“Ohno-kun, if you stay behind, I will introduce you to Masaki-kun” Sho the tiger teacher said gently coming to stand beside his desk and Nino gave a small nod his eyes focused on the work booklet in front of him. Satoshi had said that he didn’t have to come back to school but everyone else had said that it would be better for him to return to normal as soon as possible. Nino had wanted to laugh at that, how could anything ever be normal again? “I know it’s not easy for you, Ohno-kun but if you ever need anything, I am here for you, okay?” Nino gave another nod flicking his gaze up at the tiger-hybrid for a moment before looking back at his desk. “Okay…Right class the bell is about to ring. Pack up your things…”

As soon as the teacher spoke everyone around him started to put their books into their bags and started talking all at once. Nino tried to make himself as small as possible as people started coming over to his desk. Nakamura, the class rep, was leading the charge and although he seemed friendly enough there was something about him that put Nino on edge. A growl came from the desk beside his and Nino watched in amazement as all the students stopped walking at once and then turned on their heel and walked away. Nino cast a quick glance at the teen at his side. He was tall and extremely good looking with black ears protruding from the top of his head. His eyebrows were thick, and his mouth had a strange crookedness about it.

“Annoying” The teen grumbled gathering his own books and sticking them in a leather bag. He looked at him as he spoke, and Nino quickly looked away his cheeks growing a bright pink. The alarm bell sounded, and the class spilled out into the halls leaving Nino alone with the teacher and the teen that had growled.

“Ohno-kun, this way” Sho waved his hand to get his attention and slowly Nino rose out of his chair and made his way to the teacher his books spilling out of his bag and onto the floor beside his classmates’ desk. Embarrassed he quickly moved to pick them up yelping in surprise as the other teen moved down as well causing them to bump heads painfully.

“Jeez, watch what your doing…Here…You should put your books away properly” The other teen grunted scooping up his books and stuffing them into his arms. Nino opened his mouth wanting to apologise but as hard as he tried no sound came out.

“Jun stop trying to scare the new student…It was an accident” The teacher said softly coming over and placing a warm and gentle hand on his shoulder. “Come on, Ohno-kun” Nino nodded his head in Jun’s direction and then carefully put his books back in his bag making sure that they were secure this time. He fell into step beside the teacher and Sho led him out of the classroom and down the hall. Nino had made this walk earlier with his brother and he knew that they were heading towards the prey classrooms.

The school served both prey and predator and for the most part they were mixed but their lessons were kept separate as it was thought joint lessons would cause too many distractions. Nino had never been in a mixed school before and it was taking some getting used to. Sho knocked on the door of classroom 4B then waited for a response. It came quickly in the form of a bright and cheerful;

“Yes! I’m coming!”

The door opened a few seconds later and Nino was presented by the most beautiful man he had ever seen in his life. His eyes were almost shaped and his face oval. His eyes were bright, and his ears were flopped. They were a soft white colour and were so long they brushed over his shoulders. He was a lot taller than he was expecting but he gave an air of friendliness.

“Aiba-kun, this is Ohno-Ninomiya Kazunari. Thank-you for showing him around…” Sho said and Masaki nodded happily his ears shaking back and forth.

“I’m sure we will be great friends!”

+ Jun PoV +

Jun watched the new student leave with the teacher and then got up from his own desk. He stuck his books into his bag and then scratched the back of his neck. He thought about heading to the roof like he normally did during lunch but then he remembered the way the class had swarmed around the new student. It had been unnerving, and he suspected that it would only get worse when they were away from the teacher. He growled at the thought but then caught himself. He had nothing to do with it, it wasn’t his job to look after the new student.

Making his mind up he grabbed his bag and made his way out of the classroom. The hallway was almost empty as he walked down towards the door that would lead to the roof. There were a few prey students and they were even more skittish around him than the predator ones were. A mouse and rabbit almost jumped out of his way and Jun flashed his teeth in their direction. They let out a few scared noises and then darted quickly out of his way. Jun chuckled under his breath and then slipped through the metal door that led him up to the roof.

Once on the roof he sat with his back pressed against the wall. He pulled out his lunch and set it on his knees. He didn’t know why his family insisted on sending him to the school. It was well known that the Apex were the least trusted of the predator class most hated them for just existing. Sho was trusted as a teacher but only after several years of building up trust. Jun didn’t have time to build up that kind of trust and even if he did, he didn’t care.

“And this is the roof” A bright voice hummed, and Jun looked up to see Masaki the rabbit hybrid coming through the door with the new student coming behind him. The boy looked as empty as he had in the classroom. “It’s really nice to sit up here in summer but…Ah…Matsumoto-san…I didn’t realise you were up here…Um…Sorry I was just showing the new student…Um…We’ll go…”

“It’s fine, stay” Jun grumbled with a shrug eating his food and Ohno stared at him intently before looking away his cheeks growing a warm pink. Masaki liked his lips and then grabbed holding Ohno’s hand before tugging him forward. They made an interesting pair and Jun couldn’t keep his eyes off Ohno’s tail as he moved forward. It was just like a fox’s tail and yet not and he couldn’t help but watch it as it swayed from side to side with the sway of his hips. Ohno cast another look over his shoulder and Jun pulled his eyes away his own tail brushing over the floor.

“Come on the view from over here is lovely” Masaki said tugging Ohno and Jun once again looked back up at the other teen his eyes never leaving the tail as though he was hypnotised by it.
