Ninomiya Kazunari clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth as he scrubbed the table so much that he could see his face in it. It wasn’t that he minded having to work on his birthday, in fact he liked it as most of the regulars all gave him extra tips when they found out that it was his birthday, but he wished that all of the arseholes didn’t come out. Seriously he had cleaned the tables sixty times today and that wasn’t an exaggeration. He sighed leaning back and resting his hands on his hips almost screaming when a hand ran down the centre of his back. He turned so quickly that he almost fainted his heart hammering against his chest when he was met by a huge bouquet of red and yellow roses.

“Kazu…Happy birthday…” A voice said from behind one of the flower heads and Nino grinned when he recognised it as belonging to his boyfriend Matsumoto Jun. Jun was meant to be out of town this weekend visiting his parents so to have him here in front of him felt something like a miracle and his heart pounded inside his chest.

“J, what are you doing here?” He asked as he pushed apart the flowers to reveal his lover in all his glory. Jun looked tired but happy his hair sticking to a sweaty face that also had a couple of rose petals attached to it. His smile was heartbreakingly beautiful as he looked him over.

“I told you that I’d be here for your birthday, didn’t I? I have no idea why you didn’t believe me…” Jun muttered looking completely offended that he wasn’t believed and Nino flushed a little remembering the subtle dig that he had made earlier that afternoon when he guessed that Jun would have already been on his way home to him.

“I’m sorry…” He muttered and Jun just rolled his eyes shaking his head a little as he pushed the bouquet to him.

“Shut up and take the flowers…” Jun growled and obediently Nino did as he was told having to use both hands to hold them and then was almost overwhelmed by the soft scent of the roses. Around him there were murmurs but Nino knew that they were favourable. He and Jun had met in this café two years ago and everybody knew them by now and accepted them, if anyone did have anything to say the Owners Sakurai Sho and Aiba Masaki would have thrown them out a long time ago “I have another present for you…”

“What?” Nino asked before his heart tapped danced across his ribs as Jun dipped down to one knee and pulled out a small velvet box. There was a hush in the café now every single person waiting with baited breath just as much as Nino was. Jun flipped the box open and inside lay a platinum ring. It was a simple design but one that would fit on even his short and stubby fingers and his mouth went dry while his eyes went a little wet. He refused to cry though, he might be gay but he wasn’t an emotional one.

“Baby…You and me…We’ve been through a lot and I know that we’re going to have more arguments and I for one can’t wait…” Jun said his voice almost completely calm but there was a tremor in his voice that told Nino just how serious he was “I know that you can’t stand wearing jewellery but I’m hoping that you’ll consent to wear my ring…”

“Um…You really had to do this here?” Nino asked his cheeks going a bright red as a chorus of ‘say yes, idiots’ rang around the room. Jun just grinned holding up the ring a little more until Nino clicked his tongue and threw the flowers down before joining him his arms wrapped around his neck his mouth pressed to his in a long and sweet kiss “Yes…” He whispered when he came up for air “Of course I will…” Jun laughed as the watching crowd cheered as he took the ring from the box and slipped it onto his finger.

“Happy birthday Brat...”
