The chorographer was a woman with a messy bun and a bubbly personality. She smiled winningly at them all and seemed to genuinely want them to do well. Nino sucked. He knew that he did. His body didn’t want to move in the way the woman wanted him to and he could feel her patience slowly ebbing away as she tried again and again to get him to do a set piece. Eventually she called a halt to his attempts and told him to take five. He almost ran to his mother who was sitting with all of the other guardians on benches around the room. She looked bored, but was attempting to make conversation with the women around her.
“Kazu? Are you okay?” She asked when she looked up and saw him. Nino knew that he probably looked like he was wanting to cry but he managed to push it away as he grumbled;
“I can’t dance, I keep getting the steps wrong...”
“Okay, let’s go get a drink and we’ll talk about it” Kazuko got up from her bench and then grabbed him by the arm and dragged him out of the audition room. “What happened?”
“I can’t move the right way, I’m too...Omega in my movements” Nino sighed as they walked over to a vending machine that was resting against the wall. His mother gave him a look, pulling her purse out of her bag and taking a few coins out of it. She slipped them into the slot as Nino looked around the corridor. It was fairly empty but there was a group of older looking teens not so far away. They were good looking and all seemed to be standing around a central boy. Nino was vaguely sure that he had seen him some where before. His face was a little chubby and his hair appeared to be in a scruffy sort of style. Unlike the rest of the boys, he was wearing a school uniform, which Nino felt sure was from Keio. The college feeder school. It meant that his family were pretty wealthy or already famous to get him in.
“Is that what she said?” His mother asked pulling his attention away from the teen in the uniform and Nino remembered what kind of situation he was in. He didn’t know what he would do if he did get through the audition stage, he couldn’t keep wearing Yuza’s clothes after all, but his personality refused to allow him to give up.
“No, but it was what she implied. Urgh...”
“...Hmm...I see, well why don’t you play on that?” Kazuko suggested quietly handing him over a can of coke and Nino blinked slowly his mouth opened in a stunned mutter of;
“What?”
“Ask her if you can do the dance in your own style. There is a biological difference between Omega and the other genders, Nino, your body is designed to attract Alpha and Beta” Kazuko whispered making sure that nobody could hear her. Nino found his cheeks blushing. He had tried to ignore the words, he had already read all the books. His father and mother had insisted on that because neither of them had known much about Omega. “It will become more noticeable when you’re older and fully present but you’re already going through puberty so your body is already changing...”
“Please...Please don’t give me the talk in a corridor at Johnny’s” Nino hissed his eyes going back to the group of boys further down the corridor. His heart leapt when the boy from Keio locked eyes with his. There was quite a distance between them but Nino was sure he was judging him. A small jolt of electricity ran down his spine and he genuinely felt the urge to purr. He didn’t, he stopped himself by gripping both his hands together his nails digging into his palms.
“I wasn’t going to, I was just saying...Use your uniqueness and it will be great, okay?” Kazuko urged him and Nino gave a nod letting out a soft shudder as he pulled his gaze away from Keio boy to look at the woman. “Johnny’s are famous for fan service, Kazu, play on it if you want to make it here, okay?”
“Okay, I can do this...” Nino agreed shakily sloshing back the drink and turning back to the training room. He still felt jittery from the stare he had just received but he pushed it away and focused on what his mum had said. He knew the dances, he and Yuza had practiced them over and over in her bedroom and his. Yes, his body wasn’t manly but it didn’t have to be, he could win over anyone he wanted and he would. The chorographer was talking to the manager type man when he entered and she lifted her eyebrow at him when he asked if he could show her a different dance but she nodded and watched with her arms folded over her chest as he took a deep breath and pretended he was in his bedroom with his cousin.
