“I can’t believe him! My brother!” Sho raged while Masako folded the clothes that had she had washed earlier that day. She couldn’t say that she was surprised by the fact Satoshi and Nino had gotten together. She had always thought it was just a matter of time and she was happy for them though if Satoshi hurt her friend she would happily take his testicles. Of course she couldn’t say that to her husband, not in the state he was in, it would just make him worse so instead she just hummed as he moaned and ranted. “I can’t believe it! He’s my best friend and I love him but...He’s not good enough for my brother”

“Nobody ever would be, ne?” Masako chuckled positive that she wasn’t jealous of the brother complex Sho had but sometimes she thought it was a bit much.

“That’s not true! I just don’t know why! I know Kazu has always had a bit of a crush on him but, Satoshi would never look at him that way! He’s never been serious about anyone before. Why now?” Sho asked and despite her promise to herself not to wind him up Masako found herself giggling and saying;

“I dunno, if Kazu was a woman people would say he got her pregnant”

“He got my brother pregnant! I’ll kill him!” Sho spat looking as though he was about to leave their home and find Satoshi and kill him. Masako dropped the t-shirt she had been inspecting and said quickly;

“Sho-chan! Please, I know you’re angry but think about what you’re saying, Kazu-kun is a boy, he can’t get pregnant, doofus...” Sho blinked stopping by the front door before turning a soft pink colour and saying sheepishly;

“...Yeah...You’re right, but...I still don’t get it! Why my Kazu?”

“...I always said that they would get together, it as inevitable like Thanos...” Masako said frowning as her phone rang. She pulled it out of her pocket and saw that it was Nino calling. “I gotta answer this, its the practice” She lied knowing that if Nino was calling her phone and not the main phone then he wanted to talk to her and not his brother. It was a system they had used since she had married Sho and it had worked well since. Sho looked grumpy but he nodded taking over clothes folding duties while he mumbled and Masako headed out of the house before answering with a “Hello? What’s up?”

“You can talk right? Nii-chan isn’t there?” Nino asked down the line and Masako was positive that she could hear the sound of water being splashed and she knew her friend was in the bath. He rarely had baths preferring the quickness of a shower but when he was stressed he liked to soak and Masako closed the door and chewed on her plump lips.

“Yeah, I can talk, are you okay?” She said moving down the steps until she was standing in the small garden that over looked the street. It was barely bigger than a single bed but she had two rabbits living in it and they jumped around her feet as Nino sighed to the background music of moving water.

“...Physically I’m fine but...Urgh! You are the only person I can tell this too and you have to promise that you won’t say anything even to Sho-nii”

“That depends, are you in trouble?” Masako said knowing that she would keep her friends secret if it wasn’t anything illegal or dangerous. It was a rule they had and although some people might say she was a bad wife for keeping secrets from her husband she knew that was a load of bull. They were two different people they didn’t have to tell each other everything.

“No, sort of, but not really, Satoshi did something really stupid...” Nino answered and Masako let out a groan relaxing as she chuckled;

“Besides dating you and not telling your brother first?”

“We’re not dating, not really...” Nino hummed to the sound of a tap being switched on and Masako had to admit her interest was raised by that statement but she waited for Nino to keep talking. “You know that his dad is sick right?”

“They haven’t said anything but its obvious that he’s been going to the hospital. What’s wrong with him?” Masako asked sitting down next to her beloved bunnies and stroking them between their overly long ears and Nino sucked in a breath before saying heavily, his voice thick with more emotion than even he could fake;

“Cancer, he’s dying, they have given him six months at most...”

“What!? No way!” Masako hissed her own eyes filling with tears as she thought about the wonderful man that had been like a second father to her even though she had no real connection to his family. The Ohno, Sakuari-Ninomiya had been close since forever though, most people thought they were related but they weren’t. But that didn’t stop them from acting like it and since she had married Sho she had become part of that happy bubble and it broke her heart to think of the kindly man being sick.

“It’s true, I’m sorry Masako, I shouldn’t have told you that over the phone but I assumed that you knew...” Nino apologised pulling her out of her thoughts to say;

“No, it’s not your fault, I just...Can’t believe it”

“Me neither, he looks so healthy and happy. But he’s always put a brave smile on everything. Anyway, he told Satoshi over the phone while we were waiting for the plane and he told Satoshi that his only regret was that he hadn’t met the person Satoshi had fallen in love with...” Nino explained and a slow flicker of realisation was started to come over her. “Satoshi being the idiot he was told him that he had met the person because it was me!”

“What! He really is an idiot! And you agreed to go through with it?” Masako laughed though it was somewhat a false laugh as she knew that Nino liked Satoshi even if he wouldn’t admit it and she knew that this was going to be hard on him. Nino let out a huff saying sharply;

“Well, I didn’t want to much at first but then...I just sort of agreed because wouldn’t you agree in a situation like that?”

“Well...I don’t maybe...But Sho-chan is going crazy, you should tell him the truth...” Masako whispered looking through the window to look at her husband who was calmer than he had earlier though it was clear that was only because he didn’t have anyone to rant at.

“No, it would look suspicious if Nii-chan was okay with this we only need to pretend for this weekend then we can break up and tell Nii-chan the truth...” Nino sounded as though he had put his phone down while he washed his hair and Masako raised her voice just a little so he would hear her as she asked;

“Then why tell me?”

“Because I need someone to talk to and you are my best friend, please Masako?” Masako could easily imagine Nino giving sad puppy dog eyes and Masako sighed knowing that she wouldn’t win.

“Fine, but you have to tell me everything!”

Ohno is going to be in big trouble when they fake break up, won’t he? Lots of obstacles here. Ohmiya have a tough road ahead, but I believe they’ll get through it in the end.
