“Son!” A booming voice called out and Satoshi’s face instantly relaxed into a smile as he turned and saw his sire walking towards him followed by most of his pack. Satoshi recognised them all even though it had been years since he had seen them. Nino was at his side and he gasped a little looking in confusion at the alpha stalking towards them. Satoshi wasn’t overly surprised. He and his sire looked nothing alike, his sire was a giant of a man with broad shoulders and long legs. When he flexed muscles other muscles had to shift out of the way. He was a kindly man however and Satoshi loved him dearly. “By the nine and the holy eight it is good to see you pup!” The older alpha pulled him into a one armed hug before stepping back and looking Nino over “But...Bloody hell, when the message came I didn’t believe it...But now...It’s like looking into the eyes of a ghost. You’re Kazuko’s pup through and through...”

“Very pleased to meet you sir” Nino hummed politely though he didn’t take on the traditional stance that an omega should when addressing an alpha. Of course the Alpha Ohno didn’t mind, he just threw his head back and howled with laughter.

“Most certainly Kazuko’s pup, she would bow her head to no-one but your sire, is Saito around?”

“He is currently helping Masaki prepare food for us to take. My Tamaska senses that his pack have not been eating well. Is my bearer with you?” Satoshi asked looking for the woman that had bore him. His father had two other mates besides his bearer but he had only fathered one other pup, a beta who had moved to another pack before Satoshi was born. His own bearer was the Alpha-omega but she was close to the other mates and it worked for them and their pack but Satoshi had only known he would have one mate.

“She’s around somewhere...Couldn’t keep her away...We bring grave news, we heard that Alpha Inoue of the RedRiver pack has set out from her territory, if she joins with Ichigo...”

“The RedRiver pack stand with the Nova pack, sire, my beta Jun is brother to Alpha Inoue, he asked for her aid, she sent word that she would come” Satoshi answered softly. He knew his sire would advise caution in dealing with Alpha Inoue Mao. Her reputation was well known and well earned among the packs. It was a risk but he genuinely believed that Inoue had some goodness in her, she was related to Jun after all and he was one of the nicest betas he could have met.

“By the nine and holy eight I hope you know what you’re doing. Inoue is almost feral, what she did to her sire...” Alpha Ohno gave a shudder clutching the talisman around his neck. Although most wolfkind worshiped the great moon, the Ohno pack followed the old religion worshiping the nine planets that were visible throughout the year and the eight lords of the moons. Satoshi had never followed the religion even when he was a member of the pack but he still knew the symbols and what they meant.

“She challenged him and won, she took those of his family that wished to stay and has supported them since” Satoshi said carefully. It wasn’t against the council for an alpha to challenge an alpha more so when they were blood related. It was rare for a challenge to end in death these days but it happened and Inoue had followed the rite perfectly.

“She tore of his head and displayed it for all to see”

“That was a rumour and one that my beta has debunked”

“I still urge caution when dealing with the RedRiver pack”

“And I will use caution, I promise, but the Ichigo must stop and we need allies” Satoshi hummed. He had spoken to the council about Alpha RedRiver and although they had said she was difficult they had also told him that she had great affection for those that were normally cast aside. Gamma, Delta, Sigma, she hated those that mistreated them and the Ichigo fell into that. “I am so happy you came, sire. I have missed you”

“And I you pup, I wish it had been a happier meeting”

“Meetings are always a mix of sadness and joy” Saito hummed coming towards them with Masaki at his side and Alpha Ohno smiled happily.

“You old rogue, you are looking better than ever” He said going to meet his old second while Satoshi looked at Nino who had been tugging on his arm.

“Tamaska? Are you okay?”

“Jun’s sister sounds scary"

“If half of the stories Jun has told me about his sire are true then it is little wonder that she did what she did. The old alpha or RedRiver does not deserve your pity” Satoshi hummed stroking his face with a smile “From the way Jun talks she is impressively intimidating and yet he has great affection for her all the same, I don’t think he would if she was even half as cruel as the stories make out...”

“I hope so, we’ve got enough problems with the Ichigo” Nino sighed scratching the back of his neck before gasping as he doubled over his hands going to his chest.

“Tamaska? What’s wrong?”

“Hua...He’s been hurt...He’s calling for me...” Nino whispered his eyes wide with fear as his body started to twitch with the beginnings of his shift.

The rock slide had been painful. Hua thought as he tried to turn his head but found himself trapped between twin sharp rocks. He had been on a scouting mission when a rock had suddenly given way under his weight. There had been no time to get to safety and now he trapped in a hole with more rocks falling on top of him in painful thunks. His jaw was broken, he could tell that from the amount of pain that was pulsating through it and it made it impossible to howl or make any sound at all.

Hua had always been a little bit of a loner, even within the Nova pack. He had always felt as though he didn’t belong, oh he loved his brothers and sister. His alpha was more than he could have hoped for but there had always been something that made him feel less of a member. Perhaps it was because he wasn’t from this country. He had travelled here when he was young but it was never his home. His home had always been somewhere over the water and a part of him had always believed he would return there one day. He wasn’t the most talkative of the beta, Tainta and Ryuichi were the out-going ones while Sho, Arran and Jun were the smart ones. His place had been uncertain. That was until Nino had come to the pack.

The omega probably hadn’t been aware he was doing it but he had coaxed him into playing games when the others weren’t there, teased him and accepted being teased back cuddled up to him for no reason. Nino had never let him sit on the edge of the group but always forced him to join in. It was odd, more so given how much younger than he the omega was, but Hua had started to think of the omega as a bearer. He had never known his bearer or sire. But the young Omega had started to fill that hole and now he used the link between them to reach out to him. If he was going to die alone in a hole he wanted to feel connected to the omega.

“Nino...”

“I’ve got to go to him! He’s alone...Frightened and in pain...He is my pack!” Nino growled before completely shifting. He didn’t register that there was no pain he just focused on Hua’s link around his heart as he ran from the pack. He was quicker than any of wolf and he needed to find Hua before it was too late. The gentle shy wolf had always seemed so hesitant but Nino had tried his hardest to include him in everything that he did and he wasn’t going to lose a member of his pack, not now, not when they hadn’t even spent time together. “Keep reaching out Hua, I’m coming I’m going to find you...”
