“Will you be okay?” Kazuko asked softly when the reached the outside of the NHK building. Nino knew that it was a fair question, he had been like a cat on hot cinderblocks throughout the drive and Nino could only manage a small nod now. He wasn’t completely sure what would be expected of him today but he was sure there was going to be a few awkward moments. “Want me to come in?”

“Don’t you have to be at work?” Nino asked thankfully and Kazuko gave a small shrug glancing down at the old fake gold watch on her arm. It had been a gift from her mother when she had gotten married and although it wasn’t all that expensive she treasured it greatly.

ldquo;I can be late. If you need me...” She assured him and Nino flashed her a grateful smile his heart relaxing from the tight knot of nerves.

“...Just...Just for a few minutes?”

“Righty-oh. I’ll just find somewhere to park” Kazuko started up the car again and pulled around the side of the building. His mother hated driving around Tokyo preferring to take the train wherever she needed to but often she had to take things into work that she couldn’t juggle so the car was needed. Today she had wanted to bring him here herself, probably because she knew that he would be nervous and Nino wished that he was allowed to hug her. They parked in a little side street and then walked in a comfortable silence back to the door they had been in front of a moment or two before.

Several men turned to look at his mother as he guided him through the reception area and Nino fought the urge to scowl at them. He had always been a mummy’s boy and age hadn’t changed that. He knew that his mum was pretty, she didn’t look her age after all and always seemed to wear a pair of stone washed jeans and a baggy t-shirt that seemed to slip down one of her shoulders. Her hair was tied up in a loose pony-tail and she wore only a silver necklace with the patron saint of Omega and children embossed on the front. His and his sisters names were engraved into the back along with their times of birth and how much they weighed. Nino shuffled closer to the woman breathing in the soft spiced scent of Beta. “You okay?”

“Yeah...Just...Overwhelmed...” Nino answered looking around with awe at the building. It was far more impressive than the building Johnny’s was in and everything seemed to glint with polish and smelt of lemons. Kazuko put a hand on his shoulder and squeezed him gently making sure that nobody could hear before she said;

“You have just as much right to be here as anyone Kazu, remember that, you were picked...”

“I know, but it’s easier to think that when you’re safe in your bedroom...” Nino grumbled feeling sick as a group he recognised as the older juniors swept through the front doors. None of them seemed phased by their surroundings and he supposed that they had been there a lot more than he had and the newness of it all had gone for them.

“They were probably just as nervous as you are now” Kazuko hummed softly, as always seemingly able to read his mind. “Everyone has to start from somewhere and this is your starting point. Come on be the brave kid I know you are, you’re going to walk this...”

“I’ll try...”

“Nino! You’re already here! I was about to go and wait for you at the train station!” Toma whined coming to a stop and skidding over the floor. The boy gave a quick bow in Kazuko’s direction and then beamed at him. “We’re really here! I couldn’t sleep last night I was so nervous, I thought I was going to be sick. Jun is even worse, I think he has been sick at least twice...”

“Eh? Really? Where is he?” Nino asked barely noticing his mother slipping away with a smile on her face leaving him in the care of his friend. He looked around for the sweet...Not quite elite omega but couldn’t see him in the mass of juniors that had started to crowd the foyer.

“In the toilet, he ran in there about a minute ago. A lot of the older Juniors were ribbing on him cause he didn’t have to audition...Oh, look he’s coming now? Jun you okay?” Toma shouted waving almost frantically as he jumped up and down to get Jun’s attention. Jun looked peaky...His face was a sort of ashen grey with a slightly glazed over expression around his eyes and Nino was glad that he wasn’t as bad as that. At least he hoped he wasn’t. Jun scowled at Toma for drawing attention to him and then slid in beside Nino his head resting on his arm. Nino allowed some of his Omega scent to slip out from under the scent of his cousin and Jun seemed to relax almost immediately.

“Feeling better now” The younger boy mumbled thankfully “I didn’t think I was going to be this nervous. It’s awful...”

“You’ll be alright, once you start” Nino said as a feminine voice cleared her throat demanding attention. Nino turned to look at her and then noticed that Keio-boy and another junior were standing beside her. Nino’s eyes automatically went to Keio-boy and he jolted with surprise when the boy seemed to stare directly at him. Their eyes caught and held for what felt like an age and Nino only looked away when Toma jabbed him hard in the side. “Wha?”

“You should listen. We’re being split into two groups. Either Sakurai Sho and Takizawa Hideaki will be in charge of us today...”

“Um...Who?”

“Sakurai is the alpha you don’t droll over, Keio-boy and Takizawa is the other...” Jun hissed helpfully before getting glared at by the woman who seemed to be in charge. “Sorry...”

“As I was saying, you will be placed into two groups. For today these will be the groups that you will be working in. I don’t think I have to tell you that this is a studio and there are TV shows being recorded so as soon as we pass through these doors behind me I want your voices to be as quiet as possible...Is that understood?”

“Yes” Nino and the other chorused and the woman gave a pleased nod before looking down at clipboard in her hands.

“When I call your names and tell you your group I want you to come and stand beside your group leader. Ninomiya Kazunari...Group Sakurai...” She called and Nino pulled away from Toma and Jun and made his way nervously over to Keio-boy. He hadn’t been this close to him since first seeing him and Nino had to gulp as his scent washed over him. It was so strong it almost caused him to want to purr but he forced it down and tried to ignore the way the heat was rolling off of him and seeping through the clothes Nino was wearing.
