“Would you like to stay for dinner?” Masaki asked softly as Toma stood up to leave. He wasn’t completely sure why he’d asked such a question to the man who was nothing more than a stranger to him, but the social worker gave a chuckle and shook his head slowly as he pulled on his coat.

“Thank-you, but I’m sure that you want to get your evening back on track. Also, I think Kazunari-kun will be happy to have you both to himself again” Toma hummed and Masaki gave a smile to where Kazu was peeking out of the bedroom. His face was pale and nervous, and Masaki immediately opened his arms to him. Kazu came running quickly burying his face into his chest, his skinny arms wrapping tightly around his neck. “I will see you again, Kazunari-kun, but for now I’m sure that you will be happy with your uncles”

“Yes” Kazu whispered and Masaki hugged him more tightly pressing a kiss to his hairline. Sho gathered the cups and glasses from the table as Masaki walked Toma to the door. There was a lot of things that he wanted to say to the man, but he composed himself and simply whispered;

“Thank-you”

“You’re welcome, but this is just the beginning, Aiba-san, there is still a long tunnel to get through before we see the light” Toma warned and Masaki gave a nod. He was prepared for a long fight for Kazu, he knew the odds were stacked against them but surely even judges had to see that Kazu was best with them. “I will contact you as soon as I hear anything else unless you need to contact me first. I will be phoning the school tomorrow to inform them that you have an order that prevents Kazu-kun’s mother from taking him and Kazu-kun you must remember that if you see your mother you are not allowed to go with her, okay?”

“Okay” Kazu whispered sounding surprised and happy all that the same time and Masaki smiled knowing that the boy wouldn’t be going anywhere alone where that woman might be able to get her hands on him. She had done enough damage and he was going to fix it the best he could as soon as he could.

“Okay, bye-bye, Kazu-kun. Good bye Aiba-san, Sakurai-san, congratulations on your engagement” Toma bowed his head and then walked through the open door closing it behind him as he left. Masaki stared at the wood for a moment and then sighed squeezing Kazu a little bit tighter before putting him down in the chair.

“Okay, Kazu-kun, I’m going to make dinner ne? Then we can have trifle and I can phone grandma and grandpa and tell them that Sho-chan and I are getting married” He beamed brightly desperately trying to get his mind on track. He had wanted to call his parents earlier with the news now he had a lot more to tell them. Sometimes it was hard that they lived so far away and all he wanted to do was tell them everything and have them hug him and tell him it was going to be okay.

“Why don’t we order in tonight, Masaki? It won’t take long, and we can still have trifle…” Sho suggested easily and Masaki chewed on his lip for a moment. He wanted to cook himself, it often acted like a sort of therapy for him but more than anything he wanted to be able to relax, or at least try to. “You can go in the bath while it comes…”

“Okay, Sho-chan!” He announced with a grin stretching out his back. The thought of a long hot bath instead of cooking appealing to him instantly. It was one of the major things he needed in the new home a large bath that he could just soak in for an age. “I feel like Chinese food! Ne, Kazu-kun, is that okay with you? Or would you like something else?”

“Chinese food is fine” Kazu whispered as an answer looking somewhat disappointed that they would be having takeout instead of a home cooked meal and Masaki worried at his lip knowing that Masaki liked his cooking more than anything else. After today he had probably wanted the comfort of a home cooked meal and Masaki felt guilty for wanting a bath.

“Masaki’s food is the best right Kazu-kun but sometimes it’s nice to treat Uncle Masaki to a night off cooking, ne, Kazu-kun? But we still have his trifle

for after” Sho whispered softly obviously sensing Kazu’s mood as well and Masaki knelt in front of the boy holding him gently by the shoulders as he promised;

“Tomorrow I will make you a big dinner with all your favourites, ne, Kazu-kun. You will have more food than you know what to do with!”

“It’s okay, I’m sorry for being selfish”

“You’re not selfish Kazu-kun, nowhere near. I’m happy that you like my food, but tonight let’s have a takeaway that we can eat sitting in front of the TV watching silly movies. We can stay up all night if you want. I will make snacks for later. Homemade sweet and salty popcorn…” Masaki whispered and thankfully Kazu’s face lit up in a smile asking;

“What movies?”

“Sho-chan hasn’t watched the avenger’s movies yet, I have all of the ones out so far…We can watch them in order if you like…” Masaki offered somehow knowing that the boy probably wouldn’t have seen them either. It seemed like such a simple thing, he and his brother always arranged to watch the midnight showings together even though they were separated. It was something they had always done since Iron Man. “The new one will be out soon, so we have to hurry if you want to come to the midnight showing with me and Yusuke…”

“Eh? I can!”

“I wouldn’t have said if I didn’t mean it, Kazu-kun” Masaki breathed wrapping his arms around him when Kazu announced that it would be his first trip to the cinema. He didn’t know what else he had missed out on, but he was determined that he and Sho would allow him to catch up. “But I have to warn you, Yusuke is a bigger geek than I am with the avengers, he can’t help but sit and point out all the differences from the comics so if he gets too annoying we have to jab him in the side to shut him up”

“As opposed to you who watches them for Loki…” Sho chuckled from behind Kazu his phone already pressed to his ear and Masaki flushed brightly and pouted saying;

“I like them! I can’t help it if Tom Hiddleston is cute as well!”

“Yeah, yeah…Go have your bath and Kazu-kun and I will set everything up…”
