Nino was rather impressed with the pantry stores. It was well-stocked, even more so than the village stores and he could tell that there was enough food to last them an entire month if the storm continued that long. For now though he was doing his best to prove that he was a good omega and cook by making the best meal that he had ever done.

It wasn’t hard with the quality of the ingredients and the fact that Sho told him that he wasn’t a fussy eater. That he could believe, nobody could be as bad a cook as Sho was and be a fussy eater but he was determined to make him realise what it would mean to have an omega around. He made soup and smoked fish with rice and greens. Back in his village he had never tried but was often begrudgingly told that he was a good cook and now he was trying he hoped and hoped that it was perfect.

Sho was sitting cross legged in the middle of the floor reading through the papers that made no sense to Nino but seemed to fascinate the alpha. He would let out excited exclamations every so often or grunts of disappointment before taking out a pencil and scratching out lines from the text. Nino had never met anyone who didn’t live in a pack before and he longed to ask questions but he also didn’t want to disturb him. Whatever he was doing looked important and the last thing he wanted was to set him back.

The food cooked however and knowing that it wouldn’t taste good cold Nino stood a little distance away twisting his thumbs together and looking at the hunched over back before whispering;

“Um, alpha...Alpha, the food is ready...”

“Just set it to one side...”

“Um, it should...Should be eaten warm” He squeaked a little as the alpha turned to look at him with the fiery red rings seeming to glow for a moment. His eyebrows were knitted together and the scowl on his face appeared to be telling him that he had made a mistake. He was about to apologise when the alpha relaxed, at least a little and then sighed nodding as he stood up and dusted off the clothes. The sight of him patting down his clothes reminded Nino of the clothes he was wearing and he bowed his head a little and said “Thank-you for the clothes, alpha...”

“It’s little bother, they were some of the things Satoshi left behind. You may have them all...It is your right after all”
Sho finished in a whisper and Nino cocked his head to one side his mouth forming a confused circle but Sho waved his hand dismissively “It’s no bother now, food, you said that it was ready and that it should be eaten warm?”

“Ye-Yes, um I hope that you enjoy it Alpha” Nino said directing Sho to a table he had unearthed under a pile of broken objects and some old books. It wasn’t very large but it would comfortably fit two people so long as they were facing each other and didn’t mind their knees touching. Sho looked at the spread laid out before him with a lifted eyebrow and then he nodded saying;

“It looks passible at least”

“I hope you like it...” Nino said again ignoring the gurgle in his own stomach to wait for the alpha to sit. He wanted to serve him the way that he had been taught but Sho looked at him as though he was an irritating bug.

“Why are you hovering like a fly? Omega?” He asked taking a seat just as Nino was about to pour him a drink and Nino licked at his lips whispering his explanation and the way that he had been taught to behave in the JEA pack.
“Let me inform you of one thing, Omega are not servants to alpha, they are their opposite and their equal. You are the soothing balm to the wraith of an alpha, the voice of reason while I am emotion led. Of course the packs would have you act that way as they are not led by true alpha, only those that are pretending and the omega only act that way as they are most likely sigma with some of the traits of omega”

“I don’t understand”

“Of course you don’t, you have been brainwashed into believing that Omega are beyond contempt and of no use beyond bearing children” Sho spat and Nino stiffened a little before remembering clearly the words of the three alpha in his pack.

“Only an omega can bear strong children for an alpha...”

“That at least is correct, but not because that’s all you’re good for. Omega produce the best children for alpha because they are their equal...Let me say I got it into my head to go to your village tomorrow and kill every last one of them, children included, nothing could stop me...If I made that my plan...” Sho informed him in a casual way and Nino shivered his mouth and throat growing dry as he felt the faint hairs prickle at the base of his spine. As if moving on its own his body propelled him forward so his hand could rest on his shoulder. Sho’s body was tense but after only a few moments it relaxed under his touch his eyes becoming almost dilated. “It’s okay little omega. I have was merely proving a point. Nothing could stop me...But you...Or rather an omega. As I said you are reason to my wraith...”

“I still don’t understand...”

“No, but you will. We might as well make the time we are trapped together mean something. I will teach you to be a true Omega and I will also show you what it means for somebody to be a true alpha. Now sit down, you said yourself that the meal should be eaten warm correct?” Sho hummed almost pushing him to the chair opposite him and Nino sat slowly worrying at his lip as he picked up his chopsticks and started to take the food he had just prepared. Sho waited for him to take a bite before moving to take his own and Nino felt strange but at the same time good as they ate the meal in silence until Sho said approvingly “This is perhaps the best meal I have ever eaten...You should be proud...”

“Thank-you, alpha”

“You are welcome, Omega” Sho smiled a little before picking up a jug of the sweet water he had had before and pouring them both a glass. Again he waited for Nino to drink first before taking his own cup and lifting it to his mouth whispering “Cheers”
