The War final

krystalkatzficz Satoshi led Nino out into the large courtyard. His heart was fluttering nervously inside in his chest and he hoped that his lover would agree with what he had planned. Nino’s hand was tight against his and Satoshi gently stroked it with his thumb saying;
“Are you nervous?”
“A little, since I have no idea what you have planned” Nino grumbled and Satoshi let out a laugh bringing his hand up to his mouth and lightly kissing his fingers slowly one at a time.

“I love you, and I would never do anything you didn’t like, you know that” The vampire hummed and Nino gave a growl from the back of his throat but Satoshi could see that he was smiling, and that his hand had relaxed against him. The courtyard was empty, which was something Nino would find suspicious as there was normally humans, werewolves, and vampires all hanging around but the absence of people went unnoticed by Nino as Satoshi led him down a long path.
The clean up of the world was taking longer than anyone would have thought but they were getting there. Working together instead of against each other made things go a lot smoother and the first thing they had done was build a compound for all three peoples. The human’s had appointed Masaki and Jun as their leaders repeatedly since the end of the war and it was going smoothly. The sky was still scarred but Satoshi had seen patches of blue breaking through the thick clouds.
“Eighty years...” Nino breathed softly giving a smile as he looked around at the new compound. It wasn’t perfect but it was theirs, made of something new rather than relying on the shadows of the past. A statue of the three peoples had been made and now stood in the centre of the courtyard symbolising the shared future they all wanted and needed. Chinen was still imprisoned under that statue, along with his father. In the end Nino had decided that death was too good and easy for the man. A much more suitable punishment for somebody that only wanted war and death was to live in the knowledge that the world was now at peace. “I know in our long lives it is only a blink but...Sometimes I feel every one of those years as though they were an eternity...”
“I understand, I too felt that, but an eternity spent with you makes it worth it...” Satoshi purred leading him out of the compound now his nervous growing as he wondered if this was the right thing to do. He never told Nino but he knew what his lover was waiting for with their wedding and truth be told he had been waiting for it as well, now it was finally ready, and both Sho and Tayhia agreed that the tree would survive out of it’s chamber.
They turned the last corner and it came into view, the first tree that had been grown on the earth in hundreds of years. It wasn’t large, barely taller than Masaki but it had a healthy amount of branches and leaves. The trunk was made of two twisting around each other and Satoshi thought it was rather nice. Nino’s breath caught as his eyes bulged staring at the tree that was decorated with ribbons fashioned from the silk of Tayhia’s wedding dress, Masaki’s and Sho’s suits and other places from people who wished them well.
“How...When...Where?”
“I planted the seeds the day the war ended, my puppy. I was afraid that it wouldn’t work so never told you...”
“For eighty years?”
“For eighty years at first it was too delicate to have many people, Sho, Masaki, and Tayhia helped me grow the tree. But today, eighty years after it was planted, eighty years since we said that the war is over...It can be planted...The first tree...” Satoshi whispered softly and he could read the whirl of questions that were spinning around in Nino’s mind but eventually he smiled a tear glistening in his eye and Satoshi knelt on one knee and held up a ring he had fashioned from a piece of broken branch of the tree. “Here in the shadow of the first tree grown in far too long, will you marry me?”
“I...I will, of course I will...But today...Today is Jun and Princess...Their wedding...You’re...Stealing their thunder...” Nino spluttered and Satoshi gave a laugh slipping the ring into place on Nino’s finger before motioning for their family and friends to join them. Nino looked up at the sound of music and happy voices, people dressed in their best clothes, with Rhian and Masaki leading them.
“Jun and Rhian had no intention of getting married today, puppy, they only said that...Because I asked them too...I wanted today to be the day that I married you...” Satoshi admitted smiling at his daughter who gave him a wink before cuddling against Jun’s side. The man had become a rather attractive vampire in the last eighty years and he was devoted to Rhian who he called angel or goddess and Satoshi was rather fond of him. “A little over eighty years ago a werewolf saved the life of a vampire. He was only young but he had seen too much death and wanted to save at least one life. Nobody could have ever known that that day he would save so much more than one life. He saved the world. My lover, my bonded, my husband...”
“I didn’t do it alone. Without you...none of this would have happened” Nino mumbled looking bashfully down at the ring around his finger and Satoshi placed a kiss over it softly. “My lover, my bonded, my husband...To the next eighty years?”
“To Eternity...”

A/N: Urgh...I hate ending stories cause I hate them but...This is done...As far as I’m concerned it’s finished...>.< Um...If anyone wants to know what happened to the old kings...They were sent away together...with some servants. Nino’s father never totally got better but with his lover he became sounder and he was able to love Nino again...>< I really hope this ending wasn’t too bad...I honestly could have kept going forever and ever and yeah...I have a million unfinished stories and a trillion ideas for new ones....>.<
