Lord Ohno's Home part 13
Aug. 10th, 2013 10:36 am“For Saito...?” Ohno repeated slowly staring down into his face and Nino nodded once slowly before taking a gulp “You wish to place a monument to the man that took you from me and...Forced you...”
“I wish to place the monument for the sister of the boy he was...Fuwa...Your friend who has done so much for both of us...He, in spite of what he became, was her brother...” Nino whispered trying to make his lord understand. He had not forgotten the promise that he had made to Fuwa and although his heart still ached at the thought of placing any kind of stone for the man that had taken him he could not, not ask, “Please, my lord...”
“Is that your only reason, Kazunari?” Ohno asked his voice just a low steady growl. There was none of the lover and warmth from earlier and Nino stared at him wondering if he meant what he was thinking he did. He hoped not but that was the only thing that made since. Ohno, his beloved lord who had whispered so many sweet promises and words of affection just a few minutes ago, was thinking that he wanted the monument because he had feelings for the man that had taken him. His blood ran cold in his veins as he stared at his lord pushing himself up into a seated position,
“Yes...What other reason could there be?” he asked keeping his voice as calm as he could manage as his heart raced wondering how, even now after all they had been through together, his lord could still doubt him and himself.
“...” Ohno made a noise that sounded like a grunt and for a moment the harsh, unforgiving man was back, his eyes were dark and unfeeling and his jaw was locked into a dangerous grimace. Nino gulped again a shiver breaking down over his skin he lowered his head and then Ohno growled his fists hitting the bed beside him. “I am sorry...Of course there would be no other reason...I truly apologise...”
“You...My lord...I admit that...” Nino stopped thinking hard as he tried to word what he was feeling. There was so much that was just going through his mind that he was worried that he would never be able to figure it all out. But there were no feelings that his lord had the need to be jealous over “There is much that I feel for Saito...Most of it is anger and disgust...But...There is also sadness in my heart for the little boy that never had hope...A little boy that could have so easily been you...” He whispered remembering what little Fuwa and his lord had told him of the boy. What they had told him was enough to squeeze some pity into his heart for him. “Please do not misunderstand the very thought of Saito still being alive is enough to make my flesh crawl and to even have him violate my dreams is enough to fill me with dread but...At one time he was your friend and Fuwa’s younger brother...People do things that we will never understand or forgive but...At the same time we remember...Fuwa remembers and while she remembers she also wonders and feels guilt that she could not stop the change...”
“Kazunari...I understand but Fuwa understands why I could not allow such a thing...” Ohno murmured and quickly Nino reached out and stroked his scar running his tongue over his dry lips
“Please my lord, even now she fights so she does not show that she feels grief that he is dead...She should be allowed to mourn her brother even one as monstrous as Saito...When I lost Jun and was taken to the Garden they told me that I was not allowed to grieve for him... I was not even allowed to mourn for my parents. I remember that there words were ‘It is done there is no need to look back’” Nino sighed quickly remembering the anger those words and made him feel then “Seeing how it was making me feel Masaki took a stone from the garden and spent days carving their names into it...He hurt his hands so many times and was punished for marring himself but when he finished he presented it to me and for the first time I had something to focus on...It helps...”
“Kazunari...I will feel anger each and every time that I look upon it...But...You are right, as always...” Ohno sighed grabbing his hand and kissing his palm “But if you can put aside your feelings then I can focus on mine, Yasu should be allowed to grieve for her brother and perhaps that it will make you see to that he is dead...I killed him myself and I watched his body burn...”
“I hope so my lord...” Nino whispered with a grin throwing his arms around his neck and holding him close their tacky naked bodies rubbing each other in a pleasant way. There was only mild discomfort and the feeling and Nino pressed his face into the scar on Ohno’s chest his lips ghosting over it thinking that maybe there was hope for him after all.
*~*~*~*~*
The next morning after the family had breakfasted and Nino was installed into the garden next to the pond with Satoru and a host of village children Ohno walked out into the town. He pace was quick and he held himself firm acting as if he was unwelcome among the people of his village. He kept his head up the best that he could though he turned his face away each time somebody caught his eye. The first time somebody spoke to him it was the weaver’s wife, she was standing against her door with a cleaning brush in hand and very slowly she bowed and then called
“Good morning, my lord...” with a slightly hesitant voice. Ohno froze for a moment and then turned jerking his head into a nod managing to gruff out a soft
“Good morning...”
After that the village seemed to explode with life with voices calling out to him as he made his way to the stone masons. He replied to each of the cheerful greetings each one managing to spin his stomach into knots of surprise. Not since he was a small child had so many of the village folk spoken to him in anything other than hushed voices by the time he had reached Oshiro Kenichi’s house his voice was slightly sore from speaking so much but there was the traces of a happy smile on his lips.
“Good morning, my lord, I hope that all is well...” Oshiro said as he appeared in his workshop and Ohno nodded staring at the just slightly older man “The pond is fine...”
“Yes, Oshiro-san, the pond is better than my love or I could have envisioned it, our son Satoru and I have named the fish...” He murmured before he could stop himself. He blinked in surprise looking into the work worn face of the stone mason wondering if his tongue had been loosened by so many greetings. Never before had he let out such pointless private information. Oshiro though smiled at him as he wiped his hand on a rag that was tucked into his clothing.
“I am glad that it meets with your approval my lord...” He said motioning for him to follow him into the small house. Ohno did so bowing to the surprised woman and boy that were inside. The boy looked just slightly older than Nino with short black hair and the same smile as Oshiro indicating that they were father and son. He was fairly good looking, broader than Nino but still lean and Ohno could see muscles rippling in his arms. Sweat was clinging to his face from working and there was a smear of grime and stone dust over his cheeks. Ohno was surprised when the boys hand accidently brushed against his arm and the smile grew. Ohno supressed a growl his hand itching to reach for his blade, he may have softened a little under the care of his love but he was not allowing youths to touch him as though they had a right. Only Nino had that permission “My son, Iwao, My lord...and my wife Kyou”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you my lord” Iwao said with a slight curve to his mouth and a light in his eyes that Ohno would have found charming on Nino but did nothing for him on the face of this youth.
“Would you care for a drink my lord?”
“Yes...Thank-you, Oshiro-san” Ohno said turning to nod at the warm that had spoken who was waving a bottle around looking nervous and pleased all at once. Oshiro motioned for him to sit down and Ohno did so making sure to stay as far as he could from Iwao. They sat in silence as Kyou poured them all a drink with Ohno politely ignoring the stares that Iwao was giving him. As soon as the woman sat he took a sip of his drink and smiled at the pleasant flowery taste of the drink “Rose and jasmine water...My love...Kazunari makes the same rose water...”
“My lord, I...I confess that the recipe is one that I took from the lord at your celebration...” Kyou murmured hanging her head and Ohno smiled drinking more before coughing and trying to return to the lord of old as he turned to look Oshiro.
“I am here to once again ask for your services, Oshiro-san...My love has brought to my attention that there is no monument to my mother and his parents...I wish to rectify that...Also I wish for you to build a smaller monument to honour the former lord Saito...” Ohno murmured and there were the soft intakes of breaths that he was expecting “As you know my friend Fuwa was the sister of my fallen enemy, I wish that she may be able to honour his memory...”
“I...I understand my lord...If you wish to go over the designs...” Oshiro said looking slightly dumbfounded but Ohno smiled pulling the plans that he had drawn up this morning before Nino had awoken.
“I have made these...I trust that you will be able to complete the work...” He said dropping the paper down onto the table and Oshiro whistled as he studied them his eyes taking in all of the details for some time before he spoke.
“Of course my lord...This is a beautiful monument...” Oshiro breathed his fingers tracing the paper and Ohno nodded with a smile draining the last of his drink.
“Then I thank-you...The price we will arrange when you have completed the work...” he said getting to his feet “I thank-you for your drink, Oshiro-san...”
“We shall come to the castle tomorrow” Oshiro murmured motioning to his son and Ohno nodded ignoring the way that the boys eyes moved over him, knowing that he was going to have to crush such affection before Nino saw it, though it was flattering that somebody else found him attractive.
