"I want to marry you..." Sakurai Sho whispered half against the lips of his boyfriend Aiba Masaki. He knew that it was an impossible dream at the moment but one day he would make it a reality. Aiba gave a giggle that caused the air to rush out against his nose. It smelt sweet and minty just like the chocolate drink he'd been drinking a few moments earlier.

"I want to marry, Sho-chan too..." He agreed and Sakurai gave a moan crushing their lips together his hands wrapping around his body. Sakurai closed his eyes and smiled against the lips of his lover as he saw the warm beautiful colours wrapping around him. Before he had met the boy in his arms life had been in monotone, with dull uninteresting shades of grey but Aiba, Aiba had brought colour and warmth to his life like nobody before.

The main colour he would think of with Aiba was green, dark green like the blazer of their school uniform, bright green like the metallic lunch box he always brought their shared pack lunches in, green like the leaves on the tree that they always met under and the soft blue-y green of the sheet they had made love in for the first time.

Aiba was his colour and he knew that he couldn't live without that colour just as much as he couldn't live without breathing.

*^*_*^*_*^*

Sho groaned pulling his eyes open as the alarm rang shrilly cutting through the dream. The thick crust of sleep and, he was ashamed to admit, tears seemingly gluing the lids together. He sat up in the bed and looked around at the room, it was still filled to the brim with packing boxes and paper from his move but already his furniture was set up. A grey bedstead with white cupboards and barely off white walls. It was clean, sterile and matched his life perfectly, the only splash of colour in the whole place was a mixed green glass frame that held the picture of a teenager pulling a peace pose while grinning and flashing straight white teeth and bright playful eyes.

It had been ten years since he had looked at that face in the flesh, tiny years since he had heard the breathy voice calling his name or felt his warm breath on his skin but it still haunted him. He could still remember the heat of his skin and how many moles ran down one cheek. He could also remember the exact pattern of the red wine birth mark that had stained his shoulder. He didn’t understand why Masaki had left him things had been perfect, or at least he had thought so, and he definitely didn’t know where he’d gone. He’d tried to find him at the time and every year since but it was like he had completely vanished off of the face of the earth or he had never existed at all.
After Masaki had disappeared from his life he’d moved around, going first to America and then England, he enrolled in all of the best schools becoming the doctor and man that his family wanted him to be. His parents had never liked Masaki and Sho had always suspected that they knew more about his disappearing act than they had ever let on but as he couldn’t prove it he thought that there was very little reason for rocking the boat. He had been distant towards them though and slowly over the years most of his interactions with them had been through family events that he couldn’t avoid. Trying to push away his mood Sho climbed out of the bed and did a few squats before heading into the shower and washing away the sweat that had collected over the night.

It had been a long time since he’d had a dream that vivid and he knew it was because he had come back to the town where it all began. He really hadn’t wanted to come back but he’d received a call that his father was sick. He had just gotten dry and dressed when he heard somebody running through his apartment, his body tensed just slightly and his hand hovered over to a baseball bat that was against the wall. His fears were put to rest quickly though when he heard an girlish voice shout

“Uncle Sho!”

“Kitty-Kat? What are you doing here?” He asked as his nine and a half year old niece, Katrina, came running in and threw herself at his chest. Sho wrapped his arms around the slightly chunky girl bending down to kiss the top of her head.

“Uncle Sho! Are you sure you’re still coming to my sports day?” Katrina said flashing him a smile while pushing her long plait over her shoulder. Sho smiled reaching down and picking her up, she was the only reason that he had bothered to stay in this small, almost insignificant, town in the first place. He’d only really gotten to know her a few months ago but he had quickly discovered that his sisters only child was fun and bubbly in almost the same way Masaki had been and he refused to sit back and let all of her joy for life be crushed out of her. His sister was almost exactly the same as their parents and she still couldn’t accept that her daughter was a tomboy that was more likely going to be a future athlete over a beauty queen.

“I promised that I would, didn’t I?”

“Yeah, but you always get so busy with work that I thought you’d forget…You have to be there uncle Sho…Please, don’t forget…Please!”

“I won’t I promise kitty-Kat…” Sho said holding up his pinkie and linking it with hers before smirking as he spun her around and around until she was screaming with laughter her arms out and her head thrown back.

“Faster, Faster!” She shouted through her laughter tears of happiness rolling down her cheeks.

“Geez…You’re pretty tall for a nine year old and I’m getting older, my backs breaking in half!” Sho groaned but did as she said until he stumbled into a box and fell forward dropping her onto the bed before falling to the floor beside the chest of drawers. His elbow slammed against the white glossy wood with a painful crunch and it rocked the whole unit causing the picture to fall and shatter. Sho’s heart dropped into his stomach as he got to his feet scrambling around trying to save the picture before it was too covered with scratches. It was too late directly down the centre of the photo was a deep groove that cut through half of his eye and smile.

“Uncle Sho, I’m sorry…” Katrina whispered from the bed and Sho chewed the inside of his cheek his head shaking from side to side,

“It’s fine…” He lied folding the picture up and sticking it into the pocket of his shirt “I didn’t hurt you did I?”

“No…” Katrina smiled getting to her feet and shaking her head patting herself down to prove that there were no bruises. Her smile fell away quickly though and slowly she nodded her head at his pocket “Um…Who is he, uncle Sho?”

“Just an old friend…” He said with a smile “You should go and get ready for school, your mum will be wondering where you are…”

“Okay, uncle Sho, remember that you have to come to the sports day!” She said running over to him and kissing his cheek before running out of the room leaving him to deal with his whirlwind of emotions

“I won’t forget!” He called after her eventually but he wasn’t sure if she’d heard him. Once he was completely alone again he pulled out the ruined picture his finger moving over the slice in the face. Ten years really was a long time to hold on to somebody that obviously hadn’t cared about him as much as he had them. “Maybe this is a sign…”  He murmured softly before he took a shaky breath and then dropped the picture into the bin that was beside the chest of drawers. He turned sharply on his heel and marched out of the door. He managed to make it to the bathroom two doors down before he ran back to the bedroom and pulled the picture back out. Feeling like a sentimental idiot he ran his fingers over the face and then walked away again “Wish me luck today, Masa…”

Ooh another Sakuraiba fic! This looks so interesting!
I love how Sho says Aiba is his color. They were so sweet together.
10 years is really long. Poor Sho. I feel so heartbroken for him. Can't wait to find out what happened to Aiba n why he left.
N this story has mpreg?! Could Aiba have gotten pregnant n left, just like My Girl?
I bet Sho's family knows more than they let on.
Really loving this so far n waiting for more updates!
Thanks for sharing this! :)
