Breakfast in the Sakurai household was normally a tense affair but Sho was positive that they would be able to power half the city with the tension that was buzzing around the table. Shu thankfully seemed to be completely unaware of it but his sister seemed to be eating as quickly as she could without choking herself. Her eyes were on him and Sho gave her a small smile before feeding his brother. Shu babbled about a duck for five minutes while eating only a handful of bites of the porridge his mother had made. Sho couldn’t blame his brother, the food was rather tasteless, it always had been but after eating Kazuko’s food it was bland. He did attempt to get him to eat a little more than he wanted but eventually the boy shook his head and refused to even open his mouth.
“Mai, take Shu to the bathroom and wash his face, please” His mother said stiffly from behind the paper she wasn’t really reading but was using as a distraction for her anger. From his position Sho could see that she was in full banshee mode and he almost attempted to leave the table himself but was stopped by a look his father gave him. The man’s chubby face was rather more pale than it normally was and there were bags under his eyes. Sho didn’t know what it was that had caused him so much stress but he didn’t have the heart to add to it. “Close the door behind you”
“Yes, mother” Mai replied shooting Sho a sympathetic look before taking Shu from his high chair and walking him out of the room. The boy didn’t go without a fight, screaming and shouting for Sho and although Sho wanted to go to him he knew that it would just stoke the fires of his mothers anger. The door clicked behind his brother and sister and the sound of Shu’s cries were muffled almost instantly. Sho knew that Mai would be able to calm him down without trying but SHo really wished he could play dumb.

“You were late home again last night” His mother’s tone was crisp as she lowered the paper and stared at him like a judge over looking a criminal. Sho wasn’t sure what the correct response should be but in the end he nodded fixing her with a bold stare. “When you first wanted to join that pathetic company I admit that I was less than supportive...In fact I outright said that it was a waste of your time. You would be far better suited as a tutor for one of the younger years in your school, it would help both you and them...”
“I didn’t want to become a tutor”
“I know, you said as much. You also promised me and your father that this...Waste of time would not become a distraction. That you would maintain your schoolwork...”
“I have...”
“Please don’t interrupt me when I am talking. I am your mother” The older alpha growled flashing a hint of her teeth as she folded the newspaper slowly and set it to one side. She cleared her throat slowly and Sho swallowed. His schoolwork and homework had been the same level it was before he had started dating Nino. Yes, he was spending more time out of the house but who could blame him? His parents treated him like crap for the most part and didn’t speak to him unless they had something to complain about. “You also said that you would continue to be there when Shu needs you. You know how attached he is to you and that you haven’t been here to put him to bed upsets him...”
“He’s not my son” Sho growled hating her for using Shu against him like that. She knew that his siblings were his weakness, his omega brother most of all. His mother didn’t seem to care though as her lips curled into a wicked smile.
“No, but he is your brother, or do you no longer care about him now you have new friends?” She asked and Sho felt his mind fog over with a red swirl of anger. She had always been a manipulative old bag but this was below the belt even for her. “There is also the matter of your omiai. As you had no intention of setting a date I have done it for you. This weekend. You are to meet her in the Palace Hotel at three o’clock on Sunday...”
“Excuse me? I thought I said that I wasn’t going to an Omiai...I’m only fifteen...”
“Sho, don’t talk absolute rubbish. The girl is an Omega, the same age as yourself and dear friend of the family. Don’t you have any sense of how perfect that is? How many Omega do you know? Do you think that one is just going to spring up out of nowhere when you think you’re ready?” She asked and Sho realised that Shun hadn’t told her about the scent that had been on him the other day. He was surprised by that and he looked at his father only to find him staring at the wall with a stony expression on his face. “The wedding isn’t on Sunday. But you may as well meet her now and get used to it...”
“No, no! I will not...Get used to it! I am not going out with her! And what about this Omega? What does she want?”
“Who cares what she wants? She is an omega, she will do as she’s told. Just as you will...Or you can leave this house and never come back...”
“My dear...You can’t be serious...”
“I am...”
“And then what will happen to Shu?” Sho asked throwing her earlier manipulation back at her but he could see it was pointless when she rolled her shoulders in a shrug and said;
“Shu will have to get used to it...Of course, he wouldn’t have to get used to it if you stopped behaving like a spoilt child...Where do you think you’re going?”
“To pack my things, I don’t have a class until later so I’ll go now” Sho said getting up from the table and stalking out of the room without so much of a backwards glance. He heard the sharp hiss from his father and he heard his mother almost choke on her own breath but overall he didn’t care. He had no idea where he was going to go but he couldn’t stay here. If he stayed now she would have won and she would be dictating his whole life for the rest of hers. Mai was sitting on the step with Shu on her knee and instead of looking confused the female alpha looked happy and proud.
“Way to go, big brother, will the prince go to his omega?”
“Yeah...If they will take me...”
