The War chapter six

krystalkatzficzOhno opened his eyes and immediately regretted it as he was presented with the small cute face of his daughter and not the small cute face of his little puppy…No not his puppy…He told himself squeezing his eyes closed again trying to push away the fever that was still tearing him up inside. It had been three days since he had seen the puppy and fucked him. The fever should have broken by now, even if he wouldn’t have been completely over it the fire should be leaving him but he was still gripped within its flames and the pain of separation was only getting worse instead of getting better.
“Papa…Are you okay?” The girl lisped and Ohno opened his eyes forcing a smile as he reached out and ruffled her hair lightly with his fingers desperately trying to ignore the urge to hiss at her and chase her away only wanting to feel the touch of his puppy. The urge had almost led to him clawing at Tahiya’s face when she had gotten too close but it seemed that his paternal instinct was still there as he calmed down almost immediately when he realised who it was that was there with him. She really was a pretty little thing with his round face and darker skin tone but with her mother’s almost blue black hair and curls that caused her hair to flow around hair face like a black waterfall. Her lips were naturally ruby red and her eyes were normally a dark blue but they would flash a lighter colour if she was upset or excited. At the moment they were the colour of Tropical Ocean and Ohno grinned sliding his finger down the ridge of her nose and then bobbing the ball gently.
“I’m fine, my sweet…Where is your mama?” He asked struggling into a seated position and stretching out his body as he looked around for any sign of his wife who had been growing more and more convinced that there was something wrong with him, that the puppy had infected him when he had bit him but Ohno refused to believe that and he knew that the young werewolf was in just as much, if not more, pain as he was feeling. He couldn’t explain why he knew that but he could feel him and his dreams were haunted by the young slim body twisted in pain and sweating profusely while crying out for him. Every instinct was telling him to go and bring him to him so he could sooth away his tears but he couldn’t.
“She’s gone to fetch Uncle Sho…” The little girl answered lisping over the ‘S’s’ in the sentence her tongue sticking through the gaps in her teeth, only her elongated canines safe from the almost human trait of losing baby teeth. His daughter was 10 years already but it would take a long time for her to come out of the baby stage. He blinked with surprise at the mention of his wife’s older brother and the clan’s historian. She had been threatening to fetch a doctor since he had returned but he had refused to allow it he couldn’t imagine how a historian would be able to help.
“When did she leave?”
“A long time ago…” Rhian shrugged playing around with the bed sheets her head tilting to one side her eyes flashing a bright electric blue as she gave him a gapped toothed smile asked “Who is puppy? Are we getting a puppy?”
“What are you talking about?” Ohno asked a cold shiver of dread running up and down his spine as he suspected that he had allowed his daughter to hear something that she wasn’t meant to hear. Rhian frowned a little her bottom lip sticking out in a way that suggested that she was about to start having a tantrum if she didn’t get what she wanted after this conversation.
“When you was asleep you kept saying ‘I’m coming puppy…Hold on…I’m coming’ so are we getting a puppy?”
“No, my fairy princess…” He said carefully and sure enough the bottom lip trembled and her eyes became glassy with a coating of tears as she all but screamed;
“But the puppy! You said! You said!”
“I said it my dream…You have no idea what I was saying, sweetheart” Ohno whispered grabbing her and pulling her into a hug another dull wave of pain flaring through his veins as “…Puppy…Is the nickname of a friend of mine…”
“You call your friend puppy?” Rhian asked hiccupping as she wiped her face onto his chest and Ohno nodded stroking her small back gently as he kissed the top of her head.
“Yes…” Ohno answered hoping that she would accept that without asking too many more awkward questions but he knew his daughter better than that and there was only a few moments of silence as she processed that before she was bouncing up and down asking;
“So is puppy coming to stay? Are you going to fetch him? Is that what you were saying? Are we going to fetch him now?”
“…No…That isn’t possible…” Ohno managed though his heart and blood were screaming ‘Yes, yes, let’s go now!’ Rhian looking up at him her face blotchy from tears and tantrum and he was horrified to see that her lip was once again trembling working herself up for a bigger tantrum.
“Rhian, come with me now” Tahiya said from the doorway her calm voice cutting through the tears that were starting again and Ohno looked up gratefully at his wife though the burn inside of him returned when he saw that she and her brother were in the room with them. Rhian looked at him and then at her mother before nodding slowly and reluctantly scrambling down off of the bed and going over to them. “Husband I suggest that you told with my brother…”
“Yes, wife…” Ohno replied looking over at the man that wasn’t actually related to his wife in anything but in her former name. Tahiya had been adopted into the noble Sakurai family when she had been about the same age as Rhian was now but it was so long ago now that nobody really remembered that or that his wife was once a human. Sho eyed him with a raised eyebrow staying as far to the door as possible as his sister and niece left, their footsteps light on the stairs.
“What have you gotten yourself into now, brother?” Sho asked lifting his foot and pressing it into the room and, although he was trying to stay calm, Ohno growled and then hissed dropping into an almost ferial stance in the middle of the bed every muscle in his body tensing as his eyes narrowed glaring at the foot. The reaction was the most powerful that he had experienced and he felt sure that is the other vampire came further into the room he would be tempted to remove his face from his skull. “So Tahiya wasn’t lying…You are an idiot, brother…”
“What?” Ohno growled dipping down again and rocking backwards and forwards tempted to just lunge at the other man and be down with it.
“An unsealed bond with a werewolf…” Sho hummed stepping even further out of the room and Ohno found himself relaxing just a little but his eyes were still narrowed and a very low growl that he barely registered as coming from him was sounding out around the room. “You are lucky though, judging from the state of you it should pass in another day or two…”
“What? Why?” Ohno asked knowing that he should have been relieved by that statement but he wasn’t knowing that there was something that he wasn’t being told.
“If you’re already in this state as the dominant I can only imagine that the submissive of this unsealed bond will be dead soon…” Sho told him without feeling causing Ohno to growl and tense up again and Sho held up his hands speaking quickly “If you recall our history brother, Werewolves were created as our servants meant to protect us during the daylight hours when we were at our most venerable but over time they developed and changed becoming powerful enough to break away from us…But at their very core...they are built to serve and you have taken him back to that state…if he cannot be with you to serve…Then he will choose death it will be less painful for him...”
“No…I won’t allow it…” Ohno snapped and then jumped out of the bed pushing passed his brother and down the stairs. Tahiya and Rhian where in the hallway but he pushed passed them too pulling open the door and running out of the flat ignoring everyone that called out to him determined to find his puppy before it was too late.
