Pairing: Ohno Satoshi/Ninomiya Kazunari
Rating: pg to nc17
Genre: romance, vampire, fluffy

This wasn’t meant to happen. Small time Lawyer Ohno Satoshi thought almost breathlessly as he closed his eyes and allowed sharp piercing fangs to slip into the soft flesh at the base of his neck. Things like this didn’t happen in the real world and if they did they didn’t happen to sleepy lawyers from dead end towns who had given up on their dreams a long time ago.
He had been thinking pretty much the exact same thing, or various versions of it, for almost three months now. Two months, three weeks and six days to be exact. The night he had met the only good thing that he had ever had in his life. It was typical of his luck that his one thing...The one thing that could make him want to get up in the morning was a bloody vampire...
Two Months, Three weeks and Six days earlier...
Ohno Satoshi gripped the plastic cup of coffee tightly. His fingers protected from the burn by a small cardboard protection. It wouldn’t do him any favours in the taste department, the coffee served in the police station was no better than gnats piss but he needed something to stay awake. He was the court appointed defence lawyer after all and his client, a teen that deserved to go down for life, was being a complete shit. Didn’t he know that he was his lawyer? That he had to frigging defend him if he wanted to or not.
“Sensei, long night?” The policeman on duty at the desk said with a smile but Satoshi knew that he wasn’t welcome. Defence lawyers rarely were. They were the fly in the machinery after all. They ruined what should have been open and shut cases. Satoshi hadn’t wanted to be any kind of lawyer growing up. His mother and father had forced him into it and because he wanted to please them he had gone along with it but his real passion had been bread. He had wanted to open his own bakery to create weird and wonderful breads like nobody had ever seen before but now he was almost 40 in a suit that didn’t fit wishing his life would hurry up and reach its unsatisfying end.
“No worse than yours...”
“You know he’s guilty right? Doesn’t deserve a lawyer” The desk officer said and Satoshi had to try his hardest not to nod. His client was as guilty as original sin, there was CCTV and eye witnesses to prove it, but even the guilty deserved a lawyer.
“The courts decide guilt...” Satoshi hummed sipping the god awful coffee before going back to the room where his client was sat. The man was hunched over in his chair his grubby fingers tracing patterns onto the table leaving a sticky residue behind. Satoshi sat himself opposite and tried once again to get him to talk. There wasn’t much he could do in this case. The evidence was against him and his own attitude wasn’t helping. After half an hour of a one sided conversation Satoshi decided that enough was enough and got up. “It’s getting late, you’re probably tired. I will come back again tomorrow...”
“Whatever, don’t bother, don’t need no lawyer, don’t want no lawyer” The criminal said, the first words that had come out of his mouth all night. Satoshi stared at him for the longest time and then sighed saying in an almost bored way;

“You understand that by refusing a lawyer you are refusing your right to legal council and that you will have to speak for yourself when you are in court?”
“Aint going to court am I, I did it...They got the proof...”
“You will still need to attend a hearing to have your sentence given, without legal council you will face the full...”
“Whatever...” The man shut up again and Satoshi sighed pulling on his coat and heading out of the small room glad to breathe some fresher air. He didn’t feel in the least bit guilty as he made his way out of the police station. The night was colder now and the protection from the wind in his threadbare jacket was laughable at best and quickly Satoshi made his way to the tram station. One of these days he would learn to drive and get himself a car, though to do that he would need a few clients that actually paid he supposed glumly almost slipping on the steps down into the station.
The late hour meant that there were very few people waiting to board and he managed to find a spot on a bench where he could sit and think about all the wrong turns his life had taken to get him to this point. There had been a few of them. He hadn’t enjoyed being a lawyer but there had been a time when he was good at it. Now his life was one big mess.
“Come on pretty...We all know what a guy like you wants...” Voices said harshly cutting through Satoshi’s thoughts like a knife and he looked up seeing a group of about 6 men surrounding a boy that couldn’t be older than a high school student. Although it was bitterly cold he wasn’t wearing much at all and what he was wearing was in tatters around him. His face was pale and his hair was a mess as though it had been pulled about at the roots. “Come with us...You know you want to...We could make you feel really good...”
“N-no...” The boy said his voice shaky, distant, and breathless and Satoshi wondered if he had taken something, either willingly or not, to look and sound the way he was. The lawyer thought he should stay out of it, there were a lot more of them than there was of him and it wasn’t really his fight but the idea of the six men doing something to the boy and him having to read about it in the paper the next day was more than he could stomach. He got up from the bench and made his way over to the group trying to steady his nerves while the boy stumbled and then swayed almost falling off the platform.
“What’s going on here?”
“Nothing, nothing for you to see old man...” The group laughed dismissively and Satoshi ignored them looking at the boy that looked dead on his feet. This close to Satoshi could see that he was beautiful, like a china doll with flawless pale skin and lashes so dark they looked like midnight splayed over the apples of his cheeks. His lips were pink and he had a cute little button nose. When he looked up at him Satoshi was unnerved to see that his eyes were...Golden...Or at least Golden brown and he wondered if he was wearing contacts.
“Are you okay? Are these men bothering you?”
“Yeah...Feel funny...Head light...Sick...” The boy whispered swaying again and this time he really did fall onto the platform. There was a sickening sounding crunch and even worse the sound of a train rushing towards the station.
“What the fuck!” The men screamed running off up the stairs and without knowing what he was going to do Satoshi jumped onto the line looking at the boy who was splayed out over the tracks. His eyes were closed but he still seemed to be breathing and Satoshi tried to pick him up but in spite of how small he was he seemed heavy and the train was getting louder. Not knowing what else to do Satoshi gripped the front of the boy’s tattered coat and pulled him down into a small service channel crushing him up against the wall while trying to protect him with his body. The train thundered into the station with a wailing of breaks and the slamming of coaches against coaches and Satoshi held tight to the boy as those on the station screamed and shouted about two men on the line.
“Who...You?” The boy asked in a slur against his neck and Satoshi cleared his throat and then whispered;
“Ohno Satoshi...You?”
“Nino...” The boy answered before fainting again his body going stiff against him. Satoshi held him close and then breathed out a long breath. It had been a long night.
