krystalkatzficzJun walked into his parent’s house with a tight knot of nerves in the centre of his chest. In his arms was a large bunch of flowers for his mum and a bottle of fine sake for his father. He guessed that it looked like he was trying to butter them up and in a way he was. He was going to tell them about him and Nino and he could only hope that they would accept it and him. This last month had been incredible and he knew for certain that he didn’t want it to end. He had a close relationship with his parents though and it would hurt him if they disapproved.
“Jun! I’m happy you could make it!” His mum said smiling as her eyes glittered taking in the bunch of flowers. “Wow that’s a lot of flowers…Are they for me?”
“Um…” Jun nodded numbly pushing the bouquet out at her his mum was startled to find her nose buried in the blooms of thorn less roses, chrysanthemums and carnations but she gave a loud sniff humming happily and gasping;
“They’re beautiful! Thank-you…I’ll just go and pop these in some water…Your dad’s in the living room watching the game…You should go through…Your sister is already here…”
“Okay…” He managed to say as she darted off down the hall. He took a calming breath berating himself for acting so strangely before kicking off his shoes quickly stepping into his old pair of slippers that had been left out for him. He had to take another calming breath before waking into the living room but somehow he managed to smile as he saw his dad and sister sitting on the two seat sofa both arguing loudly over the game that was playing. Both were wearing the opposing team’s colours and Jun rolled his eyes a little sinking down into the chair knowing that it would be over soon.
“Ah take that!” His sister whooped punching his dad lightly on the arm before jumping up and doing a strange little victory dance before flushing brightly when she saw him looking at her with a raised eyebrow. “Ah…Jun!”
“Hey, nee-chan…Congratulations…” He said with a smile looking at his father who was grumbling to himself and clicking the off button. “Dad…This is for you…” He said quickly jumping to his feet and almost falling over himself to present him with the drink. The older man raised an eyebrow at the bottle before humming appreciatively.
“Now this will make the loss bearable…Thanks…” He said and Jun nodded scrapping his tongue over his lips as his mum came in with the vase of flowers causing his sister to whistle loudly and say;
“Wow, little brother…You knocked up a girl? You’re really out to impress…”
“No…It’s not that…” Jun started as both his mum and dad turned to stare at him, both almost dropping their gifts, “It’s not I swear…I haven’t gotten anyone pregnant…”
“So…You’re engaged! Those rumours about you and Inoue-chan are true?” His sister asked with excitement rocking backwards and forwards on her feet.
“No! I’m bisexual…And I’m dating Nino…” Jun snapped before realising what he’d said his blood running cold through his veins as his cheeks went a deep sun kissed red his mouth opening and closing “I…Mean um…We…I um…”
There were two loud smashes but Jun barely felt it when his jeans were coated with water and sake he looked around at the three shocked faces and then ran before they had the chance to recover. He didn’t stop to change his shoes and ran down the garden path his arms scratched on the hedges that ran up the left hand side. He was barely aware of getting in his car and driving to Nino’s apartment but he was aware when he was standing in the doorway looking at the surprised and worried expression in his lover’s eyes.
