Satoshi watched Nino walk up to him. His arms were covered in blood and there was an open wound over under his eye over his nose. The new kin of the werewolves smiled a little in his direction and then turned his attention to Masaki. The boy bobbed into a bow a weird nervous grin on his face as he said in a nervous way;

“Your majesty...”

“I thought I told you to stay hidden” Nino growled before moving forward and crushing the boy in a hug. Masaki’s arms slipped around him and Nino squeezed him tightly before sighing “Go fetch me some clothes, Ki, please...And don’t call me your majesty. I may be the king but I am your father...”

“Yup...Papa...” Masaki beamed kissing Nino’s cheek before hurrying off the way he had came. Nino shook his head and then turned to the large collection of Werewolves that were still in a semi-circle around them. Tsuyoshi had gone to both attend to the king’s wounds and to take him prisoner and Satoshi was still on edge. He knew that Nino’s actions now would determine the outcome of his rule it was a very tense time and it was clear that the werewolves in front of him wasn’t going to respect his rule. The vampire was sure that that was why Masaki had been sent away.

“I am your king” Nino announced. His tone was soft but there was an edge to it that left even Satoshi speechless. His eyes glowed with a fire that Satoshi hadn’t seen before.

“We don’t accept your victory. The king is still alive” One of the transformed wolves declared his tone chilling and Nino shook his head, his body trembling with his rage. The blood over his body just adding to the deeply intense feeling that was surrounding him.

“The former king submitted, I saw no reason to kill him. I am your king, if you will not accept that then you may challenge my right” Nino growled and Satoshi hoped that nobody would take him up on that but it would be a good way for the others to accept that Nino was king. Lots of the wolves recoiled back at the words but a few bolder wolves came forward their teeth barred. “Very well...” Nino huffed his body shifting back into his wolf.

What followed was an hour of intense and bloody fighting. Unlike with his father Nino showed very little compassion to those that had challenged him. Those that did were tossed easily aside their throats almost completely ripped from their bodies. At least three were unlikely to survive and Satoshi didn’t feel any sympathy for them. Masaki came and Satoshi had to hold him close to stop him from trying to stop the fights.

“He was already tired and injured from the first one” Masaki whined against his chest and Satoshi nodded. It was the truth after all, fighting the king had taken it out on Nino, and that was what made this all the more impressive. For all that he had fought a dozen or more wolfs Nino hadn’t seemed to break a sweat.

“The people here in this compound are the ones most loyal to the old king and the ones that are the least likely to want peace. If Nino can win here and prove that he is a worthy king will put an end to any upraising” Satoshi explained to the boy and the young man nodded. He didn’t look all that convinced but he stopped trying to get to Nino.

Eventually the battles came to an end, Nino stood in the centre of the battle compound and let out a howl. It took a few minutes but eventually the wolves, that could, were howling along with him. Masaki howled as well and Satoshi joined in. Like before he felt a little foolish but he knew that he was part of Nino’s pack and wanted to let him know. Once he had finished howling Nino transformed back into his human self and walked towards Satoshi and Masaki again. “You fought well, your majesty”

“Thank-you” Nino smiled before taking the towel and the clothes that Masaki offered him. He used the towel to wipe away the blood and the sweat from his face before saying “Thank-you, Masaki”

“You’re welcome, papa” Masaki whispered his voice fluttering over the word papa. It was cute and reminded Satoshi of his daughter Rhian. Of course, it was likely because Masaki and Rhian were brother and sister. In a strange roundabout way. It was still a lot to get used to but Satoshi was finding that he was okay with it more now than he had been when he first found out. “You were amazing, you’re king now...”

“And you are my heir...” Nino announced in a way that made it a declaration his hands coming to rest on his shoulders. Masaki yelped his eyes bulging a little as his mouth fell open but he did nod slowly taking it for what it was.

“He’s a human”

“He is my child, human or not and he is my heir” Nino spat that man who had spoken and the werewolf flinched back his head bowing as he nursed his wounds. “Come Masaki, Vampire Ohno...You came to speak with the king of the werewolves, let’s go speak”

“Your majesty” Satoshi smiled and together the strange party made their way to the grandest of the buildings in the compound. It looked as though the werewolves had tried to make it into a palace of old, with large statues of wolves on either side of the grand entrance, but didn’t have either patience or materials to finish it. Once they were away from the werewolves behind close doors Nino’s body folded in on itself crumbling like a paper man. Satoshi, who had been expecting it, caught him easily in his arms preventing him from landing on the ground while Masaki let out a startled noise. “Nino, are you okay?”

“Yeah...It feels as though it’s been an extremely long day”

“Not the way I thought it would go” Satoshi admitted as he helped Nino into one of the chairs dotted around the building. The young werewolf glared at him saying;

“I told you my father would attack you on sight”

“I apologise for not listening to you, but you were amazing...You fought the king and made him submit, and now you rule and we are one very large step to our goal puppy...” Satoshi smiled making doubly sure that there were no werewolves around them before he kissed his lover. Nino accepted the kiss happily and then sighed;

“There is still a long way to go...You have to beat the king of the vampires, and we have to convince the my father that he wants to see your father in law again...”

“For now, let us enjoy your victory”

“After I issue an order calling all my followers home. No more attacks, no more fights unless they absolutely have to...”
