krystalkatzficz"So soon my lord?" Nino gasped even though he was trying to keep his emotions in check. He had expected a few more days, some time to properly explain to his boy and reassure him that he didn't want to leave him and that they would see each other again. He could say that in the time that he had but it took Takayuki a long time to be aware of things and he would not have that. "But…"
"I apologise little tiger the fault is mine...if I could allow you the time you need I would of course give it to you..." Ohno said softly his hands moving on his hair as he once again tied it up into a tight bun on the top of his head.
"No, you are right your mission comes first my lord, I was just shocked..." Nino swallowed deeply the lump in his throat almost painful his eyes so dry that they were itching painfully behind the lids "...I promise that I will do my best to serve you...I will not bring dishonour on to that on my lord..."
"Go my spider...you may stay with your boy until midnight tonight...then I wish to see you in our room..." Sakurai said with more softness than Nino had been expecting and he guessed that the lord was happy with him. He bowed his head a little and smiled saying huskily;
"Thank-you my lord, you are just as always..."
"Sho, I promised that I would tell the boy Takayuki of the golden fish...” Ohno murmured suddenly as if he had just remembered “May I ask permission to be with your spider and his boy in the garden...I think my tale might comfort the boy..."
"You too are blinded by the simplistic nature of the boy, he is a man, he should be aware of the world..." Sakurai spat his eyes narrowing as they turned to Nino "you have shielded him too much from the facts of life, spider...he should learn that the world is not the place of dreams and stories that you have built for him..."
"My lord Sho, some people in this world are born to see the joy in life, they are the reason that we, who cannot see it as freely as they, can continue to live..." Ohno murmured lightly but Nino could tell from the tone he was using that he was giving his lord a quiet warning. "If it not for them showing us that there is beauty and joy...what would be the point of living? You should not be so quick to wish the dark onto one who only sees the light...or some might be tempted to do the same to Masaki..."
"If you did that I would never forgive you..." Nino barked out before he could hold his tongue. He was honestly surprised at how cold the prince sounded he had thought after how good he was with Takayuki and the stories of his sister he would show the same kindness to Masaki but that did not seem to be the case. "I appreciate your support of my boy, but I ask that you leave Masaki out of it..."
"I apologise, little tiger” Ohno smiled, nodding his head in a strange jerking bow, an amused and pleased glint in his eyes “I see that yet another cub has found its way under your protection..."
"He is my lord’s boy and lover, of course he has my protection..." Nino answered shortly refusing to allow Masayuki’s face to appear in his mind though he acknowledged in his heart that the older man had some sway over his feelings to towards his son. “If I may be excused…”
“Yes, of course spider…I also wish to speak Masaki so I will join you..." Sakurai said and together they rose to their feet and made their way out of the house. The sun had vanished behind a thick layer of clouds when they went out but the air was still warm and out habit Nino insured that the parasol was close at hand.
“I wondered how it was you kept your skin so pale, tiger, now I know…” Ohno smiled as he settled in beside him and Nino side stepped away, his arm linking through his lord’s, keeping some distance between him and the prince. The prince’s smile grew a little but he didn’t mention the act but just continued in a lazy kind of voice “I think that some colour in your face would suit you more…”
“Then you would be the first man to think so…” Nino mused a little, there were days when he wished that he didn’t have to be so careful with his skin. Takayuki often tried to get him to play in the gardens or in their spot by the river and it was only in cooler days when he would agree. He had to keep his appearance flawless for his job but it would be nice to just let it go.
They heard the loud, laughing voice of Masaki before they saw him and when they did see him he was sat half way up a tree in a state of near undress with Takayuki trying to jump up at him in a similar state. Nino’s heart plummeted before thumping wildly against his ribs as he felt his lord tense up against him a low growl escaping his throat.
“A child is he?” The lord snapped pushing Nino away so hard that he fell against the prince who held him up gently with his hands around his arm.
“My lord, I cannot…I do not…” Nino stammered struggling out of Ohno’s arms, wishing that he could give an explanation but nothing could come out of his mouth. He couldn’t explain the sight that was before them nor could he explain the fact that Masaki didn’t look concerned as Sakurai stalked over to him. In fact Masaki looked radiant as he dropped easily out of the tree like a cat and hurried over to him saying in a ridiculously happy voice;
“Sho! I am sorry! I fell into the pond! I was trying to touch one of the fish, Taka tried to help and he fell in too! We took our clothes off to dry them in the sun, I am sorry…”
“…You fell into the pond?” Sakurai snapped gripping his boy tightly on the shoulders and almost shaking him bodily.
“Yes! He made a loud splash!” Takayuki agreed his head nodding frantically as he giggled happily looking just as unconcerned as Masaki did by the look their lord was giving them. Nino moved forward wanting to find a way of protecting him from what was about to happen but he froze when Sakurai let out a snort that slowly became a chuckle and then a full laugh which was so deep and unexpected that Nino was just a startled at the birds that flew out of the trees.
“I am sorry that I missed that…” Sakurai said pulling Masaki into his body and wrapping his arms around him his hands moving up and down stroking him gently “Thank you Takayuki for trying to save my boy…”
“You’re welcome, lord” Takayuki said and Nino sighed his body relaxing as he silently sent a thank-you to which ever deity was watching over his boy at that moment. Sakurai nodded again smiling a little as he led Masaki over to where his clothes were drying out.
“Come on Masaki, you should have a hot bath…” The lord told him in a voice that suggested more than that and, from the way his cheeks coloured, it was obvious that Masaki picked up on that. The boy gave a nod and his smile became sweeter as he whispered;
“Yes, my lord”
“Spider…Enjoy your afternoon” Sakurai said turning back to them and adding in a low warning voice “In the garden where you can be seen…”
“Yes my lord” Nino replied slowly hanging his head his arm slipping around Takayuki’s shoulders as he felt him shiver a little at the little gush of wind that was around them. Sakurai nodded and then left leading Masaki to the house “Takayuki…Why must you make me worry so much?” The assassin sighed squeezing his eyes closed and breathing out a long breath glad and surprised that they had gotten out of that as smoothly as possible.
“I’m sorry, Father…” Takayuki said looking like he didn’t understand why Nino would be so worried “Are you okay father? You look sad…”
“I…” Nino started his heart sinking a little as he remembered that he had to tell Takayuki that was leaving “Come this way, we have to talk…”
