Wanderer part 2
Jun stood against the wall with his arms folded over his chest chewing on his lip as he waited for Nino to start speaking. The large lumbering dog had moved to join his master with his head resting on his lap and his large brown eyes staring up at him with devotion. Nino smiled a little stroking him between his eyes before sighing and whispering;
“My boyfriend…He has always been a little handsy and possessive…”
“Abusive you mean?” Jun growled his whole-body twitching at the thought of somebody hurting Nino. He knew that he was whipped, even though they’d broken up he wanted to protect him from the evils of the world. It had been that way since Nino had first come to him confessing his crush. Up until that point he had thought of him only as the neighbour’s kid. One of the many that would hang around his garage after school hoping that they would be allowed a drive on his motorbike. His first instinct had been to push him away and claim that he was too young but the harder he tried the harder Nino fought to stay with him. In the end he had given in and it had been an amazingly intense relationship.
“…Yeah…My parents just say that he’s passionate…” Nino lifted his t-shirt to reveal a large bruise. It was around the same size and shape of a fist and it looked painful. There were other, older marks covering the body that he could see to, and Jun ground his teeth together to stop himself from audibly snarling at the sight. “…Yesterday, it was too much. I decided that I couldn’t stay there anymore…As soon as he had gone out to the pub, I took Bruno and we ran for it…”
“Bruno? That’s the dog’s name? I’ve been calling him Sirus and he answered” Jun chuckled remembering the times he had snuck into the room to make sure Nino was just sleeping and nothing more sinister. The dog had watched him carefully from under his shaggy eyebrows but had gratefully accepted the drink he had offered and the meat.
“I think he just likes the tone of your voice. He was treated worse than I was” Nino breathed gently playing around with the dog’s ear. Jun sighed and then ran his fingers through his hair, more as something to do so he didn’t reach out and wrap Nino into a hug. He wasn’t sure if his touch would be welcome even though Nino had chosen him to come to when he had needed somebody.
“Okay, I think that’s enough explanation for now. I’m sure you’re hungry after that…”
“I need a pee more than anything else. That was what woke me…” Nino admitted somehow managing to give a cute blush and Jun felt his lips twitch into a smile as he held out his hand.
“Come on then, I’ll take you there just lean on to me, okay?” He hummed, and Nino gave a nod slowly getting up from the bed his face scrunching with each step. Jun held him firmly against his side, wrapping an arm around him as he started walking him to the exit, Sirus (He refused to call the dog Bruno) followed slowly, his large feet making heavy steps on the wooden floor. “The dog is your boyfriend’s?”
“Yeah but I couldn’t leave him” Nino answered leaning more heavily against him now, his head almost resting against his shoulder until he heard laughing coming from the living area down the hall. Jun recognised the sound as belonging to Aiba Masaki, one of his roommates who lived with his partner in the rooms on the second floor. Nino didn’t know that however and from the look of horror on his face Jun knew that he had put 2 and 2 together to make 18. “Shit, you’re living with someone…Of course you are. Why wouldn’t you be? Sorry, I’ll get out of your hair…”
“Shut up, Kazu, yes I live with someone, three some ones but two of them are dating each other and the other is straight” Jun huffed. A small, hurt and childish, part of him had wanted to make him suffer a little bit but the adult part of him knew that he had already been through too much. “I’m not a saint but I’m not seeing anyone exclusively either. So come on, toilet is through here…” Jun kicked open a door with his foot to reveal the bathroom. The toilet was directly in front of the door and Nino almost sagged at the sight of it. “Need help?”
“I think I can manage”
“Okay, I’ll wait outside, call me when you’re done, and I will take you back to bed before getting some food” Jun hummed letting go of the smaller man and leaving the bathroom. He closed the door once Sirus had slipped inside and then rested himself against the wood. He should be able to act like an adult, not like a pathetic teenager with their first crush. He couldn’t help it though, just like before there was something that pulled him to Nino. It was annoying and that feeling of annoyance only grew when he heard Nino moaning and whimpering as he walked over to the toilet.
“Jun, what you doing lurking like a perv around the toilet? The kid in there?” Masaki asked jovially coming out of the living area and Jun growled at his friend but gave a nod. “Found out why he’s here yet?”
“Yeah, the bastard he was with beat him up. He stole the dog and headed here. He’ll be staying with us if that’s okay?”
“It’s fine with me, the more the merrier. But…Won’t his folks or boyfriend come looking for him?” Masaki asked looking nervous and Jun gave a shrug. He hoped that the bastard would show up, he would teach him for messing with Nino. “You’re still in love with him aren’t you! I always wondered why you were single! Even though Toma keeps throwing himself at you!”
“Shut up, Masaki” Jun growled as the toilet flushed but of course his most annoying housemate wouldn’t do something as nice as that.
“But it’s sweet! All this time pining!”
“Shut up…” Jun growled again as Nino could be heard inside shouting his name. He pushed open the door and down Nino half crouched leaning on the dog for support. His cheeks flamed bright red when he saw Masaki, but Masaki only had eyes for the dog.
“Oh! He’s so cute! Look at him! He’s as big as a horse! You are such a fluffy doggy yes you are!” Masaki gushed rushing forward only to stop dead in his tracks when the dog gave a none too friendly growl. “Um…It’s okay big boy! I wasn’t going to hurt you…”
“I don’t think it’s himself he’s protecting” Jun murmured lightly smiling as he stepped forward and the dog stopped growling and his scruffy tail wagged from side to side. “It’s okay, you’re a good dog, ne, let’s get Kazu back to bed…”
“Sorry, he’s…Normally a good dog”
“And he still is, you’re in pain, the idiot is a stranger and lunging towards you” Jun mumbled softly picking Nino up and walking him out of the bathroom. “You’ve got heavier”
“I think it’s just ‘cause you’ve got older” Nino shot back his cheeks flushing brightly and Jun chuckled glad to see that he still had some of his old fire about him.
Nino’s POV
Nino flushed under the look Jun was giving him remembering the times his former lover had carried him to bed. He could still remember the way Jun’s hands and mouth had moved over him then. He could also remember the time he had been too spent to move from the bed and Jun had carried him to the bath before gently soaping down his body.
“What are you thinking about?” Jun asked as they reached the bedroom and Nino growled turning his face away from him as he huffed out an almost broken sounding;
“Nothing”
“Oh? Looks like an interesting, nothing” Jun laughed laying him down on the bed and Nino scowled up at him noticing that he had a tattoo on his neck just behind his ear. It was small but pronounced and Nino wanted to reach up and touch it.
“Shut up” He whispered pulling his eyes away from the tattoo to look at the photos decorating the walls. “Do you still take them?”
“All the time. Some have ended up in shows” Jun admitted somewhat proudly and Nino zeroed in on the ones of him. He was the only person in any of the photos and he could remember where every single one had been taken. “Not those ones, they are my private collection”
“Must make dating hard”
“I told you, I don’t date…”
“Not even Toma?” Nino asked. He hadn’t meant to overhear the conversation between Jun and his housemate, but the walls weren’t very thick, and Masaki had been loud. He watched a muscle pulse in Jun’s eye and he swallowed almost guiltily before whispering; “Sorry…”
“Toma is the closest that I’ve come to having a real relationship but even he…You really messed me up, Kazu”
“Sorry, Jun, I never…I never wanted to break up…” Nino whispered wishing he could explain properly…Or rather wishing he had told Jun the truth then. Maybe then none of this would have happened. Jun smiled just a little and then lay his hand against his cheek his thumb moving under his eye.
“Shut up and rest. We can talk about this latter for now, for now all you need is some food and plenty of rest…”
