“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you?” Nino asked a little while later as he fixed his tie before smoothing off the lint from his jacket. Satoshi smiled at the domestic feel of the whole situation and then shook his head.

“It’s just the first meeting, I will be fine” Satoshi assured him wishing that he didn’t have to leave. He wanted nothing more than to just stay here with Nino, but he knew that Nino wouldn’t allow him to do that.

“Okay…Don’t be too nervous, Oh-chan, you will be perfect” Nino smiled kissing the corner of his mouth before handing him a shoulder bag that Satoshi knew he had had before. It was a professional looking bag leather with space for his lunch and a small computer. The front pockets had pens and even a recording device so that he wouldn’t have to make notes. It was amazing and he wondered where Nino had got it from. “See you tonight…”

“What are you going to be doing?” Satoshi asked knowing that he should have done so earlier but in honesty just wanting to delay a little longer. He wanted to be confident to be assured that he would be able to handle the case as Nino had said but he couldn’t deny that his father was right. He wasn’t a good lawyer and there wasn’t a real chance that he could win against the Ikuta’s.

“Sorting out our bedroom moving things around…” Nino shrugged with a smile and Satoshi felt a buzz of happiness at the use of our bedroom.“I may have already ordered that paint and stuff and I should get things ready so we can start when you get home from work…”

“Won’t it be too heavy…” Satoshi asked trying to imagine the small frail looking man moving the furniture around by himself. Nino chuckled and then flashed one of his sharp teeth reminding him with a soft;

“I’m a vampire, Oh-chan…I can handle it…But, thank-you…”

“Thank-you for what?” Satoshi mumbled in confusion and Nino shrugged again twin spots of colour forming in his cheeks before he mumbled;

“For caring about me, now, you should go. Go be amazing…Remember you promised me my date tonight…”

“So, decorating and a date…I have a busy night ahead…” Satoshi chuckled lightly actually happy that his life was so busy. His life a week ago had been so dull, to the point that he had become almost robotic. He didn’t think that Nino was right, he was positive that he wouldn’t have killed himself, but he was sure that he would have just given up on life. In fact, alcohol had already become a great comfort to him, something that he hadn’t even touched since Nino had arrived a few days ago. Nino’s hand came up and caressed his cheek and chin before he lightly kissed him on the corner of his mouth.

“Yup, a very busy night but I promise it will be worth it” Nino promised before lightly tugging at his tie. “Now, go and come back safely, Oh-chan…”

“I’ll be leaving first” Satoshi hummed lightly reluctantly turning on his heel and walking out of the apartment. Nino walked out into the hall with him and Satoshi smiled at him over his shoulder and then carried on out of his apartment block. Normally he would walk to his office only a few streets away but now he had to head to the prison where Yamashita Tomohisa was being held.

It was in the opposite direction to the normal police station that he did business with, but it wasn’t completely unfamiliar. When he had first started out his life as a lawyer it had been a regular station he would visit. It mostly handled white collar crimes and was more upend then the other station. Of course the officers inside worked on a shift pattern with the other station and he wasn’t surprised to find a familiar face behind the desk.

“Ohno-sensei. Have you made a wrong turn?” The officer on duty asked with a touch of a sneer to his face and Satoshi felt the confidence he had gained with Nino sap away under the stare. He swallowed and stroked the bag at his side trying to regain the feeling as he mumbled;

“I am here to speak with Yamashita-san. His father has assigned me to his case…”

“You? Guess he doesn’t think much of his son. Take a seat and I will go get somebody to get him ready…” The man said in a harsh tone and Satoshi gave a nod and then made his way to the uncomfortable bench that ran along one side of the hallway. Tapping his fingers on his bag for a moment he was surprised when one of his new notebooks slipped out and he saw that instead of a professional looking notebook it was a childish one with the picture of a penguin dressed as a vampire on the front. The penguin had his arms outstretched with a cape spread out behind him. Written in a neat print was the words ‘My opinion is all that matters, I think you are amazing…’ Smiling Satoshi traced the words until a shadow fell over him and he looked up to see the desk officer staring down at him. “He’s ready for you. I hope you’re a better lawyer than everyone thinks you are…”

“I’m sure I am” Satoshi muttered with confidence lifting himself up and stuffing the book back into his bag. His confidence on a high he allowed himself to be led to the interview room. It was a basic room with a chair and a desk partitioned by a glass wall. On the other side of the glass wall was a a young moody looking youth. His eyes looked up at him and Satoshi realised that he had similar looking eyes to Nino. They weren’t as startling beautiful as Nino’s but there was a small golden ring around each iris and Satoshi swallowed a little but then gave a smile moving forward and bowing his head and pulling out a business card. “Hello, my name is Ohno Satoshi your father has asked me if I will represent you. May I sit?” He said placing the card against the glass. The young vampire leaned forward and studied it before shrugging slowly. Satoshi decided to take that as a yes and sat down facing the young man. He took out his recording device and smiled. “Can you tell me what happened?”

“If you’ve already met my father then you know…”

“No, your father gave me some details of what happened, but I would like to hear it in your own words…” He explained and Yamashita nodded slowly before muttering;

“It is a complete misunderstanding…Toma…He and I are friends. His parents didn’t like that…”

“Why?” Satoshi asked gently and the young man managed to look nervous before he shrugged and then said softly, his voice almost a whisper;

“Because…We…We aren’t just friends…Our relationship is more than that…We’re gay. Get it? Is this where you go all funny and then leave? I deserve what I get right?”

“Homosexual doesn’t mean that you’ve done something wrong…But what you’re telling me isn’t like what your father told me so please, can you tell me your story from the beginning?” Satoshi asked and the man looked surprised but then nodded saying;

“Okay, fine…”
