” Nino shrugged finding it hard to explain to a four year old. Kohaku pulled another face that reminded Nino so completely of a jealous Jun that he couldn’t help but laugh pinching his nose very lightly. It wasn’t surprising that he looked like Jun he was after all his blood father conceived with the help of their lesbian friend Aiba Masako. Jun had wanted it to be his sperm that created their child but after a test told them that his ‘little swimmers’ weren’t up to the task they had gone with Jun’s and Kohaku had been born and Nino couldn’t be any prouder of him.
“But you have papa to take you for a drink!” His boy said and Nino stroked his chubby face and nodded glancing at the still jealous looking Jun.
“Yup that’s what I told them…I told them that I have a wonderful, loving husband and a beautiful son that will take me for a drink I don’t need anyone else…” Nino chuckled tapping his son on the nose “Come on Mister Man…Bath time…”
“I’ve got it…You must be tired…” Jun said but Nino shook his head hugging the boy as he stood up and walked towards the bedroom listening to Kohaku chattering on about what he and Jun had been doing all day.
“Ana…Then we went to the park ana papa pushed me on the swing…!”
“He did?! Wow…I bet you enjoyed that!” Nino chuckled as they entered the bathroom and he saw the bright purple bubbles that were made with the special lavender scented bubble bath. Kohaku clapped his hands frantically wriggling around so much that it was difficult to strip him of his clothes. “Stay still, wiggle bottom or you’ll fall into the bath…”
“Sorry Dadda!” Kohaku said staying completely still as Nino stripped his clothes away and dumped him into the bath. He allowed his son to splash around for a while before holding him still and washing his hair.
“Happy?” Jun asked coming up behind him his hands dipping into the water and splashing it over his son who giggled loudly and splashed the water back at him. Nino nodded sighing as he leaned back against his husband. Jun gave a laugh kissing his head while their son played with a rubber duck. He had enjoyed going back to work but he knew that this was what made him happy.
