krystalkatzficz “I can’t believe I’m doing this” Nino huffed looking up at the building. It looked like a normal office building just like the thousands of others that you saw dotted around Tokyo. It was nothing special and he had had to check the address several times to make sure it was the right place. His mother placed a hand on his shoulder and Nino blinked at her some of the nerves easing knowing that she was there with him. Although Yuza’s plans had been well thought out there was one stipulation that neither of them had envisioned. When he had confirmed that he would be attending the audition they had told him that he would need parental consent. He had been almost relieved to find that out, it would be a way of getting out of it without looking like a coward. He hadn’t counted on his mother actually encouraging it when they had told her.
His mother was normally a sensible person who would tell him to avoid getting into trouble like this but he should have remembered that he got his prankster gene from one of his parents and it wasn’t his dad. Kazuko had already started to have doubts about the friends he was hanging out with, they were members of the youth baseball club and almost all of them were betas. There were rumours that they were going around harassing omegas in the local area and she was worried what they would do if they found out he was an omega. She thought that Johnny’s would be a better place for him, yes he would be around beta and alpha males for most of the day but if they thought he was one of them they wouldn’t be interested in him. At least that was what she told him, Nino thought that she probably just wanted him to have to follow rules.
“You can still back out if you’re really uncertain, Kazu” She hummed gently squeezing his shoulder and Nino licked his lips about to say yes and leave quickly when he saw a member of Tokio Nagase Tomoya walking into the building. Nagase was one of the people on his wall. He had followed them since they had debuted two years ago and the nervous sickly feeling inside of him ebbed away only to be replaced with excitement.
“Um, I think we should go in, I mean since we came all the way here and all...” He mumbled unable to catch her eye but that didn’t stop Kazuko from letting out a laugh and nudging him with her elbow.
“Just because we’re here, right? Nothing to do with that boy you were just staring at?”
“...Mum!”
“Sorry, but...You know, if you want to pass as a beta you should make it less obvious that you’re omega...” Kazuko whispered after making sure that nobody else was around that might overhear and Nino rolled his eyes. He had spent the better part of his life trying to make it less obvious that he was an omega. He hated it, hated that just because he was considered to be the weaker gender that people didn’t think he was capable. Some things however were unavoidable. He would always be attracted to strong people, not always physically strong...Mentally strong, even financially strong would do so long as he knew could and would protect him and any future children they may have.
“Beta can be attracted to power too...”
“Yes, I know but you purred when you saw him, Kazu...I really don’t know about this...Maybe we should forget it...”
“You and Yuza were the ones most up for this, and now you want to back out? When the building is right there? I promise that I won’t...Purr...Or whatever you meant by that...” Nino hummed unsure why he was being so argumentative about this. What his mum had said was what he had wanted her to say when she had first found out but now she had said it, it made him want to prove that she was wrong and that he could pull it off. Everyone said that he was a brilliant actor and that it was a shame he hadn’t been born in the 1960’s when Omega had been really popular on screen. Now they were reduced to bit parts in most productions. “Come on” He huffed wrapping Yuza’s denim jacket more firmly around himself before stalking towards the building leaving his mum to follow behind at a more sedate pace.
Beyond the large double doors there was a security desk and the man behind it looked up with a sceptical eyebrow before waving him over. Nino clutched at the letter he had been sent and tried to keep his head as high as possible. Yuza’s scent was all over him, he knew that, but he hoped that there wasn’t a patch of his own showing through.
“Name?”
“Ninomiya Kazunari...Um...I have an interview and audition...” Nino whispered uncertainly holding out his letter as though it was a talisman that would ward off evil. The man took it from him and then looked him over before asking;
“Where’s your guardian?”
“She’s coming, we were just...I mean...She was a little nervous...”
“Funny your mum being nervous when it’s your audition, ne, kid?” The security guard laughed hitting him playfully on the shoulder and Nino gave a weak smile at the attempt at humour. Thankfully Kazuko finally caught up with him at that point and after showing the man ID they were allowed further into the building. Now it looked like the headquarters of a boyband factory. On the walls lining the long corridor where huge pictures of the groups Johnny’s had put out and the one closest to him was of Tokio. “Just go straight down to the end of the corridor, kid, there is already a few waiting there...Good luck, and don’t be nervous...”
“Um, thanks” Nino offered the man a smile. He had been a little scared of him at first but he seemed to be an alright guy. He wasn’t physically imposing, he was average height and build for a healthy Japanese male but his face was scarred slightly and a chunk of his right nostril was missing giving him a gangster look but the smile on his face changed that image. The security guard waved at him and gave him a wink and Nino bobbed his head and then walked down the long corridor looking at the pictures and gold records on the walls while also looking into some of the rooms that had their doors open. It was all like and unlike what he had been expecting and when he reached the gathering of other hopefuls his nerves had come back.
