Sho wanted to curl into a tight ball as guilt filled his heart. He had meant to tell Nino about what had happened but with everything else that had been going on there never seemed to have been a good time and a small part of him was hoping that his dad would confess to it first. They had tidied it up a little and piled the broke ornaments onto the table but he knew that they should have mentioned it. He slowly went into the house preparing himself for whatever Nino threw his way until he saw what could only be a robbery, the table had been tossed aside the furniture ripped apart, drawers had been searched and then ripped out of their cases. The patio doors had been smashed and Sho felt like falling to the floor.
“Sho check upstairs...I doubt they stuck around but...” Nino barked pulling his phone out of his pocket as he walked over and checked the alarms a frown on his face. With a hiss Sho remembered that neither he nor his dad had reset it when they had left. Guilt clawed at him again and he put a hand on Nino’s shoulder surprised at how tight he was,
“Nino...I’m sorry...” He apologised but Nino shook his head shrugging him off as he pulled out his phone,
“Just go upstairs...But be careful it’s only stuff...It can be replaced but if there’s somebody upstairs...” He said tightly as he dialled for the police. Sho untangled himself from Masako who was looking around with disbelief at her family photos, the ones that Aarin had broken, and tears in her eyes. Sho slowly walked up the stairs his hands clenching tightly as he saw that Nino’s room was in just as much disarray as the downstairs was. His mattress was on its side resting against the bathroom door his cupboards had been ransacked but there was thankfully no signs of anyone still there. He walked up the stairs again and pushed open the door of the room that he always used when he stayed and saw a similar state of devastation within. The next room was the same as was Jun’s, only Masako’s was different. All the underwear that she had left inside was now in the centre of her bed in a pile and, judging by the crusty stains that Sho saw on them they had used for pleasure. Anger and nausea crept in his heart and he turned on his heel running back down the stairs.
“There’s nobody up there...” He told Nino who was putting his phone away and looking paler than he had done in the car even with Jun working his fingers on the back of his neck in slow circles while he tried to get him to take some painkillers, he really was fussing like a devoted mother hen Sho thought with a wary smile as Nino let out a loud sigh his eyes closing as he said,
“I didn’t think they’d stick around...I’ll have to see what’s missing...”
“Nino...That’s not all...” Sho muttered and the older man’s eyes flew open his whole face tensing and his eyes screwed up in the corners like he was looking at him through bright sunlight and his voice was deathly quiet
“What else...”
“Um...Ma-Ma’s personal items...” Sho said delicately his arms going around his fiancée who was already looking like she was about to faint. Nino didn’t look much better in fact he looked a lot worse, his skin had taken on a glassy ashen colour and what little he could see of his eyes were dull and full of pain. His lips were a light pink and looked stretched across his teeth and Sho could understand why Jun was shooting his lover so many concerned looks “Her underpants and bras, which she left here...Um...They...I think...Nino are you okay? You should sit down...”
“I don’t want to sit down...I want this headache to go away” Nino snapped wobbling around a little until he sank against Jun looking like he was going to faint, his words slurring slightly “And then I want the plo-icee...”
“Nino...” Sho said as the older man slumped backwards his whole body suddenly going limp. For a moment the three in the room stood in silence a buzzing filling the air like a low hum of a wasp it was all in what felt like slow motion and then Masako pulled them out of it by screaming,
“Daddy?!”
“Kazu...? Kazu...” Jun said scooping him into his arms and carrying him over to the sofa and laying him down before shaking him gently “Kazu...”
“Daddy...” Masako said again her voice breaking with a sob as she dropped down beside her friend gripping her father’s hand and holding it so tightly that if he was awake it would be painful.
“Don’t just stand there ring for an ambulance...” Jun snapped as he was checking Nino’s eyes using the light from his phone. Sho stared in horror for a moment or two and then pulled out his phone quickly dialling for an ambulance as he was ordered. The phone buzzed for a minute and then died, it hadn’t worked right since he had thrown it around in the hotel room. He was just picking up the landline phone when there was a knock on the door and two uniformed police officers came inside. One was about Nino’s height and plump with greying hair and watery eyes and a moustache that covered the whole of his top lip like a fat caterpillar while the other was tall and thin so thin that it looked like he had been stretched out like gum. He was the youngest of the pair and if Sho had to guess he would assume that he was a rookie just out of the academy.
“We had a call about a burglary...” The younger one said after being prompted by the fatter, older, one. “Is this the right house? Ninomiya-san...”
“This is the right house...” Sho answered, in an amazingly calm voice for the circumstances, as he listened to the dull ring tone while typing in the three digit number “but Nino...Ninomiya-san is the man on the sofa...”
“What? What happened was he attacked...” The shorter man asked speaking for the first time as he strolled forwards he thumb sticking into his belt like a detective from a foreign TV show. Jun shook his eyes and then wiped his eyes with his thumb and fingers before answering in a trembling voice,
“No...I think it’s an intracranial aneurysma...”
“A what?” Masako asked in a shriek her lips pressed to her dad’s hand. Masako had always been emotional but after the events of today she was borderline hysterical and Jun didn’t seem far off, Sho thought noting that even he was close to tears as he swore silently at the phone waiting for somebody to pick up.
“Brain aneurysm...He needs to get to the hospital though...I’m not sure...I just remember my mum telling me about a patient...” Jun said fresh tears forming in his eyes as he sank to the floor next to his friend “I could be completely wrong...It might just be a severe migraine...I was going to make him go to the hospital as soon as possible...”
“I’ll radio through put him in the car...You won’t get an ambulance out there’s been an accident on the motorway...” The plump officer said before nodding at his partner “You help them and then stay here and get his statement...Are you the children of this man?”
“I am...Jun is...” Masako answered wiping her eyes on her the hem of her t-shirt not caring that she was showing off her stomach and Sho put the phone down hurrying over to her wondering how all this was possible. They had been having fun earlier, laughing and joking and now all of this after everything else that Nino had been through it wasn’t fair.
“I’m his lover...” Jun whispered as he helped the thin officer, who quickly identified himself as Kobayashi Yuichi and his partner as Tanaka Minato, to pick Nino up again. Neither of them batted an eye lid at that statement Tanaka just squeezed Masako’s arm lightly saying,
“Don’t worry I’ll get your dad to the hospital...He’ll be fine...I’m sure it’s just stress...”
“Yeah...He’ll be okay...” Masako nodded with a smile that looked fake on her face and then Tanaka turned to Jun looking like he was about to say the same thing but stopped when he saw, Sho would admit, the terrifying expression on the teenager’s face as he cradled Nino to his chest.
“Let’s just get him to the hospital, okay?”

A/N: I’m sorry if you think that this came out suddenly but I had always intended this to happen...I have been talking about Nino’s headaches and the tension in his body throughout the story, I’m sorry >.<
