Eros part 10
Jun was swaying slightly as he walked into the room and Nino could smell the drink coming off of him and Nino recoiled it was so bad it smelt like Jun’s clothes had been soaked in it.
“Where have you been?” Nino asked as he closed the door and Jun turned around slowly looking shaky on his feet
“What’s it got to do with you?” was the almost slurred reply and Nino gave a sigh rubbing his temples with his thumb.
“I was getting worried…” He admitted chewing on his lip as his hand dropped down to his side hitting against his thigh “I haven’t seen you since the game…”
“Yeah I went home…My gran was sick…” Jun answered sounded more slurred with each word that managed to find its way out of his mouth and Nino gave another sigh and muttered under his breath
“Was that before or after you got headphones?”
“After…” Jun sighed sinking down onto the floor in an almost heap his back bumping against the partition wall with a loud thunking sound that caused Nino to flinch in sympathy when he saw Jun rubbing his elbow. Nino rolled his eyes and headed into the small kitchen area. Humming to himself he flicked the kettle on and then rested against the counter staring at the parts of Jun he could see through the door. The kettle boiled and he made two coffees, a milky one for himself and a strong almost black one for Jun, before heading back into the room to find his visitor was almost sprawled over the small table his head resting on his arms. His eyes were closed and his breath was coming out in a soft puff making him look younger and Nino smiled for a moment before coughing and putting the cups down on the table. Jun’s eyes flew open and he sat up with a jump blinking and before giving a squeaky yawn.
“How is she?” Nino asked sitting down in front of him and taking his own coffee before inclining his head at the other cup.
“Who…?” Jun asked looking honestly surprised and confused and Nino had to hide the smile that was creeping over his lips.
“Your grandma…?” Nino prompted watching the colour stain the other boy’s cheeks as he blinked.
“Oh…She got better…”
“I’m glad…” Nino murmured a trace of a smile on his lips and Jun looked away picking up the cup and cooling it slightly with his breath as Nino asked “So what can I do for you?”
"It’s about…I’ve been thinking about what I said in the café about Mariko’s cousin. Have you told anyone?” Jun asked nervously and Nino frowned wondering how he could even think that he would go around spreading something like that.
“Only Sachiko…And I can promise that she wouldn’t say anything…”
“Will you tell anyone else?”
“I’m not like that; I swear that I will never tell another living person for as long as I live…” Nino said holding up his hand and doing a scout’s honour salute “Just like if you leave this room tonight and tell me to stop hounding you I will, I swear…”
“You would just give up?”
“Yes, if that’s what you tell me to do today… Tonight…” Nino corrected himself when his eyes fell on the clock in the corner that told him that it was almost 9 o’clock. He hadn’t realised how late it was getting but then over the last week the days had become a blur of classes and then games.
“Why?” Jun asked slowly his eyes narrowing with disbelief and Nino smiled knowing that he had earned the distrust that he saw in Jun’s face. Geez had it only really been four times since they’d actually spoken. It felt like longer, maybe because he had thought about him so much in his mind that it felt longer.
“Because I was reminded that I’ve been pretty much a complete arsehole to you…” He answered giving a tired guilty sounding sigh as he brought his hand up and sheepishly scratched the top of his head knowing that even if Sachiko hadn’t said it that was pretty much what she had been thinking and after their talk he realised that his in your face kind of flirting would have been doing more harm than good if Jun was a scarred emotionally as Sachiko and he had been. “I’ve been trying to heave you out of Narnia…”
“What?” Jun questioned slowly his head tilting to one side, just the hint of a quirk to his lips. Nino found his cheeks flushing just a little and he waved his hand
“Sorry…It’s what Sachi and I call the ‘closet’ ever since we visited England…and ended up in this weird museum that was dedicated to the chronicles of Narnia there was all these weird statues…It was weird…” He said grimacing when he thought about all the wax statues that had been around with their expressionless glass eyes. A shiver crept down his spine that he was unable to push away.
“O-kay…” Jun said with a confused, no it was more of a bewildered, expression on his face and Nino gave a cough and then an apologetic smile remembering that he was meant to be talking about Jun and not dealing with his phobia of wax-work children and beavers. “You do know that you said weird…Three times right?”
“It was a weird place…” Nino grinned “Jun…I’m sorry…I’m sorry that I kissed you and I’m sorry that I made you confess that about thinking about Sho…”
“How’d you know that it was Sho?”
“I worked it out…Just now ‘cause you just admitted it…” Nino shrugged, though he should have guessed that the trips to the game had meant more Jun than a simple game. “Plus I had a teacher I had a crush on…Ohno…He was really nice I hung out with him when I could…And I would have looked the way you did if he had said that I couldn’t watch him paint…”
“…You slept with your teacher?” Jun questioned and Nino shook his head trying not to smirk that that had been the point that Jun had picked out on.
“Are you kidding? He was married and had two children!” He said chuckling loudly until it grew into a strong laughter which echoed around the room as he thought about the sleepy faced teacher wondering how he would have reacted if he knew that he had a crush on him. “Crushes with straight guys are the worst ne? No matter what you do you’ll never be the one they want”
“…I…”
“You know it’s the same for you dating a girl…The empty filling that surrounds you when you’re with her it will only get worse until you either blow up at her or at yourself…” Nino sighed, he’d been there and he done that, before he’d met Sachiko, he had tried with another girl. At first he had thought that it was just her but then slowly he had realised the truth, Sachiko had helped him there.
“I like her…” Jun said
“I know she seems like a great girl…” The smaller gut agreed slowly giving a nod. He couldn’t deny that Pixie really did seem like the type of person that he could hang around with but… “I like, if not love Sachiko, but if I had to continue to ‘date’ her I would go insane…But I’m not telling you this because she’s my rival or whatever crap I said before…”
“So why are you?”
“Because I know what it’s like…I, thankfully, wasn’t effected as much as Sachi was back in high school...But I can remember what it was like coming to terms with it…”
“But you’re still hiding now…” Jun pointed out and Nino nodded slowly knowing that that was partially true
“That is only our ‘on campus’ persona…Off campus we’re not the same…We hate it but itself preservation…And it’s only for a few years…”
“You mean like clubs and…Things…” Jun mumbled sounding like he was uttering something completely disgusting and Nino let out another round of laughing that caused Jun’s face to flush.
“Wow J, you sound like a kid…But yeah Clubs and things…Aww don’t look like that it’s not like I dress in full leather…” He said patting the hand that was under his gently surprised that he had been holding for so long and Jun hadn’t pulled away. “I hate to say it but it’s not going to be easy and there are times in your life when you’re going to feel worse than you ever have done before in your life but you have to remember that whatever you’re feeling it would be a whole lot worse if 10, 20, 30 years from now you wake up and you realise that you’ve just spent your life unhappy…”
“And you want to make me not be unhappy?”
“Who me..?” Nino hissed pulling away and blinking like a smacked puppy his mouth opening in shock “No…I want to date you…When you’re ready…And then I have every confidence that there are days that I’m going to make you very unhappy just as you will me…”
“And what if I’m never going to be ready?”
“Hmm…I’m going to be really disappointed…” Nino breathed shakily as Jun brought his face in close his full pink lips hovering so close to his that he could already feel the heat coming off of them. His tongue darted out of his mouth scraping over his lips and nervously he brought his hands up to rest on Jun’s shoulders for one moment he was tempted to pull him closer to press their lips together and be done with it but he couldn’t, Jun really wasn’t ready and with a huge effort he pushed him away saying “But I know that you’ll really be ready…One day…For now you should go to bed and sober up...”
“I don’t want you to stop hounding me…”
