“Are you okay?” Nino asked as Masaki came to settle beside him and Tainta and Arran. His hand moved up and down Masaki’s back. He was already in full Omega mode for Tainta and Arran and Masaki seemed to relax as well. The omega’s head came to rest on his lap his arms wrapping around his waist as he muttered;
“I know that you don’t remember him but I do and I hate him. He was disgusting...He kept touching me...And today I remembered it” Masaki shuddered violently and Nino felt a burn of anger flare in his chest from both Tainta and Arran which sort of matched his own. “...I thought for sure that he was going to recognise my scent, I know he was suspicious...”
“You and Sho spend a lot of time together, Sho is constantly cleaning you so your scent is mostly his” Tainta said with a chuckle and Masaki turned to look at her as though he had just realised that she was there. Nino watched with a smile as Masaki flushed and then rubbed his face further into his lap. Nino played with his hair.
“At least it’s a good thing, but I think you should stay away from him as much as possible. Don’t go down to the lower camp”
“Yes, bearer” Masaki laughed looking up at him with a strange look in his eyes. Nino frowned tucking a lock of his hair behind ear before bobbing him on his nose.
“What are you grinning about all stupidly?”
“Nothing” Masaki shook his head and Nino rolled his eyes before pressing a kiss to his forehead. Tainta and Arran snuggled closer into him and Nino let out a pulse of warmth through all of the connections in his heart and received the feeling back from all of them even the strange one from Mao.

Mao gave a small sigh as she felt the warmth of the strange Omega flowing into her. It was never a feeling that she had before. She had been cared for by her own bearer but only because she was an alpha and she thought that she could get something out of her. Her sire had hated her for being an alpha when his son with his true mate had been a beta. Her bearer had shown her more care when she had taken over the RedRiver pack but there had never been anything like the pulsating warmth she felt from the Nova Omega. The bond around her heart was as golden as the soon and perhaps just as deadly. She sent back a little bit of the feeling, tentatively almost afraid that given the strangeness of the situation Nino would reject it but he didn’t.
“We need to run hard and fast, take no risks...” She snapped at her packmates but they took it with good humour. The rumours that others heard they knew were false and it showed in their attitude towards her. Even the pack members that had been there with her sire knew that she was not as blood-thirsty as she was portrayed and they all thought that he had deserved what he had gotten. They didn’t know half of the things that he had done, tying to force an imprinting between herself and Jun.
It hadn’t worked, an imprinting was something special, innocent, pure, the bond she and Jun had was twisted into something sick and it festered in her heart in ways that she couldn’t describe. She had never dared ask Jun what he felt, if anything, she had always hoped he hadn’t felt anything at all but now she knew he did and she pitied him. It was her personal belief that the forced imprinting was the reason that Jun had many omega characteristics and if they could break it would make him the beta he was meant to be. Since becoming Alpha of the red river she had sought out ways to end the bond but so far all she could find was death was the only option and that was no option in her mind.
The golden bond flexed around her and she let out a louder sigh wondering if maybe the strange omega with the golden eyes would be able to cure her, if not for her for Jun. She had wanted to hate him she truly had. He was their sires favoured child while she was no better than a rogue and then she had seen him. A goofy looking child with thick eyebrows and a crooked smile. Before the forced imprinting inflicted on them she had wanted to be a friend to her brother and she longed for the day that might happen.
Most would ask why she didn’t keep him with her in the RedRiver but that had not been possible. The longer they were around each other the stronger the fake bond grew and their bonding was not something that could end in happiness.
“Alpha up ahead there is a scouting party...” The voice of her third called and Mao pushed away her thoughts and focused her mind. She was not as blood thirsty as many would believe but she did enjoy a fight and it would get her ready for the fight that was to come.

“Your name is Scarlet is it not?” Jun asked kneeling beside the old omega who had probably looked like her daughter when she was younger. Her face was now lined with age and had long since lost the bloom of youth. Her eyes were hallow and filled with sadness and Jun longed to put his arms around her and comfort her. She dragged her eyes away from the far wall of the cave and gave him just the hint of a smile saying softly;
“Aye, it is, for all that it matters”
“I’m sorry for the loss of your daughter, Magenta, I can’t possibly understand how you feel...” Jun whispered and the woman gave a slow nod her eyes shining with tears as she clenched already gnarled hands so tightly they cracked and groaned against each other. She blinked brushing tears away from her eyelashes before looking at him and saying in a stronger voice;
“I have felt a little better since travelling through the lands of the Nova and seeing a stone in her memory...”
“It was all we could do” Jun swallowed remembering the small service the Nova had held for the wolf that was not of their pack. Masaki had shared a few memories of the woman he had known and they had asked for the moon to watch other her passage into the next life.
“You did more than would have been done in her own pack. You are the healer of the Nova pack...My daughter died of her injuries, were you with her when she died?”
“I held her as she passed, my alpha’s mate prepared her for burial as did...”
“Yusagi...I am glad...” Jun nodded and then held out a small earthenware cup of water. “Thank-you, the Nova are unlike any I have seen before”
“We have a unique alpha and an even more unique omega...”
“I hope you win but Ichigo is a dangerous man, the loss of Nino hurt him deeply and he will stop at nothing...If he knew...” Scarlet stopped speaking as a howl went up from outside the cave and Jun turned to look at his fellow healers. He had expected the fight to start soon but he had imagined that they would have more time. “Beta Umi...She is as insane as Alpha Ichigo, more so now she is wanting to prove that she has what it takes to be third now my mate is done for...”
“You will be kept safe, Scarlet, I promise...Some of your former pack mates are further in the cave, perhaps you will want to go to them. A familiar omega may calm them”
“I will do what I can” Scarlet nodded while Jun gave her a smile shouts going up outside while wolves transformed and shifted howling as they prepared for battle. He wanted to go to them to fight alongside his pack mates but he was a healer and this was where he needed to be.
