krystalkatzficzSakurai Sho walked purposely towards the library trying to ignore the feeling that he was being followed though he knew that if he turned around he was sure to see Nino stalking him through the corridors. Nino had been hunting him down since Ohno’s little break down earlier and he knew why but he wasn’t going to have a conversation like that where everybody could hear them. He and Kudo had been careful throughout every step of their relationship, he never stayed behind in her class or served detention hell he barely looked at his girlfriend for more than a minute if he could help it. When they had gotten together they had worked out the ground rules like that. It wasn’t as if anyone was paying him any great deal of attention, not like they did Nino but everyone…Most of the guys at least fancied his girlfriend so they had to be very careful.
He had been worried when she had told him that she was going to help Ohno out. Nobody knew that she wasn’t as confident as she would let people believe. She had had to work her way through both school and college and yes that had meant working as a hostess for a few years but that was behind her now. She was a good teacher and had the personality and humour of a firecracker. Sho hadn’t actually been interested in her when he had seen her teaching, not like the other guys had. He’d though she was attractive but he had never found people that showed too much flesh to be appealing. Then one day he had seen her alone in the city library and she had been completely different. Trousers instead of short skirts, her hair pulled back into a simple ponytail and a baggy t-shirt that had covered everything.
He couldn’t believe the difference and he hadn’t been able to understand why she didn’t dress more like that when she was at work. Their relationship had been more like strange friends at first, they would meet up every Saturday and Sunday and read their ways through books upon book, after discovering that they both had the same dream of reading every single book no matter how mundane. It was strange to find out that the flirty beautiful teacher that everyone fancied was just as nerdy as he was and it had been easy for him to open up about his love of Hip-hop though it had still taken him a few months for him to ask her to come to a club where he sometimes performed. It was shocking when she had actually turned up but not as shocking as what happened after when she had kissed him.
Their relationship still hadn’t changed much after that, their dates were still in the library but only now they would kiss while hidden in the aisles or find a place away from everyone else and snuggle while reading to each other. He admired her for wanting to help out Ohno and Nino and he thought that the person that was leaving the notes deserved every bit of punishment that was coming their way but he was terrified that something was going to be said, one remark about her being a slut too many, that would really hurt his girlfriend. Today it had been close but Kudo had managed to laugh it off but Sho wasn’t sure how many times she would be able to do that. The best way for them to help now was for them to discover who the culprit was but his list of suspects was long with very few ways of getting it down without help.
“Why are you following me?” He asked softly stopping in the middle of the aisle of text books that were geared towards Todai University, it was his dream school and he was confident of acceptance but he still made sure to reread the books every night just to make sure. He turned slowly looking at the boy in front of him. He had no feelings whatsoever towards the baseball ace, he had always seemed a bit bratty to him but people seemed to like him and the girls thought he was cute. He was surprised to find out that he was gay and dating the sleepy art teacher, the two seemed to be so opposite that they couldn’t work, but he guessed that like Kudo there could be hidden depths to both of them. Even though he didn’t hate the other teenager he was still angry that Kudo had gotten herself mixed up in it all and he knew that he was glaring at him a little.
“I wanted to say that I’m sorry…” Nino whispered hanging his head and looking so pathetically lost and apologetic that Sho couldn’t keep holding onto his anger, though he tried managing to growl out;
“For what?”
“For the stuff that has been said about Kudo-sensei…” The baseball captain said almost softly his eyes darting around to make sure that they were indeed alone. Sho did the same knowing that if there was somebody there with them it was would be most likely the culprit as nobody except him and a few other nerds would be in here during lunch not even during examination period. “She shouldn’t have been brought into this…”
“She wasn’t dragged in she chose to get involved…And it’s not like people don’t say that about her anyway…” Sho growled his hands clenching around the thick reference book that he had just pulled down from the shelf watching as Nino bit on his bottom lip, looking so unlike his cocksure bratty self that Sho felt the last trace of anger towards him vanish in a puff of smoke.
“Yeah but this is my fault…” Nino mumbled turning to the shelf himself and poking at some of the books as the librarian walked passed them stopping every now and then to push a book into place. Sho waited until she was gone before he shrugged and muttered;
“Unless you’re leaving those flyers yourself don’t try and take the credit or the blame…Though do you have any idea why somebody would hate you this much?”
“No…I thought that it was because of the scholarship but it turns out that it’s a girl…” Nino sighed and Sho hummed shaking his head as he rubbed his chin against the book in his hands.
“That doesn’t rule out somebody jealous of the scholarship…They could have a sister or a girlfriend that is helping him…” He murmured and Nino’s whole face collapsed in on itself and Sho was convinced that he was about to cry before he managed to pull himself together and swear under his breath kicking at the shelving units.
“What the hell have I done to deserve this…?” He growled and Sho’s head snapped around as he heard a startled cry from a first year in the next aisle over. The girl looked too terrified to be any trouble and she was quickly running for the desk area and the safety of her friends.
“No idea...” Sho mumbled turning back to the ace when he was positive that she had completely gone “Look whatever happens you can’t just sit about and take it…”
“I’m not…There’s a chance that one of the culprits has been caught on camera and Masako’s friends have seen a girl so they’re doing a sketch of her so hopefully we’ll have an idea who it is…” Nino murmured and Sho had to admit that he was surprised at how many people were helping out the baseball player and he guessed that he was even more popular than he thought.
“See you already have a lot of help and I have a few suggestions that you might want to take into consideration…” He said dropping the book down by his seat and pulling out the list that he had made up. There were at least 20 names on his list but he was sure that Nino would manage to get a few more knocked off once he looked at it.
“You did this?” Nino asked in surprise taking the list of names and looking it over carefully humming a little and Sho fought the urge to blush and cleared his throat nodding as he said;
“I thought that it could help…These are the ones that I think would be most likely to do something like this…I thought that you could take a look and then take some names off…”
“Thanks…It’s a little daunting that this many people might hate me…But this helps a lot…Thanks…”
