My Demon Boss and other annoyances final

Five weeks later.

“Hey little ET” Nino chuckled carefully plucking his daughter out of her cot as she let out loud screams. He couldn’t believe that it had been a full seven weeks since she had been born. She was allowed out of her incubator now and was on regular feeds. She was still small but her eyes were starting to open and she was less sensitive to sounds. Satoshi had had to return to work, although he hadn’t wanted to, while Nino had stayed permanently in the hospital. He was hoping that they would finally be allowed home sometime this weekend but it all depended on the results of ET’s latest blood test. She had developed a cough last week and her chest was still rattling every now and then even though she had been flushed through with medication. Her skin was also starting to shed like a snake and although it wasn’t as serious as some conditions she was still needing creams and treatments to handle it.

“Hey, Papa, hey ET, how are you today?” Mala asked brightly coming into the room carrying a tray of food. The nurse had been taking care of him and ET for much of the time he had been in the hospital and Nino was glad of her company. The other nurses were too busy to talk to him for any great length of time but alone in the room with just ET he would have gone insane.

“Bored, ready to go home”

“I bet, but it’s better for ET to stay while she’s got that cough” Mala hummed saying what he already knew. He gazed down at his daughter smiling at the way she was looking towards him with half opened eyes. Her forehead was flaking and there were yellow scab like bumps around her crown but Nino was still convinced that she was the most beautiful baby that had ever been born. Okay, given that she looked so much like him it was strange for him to say but she was beautiful and he loved the way her hands were the only things that weren’t like his. Her fingers were so long and her hands slim looking more like Satoshi’s. “Besotted...”

“Just a little, but can you blame me? She is beautiful...” Nino laughed looking at the nurse as she set out his food and then checked over something on one of the machines. Nino thought he had a good idea of what they all did, and the sounds they gave off didn’t bother him so much. The machine Mala was looking at monitored ET’s heart and it was perfectly fine.

“She is. A proper little princess” Mala agreed coming back to the bed and sitting in the chair Satoshi sat in when he visited. “Have you still not come up with a name yet? On her records its still ET”

“Yeah, we can’t decide on one yet” Nino shrugged though in truth he had thought of one but he hadn’t told Satoshi yet and he didn’t want to tell anyone else until later. “Anyway, the doctor said that I could take her out of the room today. Only into the corridors...”

“I know. She really is a fighter, your little girl”

“I know...There are times when I thought she wouldn’t make it, that she wasn’t strong enough but...She is” Nino smiled at the little girl as she finished the bottle. He lifted her up and placed her gently against her chest before patting her on the back to bring up any air. He felt a sickly wet patch spread out over his shoulder and then there was a burp. “There we go, that’s my good girl, sick up, you are my good girl” ET let out a strange sound which Nino found to be cute. “Yup, you are my good girl, my little princess...”

“Our little princess” Satoshi’s voice came from the doorway and Nino turned to smile at his lover. Satoshi was dressed in a slate grey suit. His hair was brushed into a side parting, he looked every inch the demon of Yama heights, but there was a smile on his face. “Hey, Kazunari...How are you and our little princess?”

“She’s fine, she’s just had a full bottle. Though...She brought a lot of it back up” Nino said wincing as he moved and the sick-up dribbled even more down his back. “How are you? How is work?:

“Work is fine...” Satoshi answered before coming and pressing a kiss to his cheek. He smelt of the antibacterial wash they needed to use when coming near ET. It was just a precaution now but Nino was positive that he would do whatever it took to sort it out. “You are looking pale...”

“Yeah...I think maybe I need some air today...” Nino mumbled knowing that he had been in this room for quite some time. He didn’t want to leave ET but he was going stark raving mad here. He needed some sun and air. Mala left the room as Satoshi took ET out of his hands and hugged her too his chest. Satoshi sat on the bed beside him and Nino let out a small hum whispering “I’ve thought of a name...”

“Oh? Yeah, what name?”

“Eri-Tama...With the kanji for strong-jewel...” Nino hummed his heart hammering against his ribs he swallowed slowly, a thick lump forming at the back of his throat. Satoshi didn’t speak for a long time but eventually he smiled and nodded happily;

“Eri-Tama, our strong beautiful jewel and our little ET”

“You like it?” Nino asked uncertainly and Satoshi nodded quickly as ET put her little hand to his lip saying;

“I love it. It suits her perfectly. I knew that you would think of a good name...”

“You will have to pick the next one”

“I will? So you have decided to have another?” Satoshi chuckled gently and Nino nodded slowly his hand going to his stomach. He wasn’t as sore as he had been but the wound was still very much there. He was always going to have a scar but like the stretch marks he didn’t care. Like Satoshi said they were just marks of their life together and the journey ET had taken to get into the world. It hadn’t been a smooth ride but it was okay. Eri-Tama, ET was with them and one day there would be a brother or sister.

“Yes but not right away...” Nino laughed “Let’s enjoy our lives for a bit first”

“Yup, have you thought about when you want the wedding?”

“Yeah, I think that we should wait till after Sho and Masaki marry. Maybe in a year?” Nino hummed though he knew that he would happily marry this man tomorrow if he could. Who would have thought he would be so happy with the man he had once called his demon boss.

“If that’s what you want” Satoshi agreed before cooing to their baby and Nino smiled watching them. Soon they would go home over looking the lake with their dogs and the peace and Nino could really start to enjoy his life with his angel boss and his princess baby.
